They are both in the Samurai category. Samurai deeper is packed with action. If you loved Rurouni Kenshin, then you can't help but love Samurai deeper!

they both involve samurai meeting a young female and agreeing to travel together in search of another samurai. i think both are really good and if you liked samurai champloo you will also like samurai deeper kyo!

Both have the human yokai transformation for the main character, with alot of mystery of the relationship between the yokai part and human part of the main character.

It follows the same concept of collecting legendary swords made by a renowned bladesmith and has Japanese history to serve as background. Its main character also serves as comedic relief.

Both have interesting samurai main characters going on adventures with another person/people who are trying to figure things out about their life.

Fighting and ok/decent plots. They are the kind of anime you watch for the action but don't drop because the plot remains fairly interesting.

Both storyline are in feudal Edo, and historical charachters are mainly involved here with an evil side touch to it, Dagger of kamui is more closer to history with its char, Sam. deeper kyo is more fictional storywise but still has a nice set to it,and they capture a good taste of the japanese culture then!

samurai anime where boys protect a girl and both have human-demon thing

Both series focuses on the historical ages where warriors, swords, and ideologies clash. Both series balances each other between soft comedy moments and those with emotional appeal. The main character in both series discovers more about himself and others as episodes progresses. Both series features combat involving kenjutsu and puts other warriors' skills at test.

Supernatural demons, lots of blood and historical characters involved in something BIG, one more oldskool than theother but both have a very dark story to it

I think these shows have somewhat similar art styles & story structures. Obviously there is a huge difference in setting, as Outlaw star is a space anime and Samurai Deeper Kyou is a samurai anime, but they have similar stories and pacing. Both MC's are excessively badass, and have a love interest in their crew, but the romance subplots very much take a backseat to the action. There is a LOT of adventure in both shows, the locale is changing every few episodes, if not every ep. Both main characters are seeking a legendary place/object that serves as the main objective in the shows. The  read more

After watching both series, there's definitely some similarities between these series not just on historical terms but also the fact that both series contains +the theme of clan rivalry +a darker story as episodes progresses +forbidden love +betrayals +supernatural elements +an adventure like feeling as the main characters are in a form of journey +in depth drama with emotions added in

They both include samurai with crazy unknown hidden powers, that results in some pretty cool sword fights, as well as some small romantic scenarios.

they both involve the demon world and both are known greatly for their war tactics(in kyou kara maoh its his water majic skills, in samurai deeper kyo its his samuria skills.)

They both have 2 main characters "sharing" a body: Kyo/Kyoshiro, Dark/Daisuke.

These two Anime are set around the same time period of a certain age of war and chaos.Their primary characters portray the image of being the bearers of a supernatural power that only themselves or their own clans are able to naturally inherit. Another point to note is that Shura no Toki's main character(s) resemble the easy-going, joyfully spirited 'good half' of SDK's main duo combination. The OP & ED songs are pretty similar in the genre to suit the Anime. One more aspect to mention is that the openings of both Anime give a short briefing of the main plot just before the opening  read more

If you like one you should like the other ! Saizou (Brave 10) really look like Kyo (SDK), strong, never lost, power, and seem emotionless. Both have a girl (Yuuya in SDK, Isanami in B10),who will fall for the emotionless samurai, and this samurai would have some emotion for this girl. Both have same characters : Yukimura Sanada, Srutobi Sasuke, Iga Tokugawa. In brief : - Same characters - Same mood - Same Romance - Great combats scenes. If you like one, you will obviously like the other.

Kyo is in Kyoshiro's body, similar to how the snake of the festival is in Yuji's. And they both go to get the original body back. There is also romance and supernatural elements.

Stories mostly involving fighting/war that ultimately end up in a unexpected plot twist. Both are pretty wild 26-ep rides.

Both series contain real historic events, places and people which are mixed with fantasy elements. If you liked one of them, then you will probably like the other one too.
