5-toubun no Hanayome Movie

Man, this movie was great.

Now, obviously there's going to be salty AF people who was angry about their waifu not winning, but to be honest, even as a manga reader who once was for one of the losing girls, I was extremely satisfied by the ending, and how it ended all of the girls perfectly, with them all being given ample screen time. They really played around with the pacing, but in a way that made sense, and I actually felt like this is, by far, above the manga.

I thought the pacing for the movie would have felt rushed AF, since they went from ... 12 episodes covering 32 chapters in the first season, to 54 chapters in the second season, to 35 chapters in just the final movie, which, length wise, is the equivalent of less than 6 episodes. However, that wasn't the case. The series composer, the guy who basically makes sure the pacing and dialogue is solidified, managed to not just adapt every major moment of the series, it also managed to do it while adding more content that made the ending from an 8 out of 10 movie to a 9. The humor of it, despite me remembering reading it, also was made really well by the voice actors, bless them all, who delivered on the production incredibly well. The movie itself had meh production values, but that's sort of to be expected. Art direction was solid though, and same with composite, really made up for the stillness of the film overall.

Watching all of those events unfold, I forgot why so many people hated the ending, even if their girl didn't win. It was so satisfying to see the girl who did win finally get Futaro, and seeing the wedding, where this is spoilerless, and having to have Futaro guess between the girls just really made me laugh, even as someone who was decently sad about the girl I was rooting for losing.

Anyways, man, I'm sad that this is the end of the show, and series, but I'm glad it had such a fantastic, satisfying conclusion.

Middling, mediocre, not really worth the time it takes to watch. It has its moments but drags at times and overall just doesn't feel natural. Half of the movie could be cut out and not affect the story at all. The other half tries to rush to justify the decision at the end. The show needed at least one more season of developing the characters, interests, and motivations for this movie to feel earned and natural. Some of the writing decisions I could see making sense for a stand-alone movie, but it's a continuation and doesn't really work as one. If you're a fan of ... the series it's still a must-watch for closure's sake, unless you're REALLY rooting for your girl then leave it open-ended for your own sake.

I thank the heavens for the opportunity to witness such a breathtaking spectacle. The show's sheer brilliance leaves me yearning for more seasons to come. Regardless Its finished.

Unique because 5 of the main girls are family and extremely close so there are plenty of wholesome moments.

Art style and animation is great

Good character development for all the girls so the ending will be fine even if your best girl didn't win. Each character is amazing and has their own strengths and flaws in a well written way.

The girls are not overly crazy like some harems where they just throw themselves at the MC for no reason

This is gonna be a review of the series in it's entirety so please bare with me.

Season 1: It was fine, the story was great and generally all the characters were loveable (especially Raiha). The animation was pretty subpar, granted no one expected the anime to blow up as much as it did at the time but it was like some Ex-Arm shit. After season 1 ca confirm that Miku was best girl imo and i disliked yotsuba the most. I found her annoying as hell for how clumsy she was. Nino was annoying too but that was before her tsundere trope kicked in. As ... for itsuki and ichika, they were kinda bland and boring im my humble opinion. I rated the first season a 7/10.

Season 2: Big step up from season one, especially with a new studio coming in to animate the second core of the series. Felt more lively and was a lot more interesting and engaging. Story was as good as season ones and the characters got more fleshed out and we got to see more of their characteristics and own unique personalities. Nino became my favorite girl (Tsundere Supremacy) and Ichika was worst girl for obvious reason's. Miku was second best girl and was good to see her overcome some of that shyness she had in season 1. Yotsuba was more tolerable and was better than itsuki, who really didn't change a whole lot exzcept being more flustered in some situations with the MC. I give this an 8/10

Movie: The movie was good but for some reason it felt super rushed. Granted there were only like 30 something chapter's left to adapt but it just felt a bit rushed. In the end I am still a Nino die hard (again Tsundere Supremacy) but overal the movie was a solid close (kinda) to the series. I would give the movie an 8/10

Damn, the series has ended on one good note. I like it.

Art: Pretty damn solid. It looks pretty much the same as the 2nd season with probably better effects and overall emotional direction of the scenes. I still think that the 1st season has the best art but this is a very close second to art. 8/10

Sound: Dunno about this part. All I know about the SFX is that they're serviceable, like most animes. TV or movie, this series has virtually the same SFX direction. The soundtrack however was fucking beautiful and the fact that these go absolutely HARD on emotional scenes just makes it ... better. Although, one solid criticism is that the soundtrack is constantly played throughout the film, so it made some musical moments feel less since you feel you've been hearing it since the start of the film. Trust me, at some points, it felt like a Hallmark movie. But still, the OST fucking slaps. 9/10

Characters: Do I need to explain this part? Because I don't think I need to. This series has pretty solid characters and that's it. Some characters are better than others in a depth way (e.g. Ichika) but some are also better at a heroine. The MC however is a pretty cool dude, a focused dude. 9/10

Story: Now, I know that most people disapprove of the ending and who Futaro eventually picks between the 5. But if you look at it, he chose in a way that was different from everybody else's. Most people look at the "best" girls from an "action" or "personality" standpoint. But this is Futaro's choice, not us, and in his choosing the "best" girl he uses both "action" and "personality" mixed with his own "history" points and "feeling" points. The simplest way to put it, Futaro didn't just look at the actions or personalities but he also looked at the heart. 10/10

Enjoyment: I did, I did enjoy it. Adieu. 9/10

Where the movie turned out great, If you have watched as far as this, Just so you know, this movie gets very emotional

It's a 2 hour movie which can feel very harsh to through for some people, when your first invested in this movie you will mostly like see the whole thing

As the series itself (season 1 and 2) It has the moments where your gonna either almost cry and moments where your gonna laugh a little where it has a very good balance in some ways.

The movie ... goes a little more down on the comedy side of the series and spike heavely up on emotions where you constantly can feel the tension of what's happening in the movie.

As i said in my review of 5-toubun no Hanayome, if you like romcom's this is deffinently something for you

Give it a watch it 100 procent worth it. But watch the season 1 and 2 first because as i said, this is more or less the season 3 of the this awesome series

It appears that there is a fairly even line drawn down the middle as to whether this is good or bad. There's obviously way more good considering its rating as of the time of this review, but I find it hard to agree with.

There is nothing special about this. It's kind of ho-hum and the characters are flat and really less special than what they were in the show. I still cannot tolerate Futaro. I think he's flat and unimpressive and completely clueless through all of the show and the movie together. I think they chose the wrong voice actor and presentation. He has no ... expression of anything but one deep droning voice. He is marginally better in the movie, but definitely not enough to redeem my image of him.

Each one of the girls were given their own dedicated time. While I'm somewhat surprised at the ending and I honestly would have made a different choice, it makes sense if you think back on it. I think it was an awful stretch to make the connection on who I thought was the least developed sister. I had things in there that I had to remember from the show, which has been quite a while.

I'll drop a mixed feelings I miss because someone out there likes it while I don't recommend it. I think it's only fair to be subjective for everybody to see.

I will just start off by saying this is probably a film for someone who is a "die-hard" Quintuplets fan, and probably not just someone looking for an anime film for the evening. I'll also preface this all by saying I was already familiar with the franchise, and watched the 2 Seasons of the anime prior. For the sake of having it up, I’ll say even though I did watch everything- I would not call myself a huge fan, yes I do like some of the characters and some of the plot lines were interesting, but there was just some aspects I wasn't 100% into ... (I will though admire the production jump to better animation between the first and second seasons).

With that out of the way, I'll simply say this was an odd experience for me. I went to see this in the theatre, which I will make the assumption that it was the sheer amount of advertisements I had to watch prior that soured my mood before the film even starting that may have soured my mood and led this review to be more ‘vicious’ than it would have been, but I digress. There was nothing “theatrical” here, it just felt like I was watching a really long episode. There were attempts to make things more dramatized, but I don’t think I cared. Even this big ““plot-twist”” added in the film just felt so boring. In fact looking back when writing this, I can barely remember what happened in the opening acts of the film just due to lack of interest. The film mostly revolves around the final 3-day school festival at the Quintuplets school, and who Futaro will pick to be his girlfriend of the three. Through the story we see the final day through the eyes of each of the girls. Eventually he makes his choice and we get some backstory but it just feels like too much after my interest was lost.

I will say as some positives, the animation looked very nice, and the score/music of the film was good too. Those were probably the best parts of it.

Also of note I watched the English dubbed version of the film. Which I was surprised by, it was done well, but some of the choices for certain characters felt very off. For example, Futaro has a very deep voice, which although fits his personality does not work very well for a High School student, and the father of the Quintuplets sounded much younger then him (at least to me). I did also like how they decided to dub one of the songs in the middle of the film (a school performance) but the songs at the beginning and end of the film were undubbed.

Overall, if you’re a “ride-or-die” Quintuplets fan, this is probably everything you wanted and more, but for me it was just a waste of an evening. But I will say it’s always nice to see anime in the theatres. This is probably a 5 or 6 out of 10 for me.

Of the animes with romance themes, this one with ctz would be my favorite!!! If it weren't for the ending.
The anime in its 2 seasons developed all the girls very well, except one in specific. There are two specific characters, it's impossible for you not to root for them to end up with the protagonist in the end!
Unfortunately, even though the author was aware of fan favoritism, he chose the character with the worst development, with the shortest screen time and the one who demonstrated the least interest in the protagonist, in addition to following the old cliché of the "Childhood Friend", which automatically throws ... all the construction and effort that the characters put into the entire anime into the trash.
Not to mention the final scene which has no connection whatsoever and leaves us even more confused with the true ending the story will take (even though it is concluded).
In short, the ending is disrespectful to the fans and to the entire story. I think it's really difficult for anyone to look at this and not feel a mixture of sadness and hatred at the end of it all.

Dos animes com temas de romance, esse com ctz seria o meu favorito!!! Se não fosse pelo final.
O anime nas suas 2 temporadas desenvolveu muito bem todas as garotas, menos uma em específico. Tem duas personagens em específico, q é impossível vcs não torcerem pra q elas fiquem com o protagonista no final!
Infelizmente, mesmo o autor sabendo do favoritismo dos fãs, ele escolheu a personagem com o pior desenvolvimento, com o menor tempo de tela e a que demonstrava ter menos interesse pelo protagonista, além de seguir o velho clichê da "Amiga de infância", oq automaticamente põe no lixo toda a construção e esforço que as personagens tiveram no anime todo.
Sem contar a cena final que não tem nexo nenhum e nos deixa ainda mais confuso com o verdadeiro final q a história vai tomar (mesmo concluída).
Resumindo, o final é um desrespeito com os fãs e com toda a história. Acho realmente difícil alguém olhar pra isso e não sentir uma mistura de tristeza e ódio no fim de tudo.

Being an adaptation, very faithful to the manga, of course it will have the same errors as this one. The movie is great, although the animation is very good, considering that it is a movie I would expect much more. I feel that instead of a movie, it could have been another season, or even adapt the ending into a movie but not having skipped so many chapters.
In any case, the story is completely enjoyable, and it has emotional moments, and more than a complaint about the film, it is a complaint about the entire trajectory of the story, which is reflected ... in the film, although there are "more compatible" quintuplets with the protagonist, there was never even a bit of specific interest in one, so even when the important moments are so emotional and tender, it doesn't stop feeling anticlimactic and forced, I repeat, it's tender and I like it, but it's far from well written. Of course I feel sad about the one I prefer didn´t win, but I´m not upset about that, it´s all about the poor writing, like a last minute choice, and of course: Too much wasted potential.I know that saying all this, it seems strange that I give such a high rating to a movie like that, but I can't be unfair either, it's not a bad movie, and if they had made an excellent movie then they would not only have to change the ending of the manga, but add several chapters to this, and change several others.
About whether I recommend the film, of course I do, as long as the viewer has seen the previous seasons, It´s a must, but I have Mixed feelings.

After putting this off for so long, it’s finally time for The Quintessential Quintuplets Movie! I was excited for this far before it launched in Japan, but the hype continued. I’ll assume you’ve seen the prequels for the purposes of this review.

Story and Characters: Set after the events of the second season, our characters enter the events of their final school festival where our main man, Fuutarou, needs to figure out his feelings towards the Nakano sisters. Each girl decides in their own how they want to finish school with Fuutarou. In addition to the various duties around the festival, every ... person has their role. That’s the basis of this finale.

Our main cast of characters remain mostly the same as previous seasons, but they’ve grown up even more. They’ve done an incredible job showing more backstory to every single quintuplet, and this level of storytelling on not one, but five characters all at once is so strong. Character growth is so important in character-driven genres such as romance series, and they highlight it at every plot point that feels so important. There’s a lot of story at each point and I loved it. There are some ups and downs going on with the pacing because we keep going back and forth between the sisters when they’re split apart, but I get why they did it. There isn’t quite as much of a focus on Fuutarou, but it’s still a strong showing.

I would argue that this series has more than one climax – not just the end – but also right in the middle of the movie. I was really worried that the movie would have a hard time keeping me interested after this happened, but they still follow up story-related elements after that so well. There’s some conflict between the sisters again, but they really draw on it well. There’s a problem identified between our characters at every step along the way, and the focus turns to getting it resolved. The best part is that each sister goes about their problems in different ways and that keeps the movie from being predictable – though I guess I’m not surprised because the seasons mostly kept fresh as it was anyway.

Part of me isn’t surprised by the somewhat lower-than-expected MAL score, but I’m curious how much of it is driven by people disappointed with the girl that ended up with Fuutarou. While the final result likely shouldn’t affect the score itself, but execution was really well done. The series maintains a very quick pace, though when compared to when the girls split, it can be a little jarring. My understanding is that they had to cram a lot of source material in a two hour movie so I mind the pacing weirdness a lot less. (Story 10/10, Characters 9/10)

Art: Bibury returns as the studio behind this series and it looks mostly as solid as it did in the previous season. It maintains mostly a strong level of quality animation. There are some medium-range shots that causes the quality to dip a little, but most of the attention remains on pivotal moments for our girls, as it should. (7/10)

Sound: The theme song remains sung by the Japanese VAs of the five girls and while it’s not as strong as the OP from the second season, it’s still a nice tune. The OST is roughly the same quality as the seasons before it. I’m a little surprised all of the VOs for each of our main cast returned – they’ve all had their careers substantially expanded since the very first season. This is excellent news, and they’re amazing still. Tia Ballard (Itsuki), Jill Harris (Nino), Felecia Angelle (Miku), Bryn Apprill (Yotsuba) and Lindsay Seidel (Ichika… who I had the honour of meeting at a convention this year). All five of these ladies absolutely killed it. Jessie James Grelle (Fuutarou) is still strong, many years after taking on the initial role. I believe Apphia Yu returned as the VO director, and this talent remains top notch work. (10/10)

Overall: The Quintessential Quintuplets Movie is an excellent finale to the story that start out clumsy in the first season, but grew and grew until this point where it was a homerun. I can see parts where people will nitpick it – the girl that was chosen, the fast or awkward pacing, the random dips in art quality – but all of it is easily ignorable in favour of the story that is contained within. There is another planned season to show bits and pieces of the story that was skipped over in the main story, and I’ll be there to watch it! (9/10)

It had a lot on its plate between finishing the series, building up the characters to their climax, having Futaro choose a girl, have him figure out which is which and such and such. In my mind, this didn't even have to be the finale, they could've made it a side story or just saved it for later and got more content first but that's not how the manga goes. It tries to cram all that content in there when it doesn't have to, a season 3 would've sufficed better in my opinion and given this ending time to flourish and grow. Your enjoyment of ... this movie is going to be based on what you thought of the manga's ending because it covers from chapters 87-122, removing some context here and there to make it fit the story.

Some additions from the last season get tossed by the wayside like their own apartment but it doesn't hold a lot of relevance here anyway and the reasoning isn't too bad either had they taken it just a bit farther with the relationship of their dad and using what they learned while living on their own. One of the better parts of the manga is that they introduced the idea of why this girl won BEFORE the festival while in the movie, they show a condensed version DURING the confession.

The moment to moment sister stuff really works for me, they even get their own individual segments but that's part of where it gets jumpy and confusing because it all revolves around this festival which means we see the same events take place with different context and different girls, either saving details for later or skipping over them entirely. Because of that, the pace can be very fast despite being over 2 hours.

One thing I proposed for the future was to do something with the side characters, either make them relevant or just don't use them and they introduce a new girl here, her name is Tokebayashi and boy does she get sidelined. She's a good example of that cramming because she's a childhood friend of Futaro that shows up for a scene and then is never seen again, she adds no real plot relevance or character. Then during Itsuki's segment comes another character that just seems very shoehorned in, I actually left the movie at that point and started reading it to see if it was really just that bad and yes, it pretty much is.

Another proposal I made was to start taking a few of the sisters out of the romance scene and give them a different role. Ichika was in a good position for this because of what happened last season and they make multiple references throughout that she's just not going to win. She could've dipped out and been Futaro's sort of guide or neutral to who he should choose because if it was up to him, it would be all, or none and that doesn't fly with me or anyone else for that matter.

I'll also add that the subtitles themselves are either fanmade or just poor because there were a lot of typos and grammar mistakes and script changes different from the manga that just didn't sound as good. So in the end, this movie is a mess but it's here. It just had so much more potential.

I know alot of people were upset with the girl he picked, it wasn't the one I wanted to win, but I feel like it was the right choice once you really think about it. I think most people that didn't like it are angry their girl didn't win. Either way they are all still close and have devolped alot because of him, and unlike other romances he doesn't beat around the bush he is honest with his feelings, and why he feels that way, It's refreshing to see. So I ask that even if your girl isn't picked for the ending to come with ... an open mind.

I don’t even know where to begin with this movie, but like, it is the greatest movie of all time. I went to the theaters with my fiancé on friday december 2nd at 10:45pm. I have not been able to stop thinking about it. Regardless of the conclusion, the outcome, which i mean its a personally problem for me because, yah know, everyone has their predictions BUT! Besides that, this is movie of the year. It is so beautiful. To be able to see everyone one last time on the big screen, it was like being a kid again and getting that toy you always ... wanted. I was in my theater seat just grinning and smiling so hard. I watched the dub version and the cast was phenomenal! Everyone portrayed their characters magnificently! Its about time in the thread i say who my number 1 is, but if you looked at my private pic, you already know, its my girl nino man. Best sister with the greatest development & writing. I will admit, didn’t like her at first, but maaaaaan season 2 is where she shined! Textbook tsundere for sure. Tied with nino is miku. I adore miku. Itsuki is third, ichika and yotusuba (yuck) both aren’t good to me whatsoever. I’m going to buy the blu-ray for this movie when it comes out december 20th. Also, i am going to rewatch the series as well. I just don’t want it to end. Me personally, he could’ve stretched this out to a season 3, show some college life-age cast. I just hate how after high school in anime everything ends. I am hoping for ova’s and specials. This series has definitely made it to my top 5 overall no questions. Over attack on titan in fact! I don’t wanna seem like a rambler, so i am going to end it here. My friend recently finished this movie and he loves it too. I’ve been looking up merch to buy besides blu-ray. Just so I can always keep the series in mind. Just to throw this in there, if you try recommending this to someone, and they call it “trash” “garbage” etc. Pay them 0 attention, people don’t like to step out of their comfort zones and try different genres when it comes to anime, nothing but shonen all day. We as fans know, it can’t get better than this! That’s enough from me, I’m out!

The quintessential example of a modern high school harem, The Quintessential Quintuplets, was the very first harem that I watched. I even got to watch this movie, the end of the series, in theaters, and it was certainly an experience. There aren’t any easy ways to end a harem, especially one with so slight bias towards any of the girls until the end, but I feel that this movie was a pretty good ending to an overall well-done harem show.
Of course, given a show of this nature, there are flaws with the ending of this show. The most obvious flaw with the movie was the ... pacing. This was no short movie: it drew out the end for over 2 hours for what was pretty much deciding which girl was going to win. A good part of this was due to the plot introducing things that were either way too late to introduce with the plot left to cover or that would have been much better done earlier in the show, like in season 2 or even season 1. For instance, there was a character that hadn’t shown up since the first season that took up 10 minutes just to troll the viewers. If she had just not shown up, the whole movie would have flowed much better, and it would have felt like a more smooth flow until the end. There were also 10 minutes of flashbacks that supported the “winner” after it had happened, which would have been much more impactful before. This is not to mention the portion of the movie that did not occur in chronological order, which could have been easily changed to flow in chronological order and it would have made more sense and developed the main character much better, though I guess the decision was made to develop the girls better.
Speaking of the character development of the girls, with the exception of one that could have done better, their character arcs were capped off in a smooth and complete manner. Without saying which one to avoid spoilers, most of the girls had felt like they had grown over the quintuplet love game to become the best versions of themselves, and overall they all got their happy ending even if they didn’t get the guy. There was only one that felt kinda weak, and that’s because it could have been done in a simpler way without extra added characters, and I personally felt like he could have gone further to support her development. Overall, most of the girls could have been done a tiny bit better with maybe a tiny bit more time, but it didn’t feel too rushed, just a bit disorganized.
However, despite the slight issues with plot and character development, the movie was extremely enjoyable, especially in theaters. It was funny (partially because it played heavily into the harem tropes), and overall I had fun watching the characters interact and grow. The art was bright and colorful, and the animation wasn’t anything special but it worked. Especially around when the winner was chosen, the choices of cinematography and stills of the girls were visually appealing and structured well to get you excited (and nervous) to find out if the girl wanted to win won the guy. Every moment I was there I was enjoying myself and having fun, which when watching harem anime matters almost as much as the quality.
Overall, I was satisfied with the ending of this show. Is it the greatest anime of all time? No, it is a trope-ridden harem anime. It is designed so that even if it has its flaws, it is enjoyable. No show of this manner is going to be the greatest anime of all time, but that shouldn't stop you from enjoying it. I left that theater having enjoyed myself, and at the end of the day, that’s all that matters.

A movie that you necessarily have to see the original series for you to be interested in is and the plots have a little more impact, I am sure that many of whom had one of the girls as their favorite will be disappointed, but for the simple reason fact that the protagonist did not choose her, from then on it is an entertaining film which makes everyone feel satisfied when watching it, they present us with different stories that could happen with the different members of the family, from my simple and nothing critical point of view, it didn't seem like the best ending ... or the most successful decision of all, but I can understand it, a pretty good movie that although it doesn't give us anything more in the romance genre and more specifically in anime, it is fulfilling In my opinion, it could be said that it is a simple but beautiful film.

Una película que necesariamente tienes que ver la serie original para que puedas interesarte en está y tenga un poco de mas impacto las tramas, eso si estoy seguro que muchos los cuales tenían a una de las chicas como su favorita saldrán decepcionados, pero por el simple hecho que el protagonista no la escogió a ella, de ahí en adelante es una película entretenida la cual hace que todos se sientan satisfechos al verla, nos plantean diferentes historias que pudieron pasar con las diferentes integrantes de la familia, desde mi simple y no nada critico punto de vista, no me pareció el mejor final o la decisión mas acertada de todas, pero puedo comprenderla, una película bastante buena que aunque no nos da algo mas en el genero de el romance y mas en especifico en el anime, es cumplidora a mi parecer, podría decirse que es una película sencilla pero bonita.

Overall, I really enjoyed this movie and was impressed by its emotional journey, music, animation, and use of important scenes from the manga. I also appreciated the strong theme of family and the character development of the Nakano family.

Although the story was not particularly unique, it still entertained me, and I appreciated the execution of the harem genre. I also really liked the ending and how the quintuplets game was used to showcase each sister's unique qualities.

The art style was a great fit for the story, and the animation was very well done, especially in the emotional scenes which were truly stunning.

The characters were very ... well-rounded, and while some had more development than others, I understood why the MC chose Yotsuba based on her character development since childhood. I was also deeply moved by the emotional impact of the MC's choice on the other sisters.

I felt very engaged with how the characters reacted to situations and events, and I appreciated the focus on the family theme throughout the story.

Although there may be some viewers who do not enjoy the romance or harem elements, I believe that anyone who enjoyed the TV show will really enjoy this movie. However, for those who are not familiar with the story, some scenes may be a bit confusing due to the omission of certain details from the manga.

i think the art is change a bit !! or this is because it is a movie !nevertheless1the art is good !Can't say the same about the plot though!
somewhere in my heart i knew that the ending will be terrible but i still watch this cause of the scene in season 2 where all girls became bride!i thought maybe i mean maybe there is some hope of harem happy ending but i was wrong !horribly wrong !the ending did try to give a satisfying touch but it was too late as nothing can't be undone at that point!!in conclusion if this wasn't based on a ... harem series then this would've been a great plot !this type of plot should be considered as a harem plot at all!!in this movie i felt like the male lead was completing quests one by one and it was leading to one moment which was cringy and dumb but ohk as i was too hurry to know the ending that it was ignorable !!so i am saying if ya all like seeing heatbreaks and winning or loosing in terms of love relationship this is it !but for a harem lover this is hell!!!so as for me it's - 3.4 stars / 10 stars.. i know that i shouldn't blame the author of this plot but the second's season bride scene clickbaited me to watch this movie!!

So from a production standpoint this is barely a movie, it feels like a 2 hour 16 minute episode of a TV Anime. Like theres a couple of sequences where it kind of tries I guess? But man, if this just so lifeless here. Theres a sequence after a scene where the characters do just a very mediocre dance, they had the audacity to have 8 straight stills, I counted, 8. In a theatrical released animated film that did nothing but shut down any momentum this movie maybe could have had. Now I know this is a widely successful Harem manga that don't really need ... anything actually cool, but STILLS Thats just kind of a microcosm example of what I'm talking about and how drab this is shown. They could have made more money just making this to a final season. Music wise i will not remember a single track, its largely forgettable.

This movie also directing wise, is a 2 hour 16 minute harem episode. Its just so slow, "Hey, this is my comfy harem show i want it to take its time" yeah okay sure, but then at least have dramatic scenes feel like anything. Like, theres a moment early on before we have to go down the checklist for every sister to get their scene, and like you expect it to be huge right? He just said how he felt about them and instead of it feeling romantic or a big deal, or having anything happen where your supposed to feel "aww that meant a lot to them" it like MC just told them he's going to hobby shop to get his next Gunpla kit and there like "Bro, you like gunpla? Sugoi" Like theres moments in the movie where what I'm guessing are huge moments for the fans, and theres just no spark, no feeling of romance or this feeling like a huge payoff, its shot like a trip to Walmart, perhaps to the bargain bin where they still sell RG Zeta Gundams.

And whats with shows like these now showing the kiss? Like for some fans its been what over 20 episodes of content? And you can't just show the kiss? Overall I think this is just too loyal to the manga, if it did something to spice it up it could have done a lot to translate this better to animation, like Dezaki's Ashita no Joe. Am I the only person that will ever compare Quintessential Quintuplets to AnJ? But like do more with the source material, anime and manga are complexly different mediums, and should be treated more than just a coloured in trace job with voice acting.

Overall: The, 5-toubun no Hanayome Movie i think would have much bette served as a OVA or a TV anime, Its paced like one, it could have been cut like one, and overall feels very uninspiring. It was an excuse to hear Kana Hana in the booth tho, been a hot minute since i heard her.
