Waking up in a strange bedroom in a dream world, teenager Haruto Tsukishiro finds a strange app on his phone. When he activates the program, an odd woman appears and tries to drag him to her realm. Luckily, a mysterious, white-haired girl severs their connection and helps him escape, revealing that the woman is a witch; however, their conversation is cut short. As Haruto enters the realm again, he meets an anthropomorphic, talking cat named Katsumi Kanzaki. While the witch's minions pursue them, the white-haired girl opens a door for them to escape.

After their ordeal, Haruto describes their savior—which only he can see—and Katsumi, the leading authority on dream world research, realizes that she must be "Lily," a being that resurfaces repeatedly across multiple dreamscapes. Hoping to leave the dream world through a blue door, they enter the witch's realm once again. Finding themselves in peril, Lily reveals the truth to Haruto: witches suffer from "Sleeping Beauty Syndrome," a coma-like sleep state induced by torment in their real world lives. Thus, they cannot wake until they are defeated in the dream world.

After finally defeating the witch and locating the blue door, Haruto and Katsumi say their farewells, promising to meet up in the real world. However, when Haruto exits through the door, he awakens in the dream world bedroom once more. Seeking answers, Haruto and Katsumi try to uncover the mysteries of the witches, Lily, and Haruto's own inability to leave the dream world.

This anime felt as if I was watching an alternative version of Alice in wonderland mixed with the movie paprika. At first I thought I was following the amines storyline, then things kind of got...weird, then I thought I knew what was going on. Finally I got to the end and felt the same way I did after watching that movie inception. The art work is amazing and bright, and I think I liked one of the characters, and I don't doubt anyone who watches it will enjoy it. Overall it was kind of cool and I'm sure this anime is perfect for people ... who like Alice in Wonderland, or anyone who prefers anime that is newer as opposed to the older art styles.

Mixed Feelings

18if is a strange and indecisive anime. It came with an tie-in mobile game "18: Kimi to Tsunagaru Puzzle" and had 11 different directors for the 13 episodes. This constant change of directors led to a bunch of different art styles and stories. Thus it is hard to come up with a single genre type for this anime. But most of them would categorize under Psychological as psychotic issues and their after effects are a constant underline here.

The story, in broad terms, follows Haruto as he confronts girls is psychological needs in their dreams. He is assisted by Professor Kanzaki with his own agenda and ... mostly acts as a bridge between reality and the dream world.

It is hard to generalize what makes the anime, as a whole, good or bad, as, as mentioned earlier, almost each episode had a different director. Most noteworthy are episodes 7 and 8. 7 had a very distinct paper cut art style and clashed hard with the grim story therein. 8 on the other hard could be considered a masterpiece as it utilized the anime medium to tell its story in a perfect way I haven't seen before.

The challenge of this anime mainly comes from the ups and downs of the individual episodes as the noteworthy downs can dim the enjoyment of the rest. Thus I would advise watchers of the series to view most of the episodes as a distinct single unit, with the exception of the last 3 episodes which form the finale.

for starters i would say teddyloid is a monster.
I prefer dark, strange souls, where sadness joins joy, like yin and yang. if an anime does not respect these things it does not even deserve my 8. we must say however that if an anime is made on a road, like for example Prison school which is based on ecchi, I do not use this criterion. however in this case 18if does not follow a single path, so ...

STORY: 3
-ok, the episodes are all disconnected from each other, the last three explain everything.
-the first 10 speak of strong concepts: such as bullying, revenge, suicide ... but ... in an undeveloped key; as if each episode were a 10-page book, and they only tell the first side, they talk about heavy topics without getting into the heart of the problem.
-ok, we are in a dream world, so the mind creates what it wants, but here we have a cauldron with senseless stuff inside.
-ok, all anime have something they want to make the public understand, and this anime has it too, but it's not enough to have it here and there, and then wash your hands of it
-the last three explain everything, but I didn't understand the story about what it is, what the moral is. eva, adamo, dio, eden, witches, haruto ... why?

ART: 3
I'm a fan of Ghibli art, pastel-like colors on paper, not too light like in "no game no life". I accept different styles; here they also used more techniques, but without impressing me.

SOUND: 6
as I said earlier in the three teddyloid songs (red doors, break the doors, salvation) I perceived something epic, which transcended me; as if a drummer demon enters a church and starts playing, while a solo angel guides those present to heaven through a vertical beam of light.
the rest did not seem like anything special, maybe I would quote "Too Late" Nene ft Inori Minase from episode 7

CHARACTER: 3
the cat doctor not bad. episode 9 the idol misaki with the transformation of him, amuses and excites at the same time.
the rest is ...... dots many dots without substance

ENJOYMENT: 4
if it were addicting I would have finished it in a day; actually it took me a year, I started again from the fifth episode after a 1 year break. so it wasn't fun to watch it.

OVERALL: 3
personal advice:
I would not recommend it to anyone even if you want to watch something without obligation (family guy)
I repeat, listen to the three songs of teddyloid anddddd enough
