The Japanese word "iyashi" (癒し) means healing, and the term "iyashikei" refers to anime and manga that "heal" the audience by instilling a calming feeling or evoking emotional carthasis. Almost always, Iyashikei stories have peaceful, somewhat mundane, and nostalgic atmospheres. The settings are idyllic with little or no conflict, and the narratives focus on personal reflection, heartwarming moments, a vague sense of melancholy, and/or an appreciation for the small things in life.

One popular trope in romance anime is two characters who’ve either known each other since childhood or having met in childhood falling in love when they grow older. The “childhood friend” is also a common rival in love triangles and harems.

In Japan, this is known as “osanajimi”.

I divide it into three types:

childhood friends-to-lovers : two characters who have been friends for most of their lives grow closer
childhood promise: two characters were friends in childhood and made a promise. Usually, they separated after that. Now that they are reunited, it is now time to fulfill the promise
romantic rival: a now grown-up childhood friend is rival in a love polygon or a harem. Often, because she has a past with the main character, she feels she is the best pick and doesn’t want to “lose” her to others she deems less worthy

Yuri anime based on manga from magazine has its own interest stack because it will have a “distinct style”.

Here are the associated characteristics:
-titles are usually slice-of-life with comedy
-they usually have a pretty relaxed and easy-going vibe
-there is sometimes a topic the anime revolves around that you will learn about over the course of the show (could be a sport or could be something like pottery)
-the character designs will always be cute girls. If there are adult women, they will still have a cute look. You can say it’s “moe”.
-typically, there will be no boys or men in the cast except maybe as background characters. There are exceptions, though
-they often don’t have much of a plot or goal that the characters are working towards. They really are all about the jokes, the vibe, and whatever subject the characters are interested in
-the yuri will typically not be explicit. The most you will get is suggestive jokes and characters having fantasies. Actual relationships rarely happen. You probably won’t see a kiss. You probably won’t hear a character outright say “I love you”. If you need to see things like kisses and love confessions, most of these shows likely won’t be ones that you’ll like.

Here are things to keep in mind:
-being written by a woman doesn’t mean it won’t have fanservice
-being written by a woman doesn’t mean it won’t have elements which could be considered offensive
-the primary staff of most anime is men, and most anime is directed by men
-the sexual orientation of manga artists, light novel authors, and anime staff are generally kept private
-“who exactly wrote this?” isn’t always an easy question to answer. Let’s say there was a card game, then a manga, then an anime. Who would you credit, in that case?

In my opinion, people make assumptions about anime written by men and anime written by women, and those assumptions are only sometimes true. I do find that anime written by men and anime written by women feel “different”, but not in the ways that people tend to expect it when asking for shows written by women.

Animes with girls crushing on eachother, or just with great romantic/sexual tension between them. Altough it goes nowhere, and there is no actual lesbian relationship by the end of it.

Shows that have elements of hard science within them, such as chemistry, biology, physics, and astronomy.

Anime with a female lead that centers around the pursuit or enjoyment of a particular hobby. Hobbies may overlap with work or careers. Usually these are CGDCT, Slice of Life, and/or Iyashikei but there are some exceptions. The main point is they have a passion for their hobby! WIP

Animé for the stargazer in all of us. Unlike my other lists this list contains series that I have not seen or rated. I am just making this list because MAL does not have one. All titles will be listed alphabetically. If I am missing something (and I probably am) let me know. Astronomy does not have to be THE theme, it just has to be A theme. Space flight and space exploration are NOT astronomy.

Some girls have visible upper teeth on an anime that doesn't show them on another characters. That's similar to the cute fangs that some anime girls have, but the upper teeth is a hard to notice detail, probably because in some other animes the character design includes this teeth (ex: K-on, a classic). I'll not include animes like that.
So I'm listing some animes that have a girl with this distintive look (only she has the visible upper teeth).
