The studio SELFISH, has picked up yet another doujinshi heavily focused on rape to adaptation into an animation. The source material for this animation goes by the same name and was made by the group “aomizuan.
The plot is based around our main character meeting a cute girl on the train who he after starts dating her and from there their real adventure together starts. Our main character fits into the typical cultured anime trope for a protagonist with the exception that he doesn’t have the hair covering his face and rather looks like Nishikata from “Karakai Jouzu no Takagi-san”. But he still got the mind
...
of every protagonist in that trope.
Accompanying him is the main girl who ends up becoming his girlfriend. She is sweet and innocent, but with a disturbing background of commonly getting taken advantage off by strangers. This is something she has become used to, but when our main character did exactly that then it was different for her. Our Nishikata look alike protagonist has been granted the power of plot armour which made the girl enjoy it when he did it.
There was little to any character development from our main character, he went from being a bland person with only having intercourse on his mind to be still just that but with a girlfriend. The female main character on the other hand have went through a lot. She started by just being a sad soul only wanting to get home safely from school to be with her family but always ends up getting taken advantage off by strangers. She was not a respected member of society and was not seen on as anything other than a young jizz-dumpster. But after meeting the main character she got a reason to become better, to improve herself as a person. She has been avoiding harder than ever to stay away from all the people who’d usually use her and saved herself for the only one she loves.
The dialogue between the characters aren’t really the selling point so the plot is broadly interrupting every dialogue longer than 10 seconds through our main character who mercilessly takes advantage of her while she’s enjoying it. This takes away any deeper depth to the female character when we can’t get to know her better when she’s always getting interrupted when she talks. Tbh it is a bit of a weird complaint of me to pick on a cultured anime having more action scenes, but that would lower our enjoyment if we don’t get to know the girl better and get a sentimental attachment to her.
CGI animation isn’t the most popular way of animating a series and often gets talked down on by a big portion of the otaku community. But this series is an exception, the main female character looks good in CG, the art style fits well in a CG world and best of all the animation is fluent. And the choice of animating this in CGI was a great idea because that style really compliments a lot of the action scenes we see and it is really easy to see what positions the characters are in.
This series has a lot of action scenes and could have taken advantage of that to explore a bit more territory between the characters and what they’re into. All the action happening is pretty basic while sometimes having some amazing scenes. But rather giving us the basic scenes that really doesn’t show well what’s going on they could have replaced it with some fetish exploration scenes so we could see these characters react to various situations and give them a bit more of a personality. There are of course a lot of disturbing fetishes that can ruin the series as a whole and totally change the setting of this series, they are of course a no go. But still there are some that are commonly liked and would appeal to a broader audience like the couple trying the back door, it’s just a short step past from soothe front door so it wouldn’t change the setting and the plot as it is. The lack of creativity of the action made it feel a bit repetitive whenever there wasn’t a really good scene.
In conclusion I’ll be giving this series a 9/10, the plot is fine but the animation really makes up for it. The animation is done so well that I’d give this is a 10/10, but I don’t see this as a flawless piece so I cannot give it a 10. The lack of character development through dialogues because of all the interruptions in addition to the lack of creativity and exploration with the fetishes makes me take away a whole rating and drop this down to a 9. But in the end it is a good series and definitely something I’d come back to and watch again, and I highly recommend even if you dislike or love CGI animations.
