Hanhua Riji

This show is a light-hearted slice of life which offers very fast paced humor with its endless onslaught of jokes. The characters are decently written and play off each other very well. Production quality is average, but always delivers when it counts. The story involves a girl who suddenly finds out she is the daughter of a celestial being and a youkai, but their magical powers were perfectly canceled out and she was born a completely normal human. Later she gains the ability to see these supernatural beings and her daily life gets turned upside down. Overall very enjoyable and random with its humor. Comparable ... in style to shows like Nichijou albeit without the incredible budget.

So lads, I came across this hidden gem of a Chinese anime at the beginning of this month. However quarantine made me lazy to review it so here we are finally at the near end of April!
(Insert crowds of boos and screams saying "WE DON'T GIVE A F--")

Now guys if you are serious about comedy or even liked other Chinese comedy anime (Killer Seven for example), then definitely go watch this shizzz folks!

Although I will personally admit, the humour did dry out for me in the last few episodes so that's why it lost the 8/10 score for me.

I liked how this ... anime story was about an ordinary working class girl (Su) who is pretty much summoned by the hot stud of a food god to live with two gods Tianjin and Dukui. Basically, Tianjin has the power to turn into a smartphone and Dukui has the power to turn into a cat (reminds me of Sleepy Ash from Servamp by his attitude). All characters were pretty likeable if you ask me!

As well, you are in for a treat with well known Japanese references like Dragon Ballz definitely in this!

Yeah guys, I really enjoyed this Chinese anime, definitely give it a watch while you're quarantined at the moment!

Han Hua Ri Ji provides unique slapstick comedy, with many of the jokes I have never once seen explored in this way in anime for how 'everyday life' its humour is focused on. It's a beautiful hidden gem to behold. The first episode was absolutely hilarious that I'm genuinely considering to re-watch the show soon so that I can re-experience all of it again. The ten-second scene after the credits really sealed the deal for me with the mood of that episode, and I slapped a 9 on the score right then and there.

The main character, Ting, is incredibly realistic, a lot of anime fans ... would be able to relate to her. The other side characters primarily by her side is a cat, Diqui and her mobile phone, TianJi that interrupt her days by becoming a part of her life as gods and monsters, and I can't really explain further without giving some of the early jokes away. There are many anime and non-anime references throughout that add to that entertainment. A few obscure advertisements to other donghua are also implemented in the show.

I really enjoy the catchy credits song with a paper cutout of the protagonist in real life. It really adds to the feel of the show.

The first half is funnier than the latter, in my opinion, but both halves are still truly great and the final episode was hilarious yet also melancholic. A few extra scenes are at the end of the episodes so I would suggest checking them out.
