Hard to find good romance anime which isn't filled with stupid and boring cliches, so here's my attempt to list the best shows, or at least the ones I found entertaining enough to bother watching.

The yuri anime genre unfortunately has a reputation for creating relationships between female characters that are incredibly ambiguous. This is a list of anime in which the romantic/sexual relationship between the two girls is very clear (and not one-sided). The girls in question should be major characters and their relationship should be one of if not the biggest driving point(s) of the show. No hentai titles, as adding even one would get the whole list marked nsfw. Some representation on this list is better than others, and I have provided an opinion under each title.

This is a stack of Anime which each have a Main Cast of Only 2 Females, no more, no less, and no males will be in these Main Casts.

A common type of romantic pairing you’ve probably seen many times before.

One character doesn’t express a lot of emotion. She’s hard to get to know. She doesn’t seem to want others getting close to her. She may be aloof. She may be socially awkward. She may be very logical with little understanding and/or regard for emotions. She is usually introverted. In some cases, she can knock sense into the other girl’s head if she is acting on her emotions without thinking. In some cases, she hides her romantic feelings from the other girl, thinking there is no way they could be returned. Her hair is typically either dark (either black, or a dark shade of blue or purple), white, silver, or a “cold” colour. She is the “ice”.

The other character may wear her heart on her sleeve. She is warm and friendly. She is sometimes an airhead. She is easy to talk to. She is often the one making others smile. She may be considered by her love interest to be “too kind and innocent for this world”. She brings happiness to the other girl’s world. When the other girl tells her her feelings, expecting rejection, she tells her she feels the same way. She may represent “hope”. She is often extroverted. Her hair is usually blond, pink, or a bright “warm” colour. She is the “fire”.

Together, they are “Fire x Ice”.

Because these titles were published in a yuri manga anthology magazine, they will have yuri as their primary focus.

Here are things to keep in mind:
-being written by a woman doesn’t mean it won’t have fanservice
-being written by a woman doesn’t mean it won’t have elements which could be considered offensive
-the primary staff of most anime is men, and most anime is directed by men
-the sexual orientation of manga artists, light novel authors, and anime staff are generally kept private
-“who exactly wrote this?” isn’t always an easy question to answer. Let’s say there was a card game, then a manga, then an anime. Who would you credit, in that case?

In my opinion, people make assumptions about anime written by men and anime written by women, and those assumptions are only sometimes true. I do find that anime written by men and anime written by women feel “different”, but not in the ways that people tend to expect it when asking for shows written by women.

Ah, yes. Dumpster fires. They smell terrible. They look terrible. However, people like me still can't take their eyes off of it. What makes them so addictive?

Trash comes in many forms. The good trash. The awful trash. The ugly trash. I'm trying to focus on the most entertaining dumpster fires. This makes it so that shows like Eromanga don't even end up on this list.
