Kirepapa.

The first and, in my opinion, most important aspect of a good Anime is an engaging story played out by equally interesting characters.
In this case I'm sad to say that the plot is nothing too special, it's actually quite sappy and a bit generic, even for this particular genre (and the whole 'must protect son from everyone' is just plain weird). In most yaois the characters are pretty much made after the same scheme: one character is extremely jealous, the other one is your typical, naive, clumsy uke and another one a cool macho. Although Kirepapa contains these models, they're matched up in a slightly ... different way than it lets on at first glance. The back stories are surprisingly coherent and thus allow the contrasting personalities of our two main characters to develop enough to make them an interesting couple.
Compared to many other yaoi OVAs and series, Kirepapa has an appealing character design. Although the animation could use a little more dynamic and fluidity at times.
The soothing, almost dream-like backgrounds add up nicely to the overall easy-on-the-eye look.
All in all it's a lovely little OVA that every fangirl with a liking for boys love should be satisfied with.

To summarise it one word : Hilariously brilliant.

The story may not sound compelling to you at first : A beautiful father is highly posessive over his equally cute son. Nearly everyone is gay here, even the father.. (Which makes me wonder how he became a father in the first place..) Well no matter how cliche or overused it may sound, the main focus of the show isn't the plot, and if there WAS a plot, there's no way it would have been able to develop within these 2 short episodes, which is partly the reason why I wish there were more episodes.

The ... art is fantastic, well everyone looks overly young, but I guess that's visually pleasing, though unrealistic. It still deserves a 10 though. It has a very -how should i call it- smooth feel. The colouring and shading is fairly natural too.

The seiyuus did a good job in their roles. There wasn't any OP theme though, but the background music during the show fitted the mood and wasn't ear-jerkingly awful, fulfilling its role. The only reason why I didn't give it a 10 was because I felt that Riju's voice was slightly.. annoying.. I mean sure, it sort of suits him as the young boy he supposedly is but still.

The characters were fairly developed for a show with 2 episodes, and that's saying a lot. Some background information about the characters are revealed. Though not really elaborated on, it plays a role in the show.

Enjoyment? 10, of course! The light-hearted mood really made my day, somehow. Along with the jokes, and everything else. I don't know why, but I couldn't stop laughing throughout the whole thing, whether out of pure enjoyment or something else, but it was really something. The comedic aspect of the show, that is.

Overall, it was really worthwhile watching this, but if you're not into Boy x Boy relationships, avoid this at all costs. Bear in mind that this has very partial nudity as well, so if you're looking for shounen-ai, this is not it. However, it's still something along those lines, so there's no harm in trying it right?

There was a bit to much sex but other then that the story was cute... It really focused on the trials an everday cuple might go through.... Even though there is only 2 eps the characters grew within those eps... It covered the same as a full tv series would with out all the extra crap..... So if you dont mind a graphic yoai story then I recomend that you watch this.... it really is one of the better ones

I am really quite fond of this. I think that anyone who likes yaoi will enjoy this OVA. The only problem I have with it is its length. This is the kind of story that would do a lot better if it had time to develop... If it were an anime, then undoubtedly the viewers would be allowed to become more invested in it.

Also, there are many plot twists that come back to back. So you don't really get the full blow and it ends up being kind of cramped, but the sweet sentiments about it are there.

Well... I cannot recall when I first started watching YAOI or when I first started liking them, but the thing is... here I am now writing a review on one of them!

Beautiful ... dad?

Well that's just right. We basically have a whole plot based on the character of a handsome father, Chisato, who falls for his son's best friend. His son being 15!

I don't really understand why yaoi anime often embody this pedophilic aspect inside their plots but, sadly, I have to say, in this case, it works.

It may be a liiittle unrealistic (I mean, on what universe does a teenager look hotter and ... more MATURE than a 35 year old man?) but the truth is the characters of the story bond really nicely together. What is being highlighted here is LOVE above everything. The love of a man towards another man, a parent towards a child. At the same time, the IRONY built on the protagonist comments on the hypocrisy and the hyperbole of parents' reactions towards gay sons. All this, expressed in a humoristic way.
I guess that's why I loved it. It was funny and cute.

In the end, you never really expect much from a two-episode anime since everything is unfolding far too quickly but I would definitely recommend this for anyone who wants to just sit and enjoy a "light" yaoi for about an hour.
Last but not least, "Kirepapa" would also serve as a nice introduction for those who haven't watched yaoi so far but would like to see what it's like. There are not many sex scenes as we are mostly focusing on the romantic part.

In Kirepapa, the artwork was pretty good, nothing spectacular, but a far cry better than some of the animation I've seen out there. The storyline is a little overplayed,what with the over-protective father and his precious child, but the way the characters are introduced and pulled together makes it all worth while. I enjoyed the comedic aspects of this series (and there are a few), as well as the puns that were worked into the dialogue. Overall, a decent pair of OVAs that made me wish there were enough episodes to call this an actual series.

It's a very light hearted anime, and I got a good laugh while watching it. I think it works very well as a comedy, but you can't take the story too seriously. Short and sweet, each episode wraps up its own mini-story very well, so there isn't a feeling of incomplete-ness that I find with some OVA.

The art is very good in my opinion, and since everyone looks young-ish it doesn't feel weird while watching it as long as you don't think too much about the logistics of the story (Very big age gaps between couples).

Downside is too much random blushing and cliche ... moments, so it can only be enjoyable if you don't take it too seriously and get a good laugh out of how ridiculous some scenes are. Also would help if you're a fan of BL, because otherwise there probably isn't too much allure for you to watch it.

It is kinda silly, but since it is comedy it is allright. It is really was hilarious, though guy who went for main hero was too persistent - on the place of main hero i wouldn`t trust him, excuse he made for overprotective father "if i were just fuck-toy for him he wouldn`t went through such trouble to get me" it was poor excuse, if guy is persistent it is not neccessarily means he likes you, maybe he just don`t like being rejected or having his caprices not fulfilled, IMHO. Also was weird how main hero worried about his son might get raped - while ... it is usually happened to girls and in that moment he didn`t know that his son is gay. What saved impression is hilariouds moments and light-hearted atmosphere because of which you hardly could perceive that story seriously.

This is your typical BL. Seme x Uke style.

Muscular (kinda) guy likes cute guy. Cute guy rejects muscular guy. Cute guy has a best friend who also likes him. Two guys compete over one. Obviously the main character wins, takes the cute guy and they make love. The end.

(Seriously, it's like that. Well, almost.)

Anyways, I loved the animation. I found it very gratifying, and the sound was more or less. The plot was kind of cliche and really predictable, but I can't help loving it.

I recommend it for anyone who's looking for a funny but interesting ova.
