Nakane Makoto is a freshman in the private school of Kamimori Academy in Harajuku. He enters the drama club because his best friend, Wakabayashi asked him to do so, but it turns out the club is on the verge of dissolution. A girl from Makoto's class, Saitou Koyuki is also a member of the club. In the meanwhile, Makoto's schoolmate since junior high - now a student of the other class - Abegawa Nozomi seeks to launch a so called "study club". Both clubs get into a pinch, as the student council won't finance their activity for this year, and even the day of a performance is approaching... Can the drama club survive this crisis?
How do you intrigue me more than works like Clannad and Kanon? Is this the first love at first sight my high school buddies always talked about? You are always at the rooftop of the high school I often visit. I always see you alone looking at the sky, flying CG paper airplanes and drinking juice boxes repeatedly. The backgrounds you are always at feels surreal and the raindrops look like chalk drawings; it mystifies me as a viewer and draws me in. Thus, I often hear these remarks: sometimes, you shout random hiragana and consider
that material for story. Sometimes, you try to make people laugh, but people don’t. Sometimes, you try to put drama, symbolism, and characterization into the work, but people put it off as blunt and boring. However, you are special and that’s what that matters.
Why are you always alone, my dear? Do you ever feel sad being alone?
I sometimes cannot hear you in the beginning; your lovely voice is too soft as the trains and the cars loudly pass us by. However, when you speak up, I cry with glee. You speak well and I remember all your lines well. Your singing in the beginning opening animation made me sniffle for more. When the drum beats, it is done in taste. When your voice reaches falsetto, your voice mixes with the air; I call it raspy beautifulness. The synths make a great companion, never distracting me from your singing; whoever is playing should get an accolade for making even the great composer Chopin cry in his grave. Why does this song not deserve the reputation of being a memorable love song?
The music that you have carefully put in when it comes to dramatic scenes give a lot of meaning and uniqueness to the work. I can listen you play the instruments all day; every work feels very similar to each other and cohesive by nature. Sometimes, I make the mistake of mistaking one song as another. Nevertheless, when you play your music, you play at appropriate times and I am mesmerized by your skillful playing.
I don’t want you to be alone anymore.
I repeat my opening question I begin in this letter, “Steady x Study... where have I seen you before?” I think the answer is simple, my love... you are everywhere. You are everything I know that is true before my eyes. I have seen you before in so many other places and that’s why you’re special to me. You are special because the world revolves around you; Steady x Study, you are the light of my life.
I think I am in love with you. Madly in love with you. Should we go to your father, Idea Factory, and get married now? I don’t have a wedding ring with me right now, but... Really? You love me? I’m glad.
Idea Factory anime. You know these guys can be considered the best in showing how trash you can be on an animated production just for the sake of making some cash from their appalling OVAS and like that get a way to promote their crappy videogames.
About the story I simply don't know what the hell did I just watch. The show is simply a waste of time and I mean this literally, the purpose of this OVA is to waste time because the story starts and 5 minutes in have passed and there is no freaking dialogue for a 24 minute runtime show. They just
show the characters standing, some girl drinking juice, another girl going to write something on her notebook and a guy making a paper plane on the roof of the school. Later there is a meeting about the school budget for school clubs and some students get into a fight because some school clubs are not approved and when they are about to explain something they cut for an idiotic commercial pause when IT'S A FREAKING DVD NOT A BROADCAST FOR TV. Later there is a love confession and they love each other because reasons that I don't know or that only are explained in that crappy PS2 game which this OVA is based and they live happily forever...(?) Like I said its a freaking waste of time but what other Idea Factory anime isn't?
The Animation Hoo Boy where do I even begin with these awful animation?
The only good thing about this one is that at least there wasn't putrid CG they have constantly using but the 2D way they decided to use for this thing it is still garbage. They focus so much on those awful backgrounds that look like they were made in Flash and with hurry because the designs are simply dumb. The animation is so low that there is a scene that the singing club members are warming up their voices and the animation is so lame... wait a minute there is not even animation, what they do is put the mouth changing frames like when you passed a photo real quick and they just changed them the mouths don't move, they slap the freaking next mouth movement one after another. Also there is a freaking problem with the camera. The camera is always moving left and right and without reason. It seems that the animators couldn't bother in mantaining a stable animation frame and just move scene so they can't make the characters appear more.
Sound is simply abhorrent. They put this highschool male and they decided to hire a girl voice for the guy and it sounds so off. The movement of the mouth also doesn't look great for what the characters are saying. They just move the mouth up and down without making any phonemes It's poop.
And that's everything with it. There is nothing more like I said from 24 minutes only like 6 minutes is dialogue. This is not even a source of entertainment, it's a time drainer slapped on a DVD and decided to call it entertainment. Just wondering how the hell did Idea Factory survived this long when crap like that was around during their time on the early 2000s.
