Both series focused on personal realization, coming of life and relationships between people that faced trauma in the past.

Both series share themes of overcoming grief & trauma, finding/forging your own identity, developing kindness and empathy for others & recognizing their own unique identities & struggles. Although at times sad, Furuba and VE are also uplifting, acknowledging in equal parts the sadness of goodbyes as well as the hope of new beginnings. Furuba has more classic shoujo elements and a larger consistent cast whose development is shown over time, whereas Violet Evergarden focuses more on Violet's growth and side characters whose arcs are largely contained in single episodes.

Both animes has characters that at this point are well development, also both have a villain that the characters can do nothing about it, and not because their useless or dumb, it's because the villain have an advantage of everyone, in fact you can feel their fear/frustation for that and that makes it interesting.

If you liked the aspect of how family bonds and relationships were presented in fruits basket and the struggles of finding your own place in the world, then I think the Natsume Yuujinchou series is just the perfect match for you.

Tohru and Nanami (the two main characters) are very similar. In Fruits Basket, Tohru was pretty much homeless, until she comes across Yuki, Shigure, and Kyo to find out that they have a curse where they turn into the Chinese zodiac basically. She was a normal girl all until that happened. Like Tohru, Nanami was homeless until she came across a Mikage who was a God. Mikage made Nanami a God, and gave her a place to stay. That's when Nanami comes across Tomoe and some spirits. I'm not the best at explaining but trust me, if you liked Fruits Basket, you'll definitely love Kamisama  read more

This is another amazing show that isn't as heavy as fruits basket but still gives some fantasy elements and things like love triangles that we all love. Zen is a similar character to Yuki and Shirayuki is very similar to Tohru. Also if you love Momiji, you'll love Obi, they don't have similar personalities but they both are that 2nd choice charter that really adds to the love story. Overall, this is an amazing light anime that I would recommend to fruits basket fans!

If you need a series to watch, I'd seriously recommend Idolish7. It's very underrated here in the West/USA especially, but very popular in Japan only because they tend to watch more idol-like anime. The only difference between this and other boring like idol anime is that this one has good plot that you'd get hooked on from the very start. The first season starts slow with very cute funny moments (so worth watching tho), but once you get into season 2, the drama and suspense gets very real JUST LIKE HOW FRUITS BASKET DID IT! (And the thing is, it doesn't end there. Right now,  read more

Two masterpieces. If you're looking to character development and drama, this is your choice.

Actually this anime was the first that came to my mind as I was reflecting on it after the final episode. While both seem dissimilar at first, with different leads, plots and types of stories, both ended up being highly emotional. That is the main similarity. One goes away extremely satisfied, yet feeling an emptiness in the gut that would be familiar to those who watch anime of a similar genre.

Both of them use the supernatural as a major part of the plot line, Both are drama/romantic SOLs where we watch the relationships between characters evolve Both will make your heart warm and leave a void after you finish them

This is more of a "feeling the vibe" recommendation. However, some legit points to cover over is that the two seasons are the last from what is known of this time, serving as a finale in the leading everyone has been waiting for. Both are really really good at being the best in their respective demographic, just getting on the mark every time with no problems.
