Gunjou no Magmell

Gunjou no Magmel is without a doubt one of the most underrated animes this season. I feel like not enough people are talking about it, and that leads me to writing this review.
After reading the synopsis and looking at the front cover art for this anime, led me to having some quite low expectations, but boy I was wrong. After watching the first episode, my impressions for this anime changed immediatley and to be fair, it reminded me a lot of "Made in Abyss" (my favorite anime of all times) except this time with an OP MC.
The story for this anime is pretty solid ... (even though it may get repetitive). I personally am a huge fan of mysterious worlds filled with potential to explore, and I believe that this is the main feature that got me hooked on this anime in the first place. I also enjoy the "dark" aspect of this show, which just adds an extra enjoyment level to the show.
The art and sound is also pretty good. I really enjoyed the opening art style and I loved the ending song even more. Sadly, I don't believe the OST is as "remarkable" or "good" as all the other animes out there, but that is one of the only negatives that I could spot in this anime.
The characters in Gunjou no Magmel are also all quite unique and filled with mysteries of their own, and this is something I'm really eager to uncover.
Overall, I'm giving this anime a solid 7/10 <3

First of all: this anime isn't for everyone. What I mean is, this anime has a very unique way of presenting their plot that a lot of people may not like. It doesn't seem to have any actual plot line, and has a lot less action than one would think. In a sense, it's a lot like Gintama or SKET dance, where the story focuses on the MC and helping different people with their problem every episode. But what makes Magmel of the Blue stand out is that it is NOT a comedy: it is a action drama that looks at various moral and ethical ... problems rather than the 'go defeat this monster for me' norm.

Story 7: While this may prove to change in the later episodes, there are currently no specific plot lines. It jumps from one character to another and focuses on a specific aspect of their problem. IMO, Magmel of the Blue does it pretty successfully, albeit with a few problems.

Art 9: The opening sequence was beautifully executed, and the art really brings out the fantastical element of the new continent. Sometimes you might forget that the MC still lives in a basically modern-day city.

Sound 9: The OST brings out the right feels, nothing much else to say.

Character 6: Probably the biggest problem with the anime. Every character seems to be generic stereotypes of themselves. Hell, the monsters have more diverse personalities than the characters.

Enjoyment 8: Being a die-hard Gintama fan, it's hard for me not to enjoy it.

Overall 8: While not the best anime of the season, it's still a good show that's worth giving a shot.

This is just some gibberish review that i write since I'm mad about how it all ends.

For me anime ends on the episode 10 and does 10 episodes were so much fun, always new adventures and new dumb people to fight off.

Seems like the anime was written by like 4 people since it's style changes like every 2-4 episodes, don't know what happend here but still enjoyed it.

The character itself is a charismatic guy that struggles with money and works as a proffesional rescuer from a new continent that was created, by higher powers. The continent itself has a lot of potential you can ... find some intresting creatures there. Wish anime focused more on creating new spicies and plants in a way that involves more people. Seems like writer lost his ideas around episodes 6, but still next 4 episodes were decent enought. The last 3 are really not worth your time unless you want to finish the series and be disapointed like i was.

Episodes 11-13 are a joke, out of the blue comes out a big bad wolf and tries to scare our little lambs. From comedy to drama in just 3 episodes, the anime shouldn't have taken this path.

I first started watching this show because of the first scene having a character that looks like killua and i thought he was the main character , and that its gonna be HxH rip off, i mean the plot kind of reminds you of HxH but with a more "moral" MC, the first episode started very well , there is suspence , mystery a twist everything was great , i felt like this is gonna be the best show ever , but then the 2nd episode came out and oh boy i was disppointed, too much exposition , like half the episode was exposition, the ... MC didn't do much and it was overall boring , but watching the 3rd and 4th episode i can say its an enjoyable show but not as Great as it could've been.
the MC Inyou is very handsome i gotta say , his personality is cliché but that's never a bad thing for me , though it does get little bit much everything he starts by refusing the mission then accepting or changing his mind, but overall he is great.
then there is Zero the cute little girl , and she is great , i really like her , she might be my favorite anime girl besides Mikasa and Yuki , she is cute , smart, nice , and overall enjoyable character to watch speak and react to things.
The show is enjoyable for sure , i hope it keeps the feel and stays away from the too much exposition , and i'm gonna enjoy it for what it is.
do i recemend it? yes sure , but i wouldn't if you don't like slow paced anime

Very enjoyable and I finished it in one day, the plots are great, unpredictable so i was really caught up in those dramas this anime got. This is one of some anime that has no bad episode in my opinion. But it might kinda boring if you focus too much on the explaining, instead of that just look how the action turn out, it will be a 10/10. And more, the story and plot is kinda unique to me, yeah it actually got a "enough" smart and strong main but not too much overpower, they still have weaknesses and arent perfect, and specially the way ... they met, the way they relax and enjoy being together melt my heart.
I laugh a lot while watching it, you can watch this anime with your family too, the content is quite meaningful, especially in the last episodes(every episode had some violent scenes so remember that before watching!)

Good, clean, fun anime. There's not much of an overall plot, so it's very episodic, and the quality of the writing varies strongly between each episode--nothing so far has even come close to the brilliance of episode one. Episode 1 sets the show up to be a serious drama but it's honestly more of a monster-of-the-week comedy, a lot like Western action cartoons. It has a neat art style but the animation is super limited. The tone varies between comedic and serious depending on the episode. The characters are pretty one note but still fun. I'm still probably going to watch it every week just ... to see the ridiculous writing style and interesting world. The OP is so good alone that it bumps the 6 to a 7.

Until the 12th and 13th episode, the whole serie was fun. The characters seem a little bit strange first but later you'll gonna love them. The musics and the story is good, but there is no actuall main plot in the serie. The fight scenes are enjoyable.

I loved it untill the 12th episode, but than. Oh boy! The last 2 episodes are pathetic nonsense. Writing down why, would be spoiler, but I advice that if you liked the serie until the 12th episode, do not watch the last 2. Just read the story what happened. I felt literall pain watching it and skipped like 5 ... mins from the two episodes.

The starting of the anime really excited me as with a concept of a new continent and explorers the concept really made me into the show making me feel that the show may have the story and the fighting but much to my Imagination the anime turned out pretty different even though the new fighting style with a powerful mc was good still the potential of a good story this anime wasted was immesurable it was still ok tho I thought we would atleast get a good ending but no out of everything the ending is what dissapointed me the most

The anime did have ... some good parts and some comedy there were some good episode which helps me give this anime a solid 7 it was an ok anime.

If you don't mind light-hearted comedy this will be great. The plot is extremely non-existent in this series until about the last 2-3 episodes which is such a shame as the manhua is so much more plot-forward and there's so much to explore. The manhua is actually super interesting and I'm so confused why the production company chose to ignore all the potentially amazing portions to animate.

If you are watching the anime after reading the manhua you're going to be sorely disappointed. If you're reading the manhua after watching the anime, you're in for a really pleasant surprise.

Personally I still enjoyed the anime ... as a fun slice-of-life-ish comedy where the potential for so much plot is just thrown away and left forgotten. Hopefully the next instalment (if any) will be more similar to the original work and focus more on the plot and its progression rather than use 9 episodes as fillers for a series that only as 13 episodes.
