Both are Sanrio anime that have a focus on people's dreams. They feature talking plushie-esque animals from a magical land coming to the human world and partnering with a group of girls. To avoid spoilers, the best way to put it is that a lot of the characters and situations are so similar they feel like they were intentionally borrowed from Onegai My Melody for Mewkledreamy.

Anime that is not your anime. Fun and charm each episode. Might be targeted for kids but it is NOT KIDDY. Even adults would like it. CUTE GIRLS ARE HERE !!!!! Diamond Queen and Yumeno Uta ~~~

Honestly surprised this hasn't been reccomended before. Both follow the premise of "problem of the week", not necessarily always a monster/clow card but just in general some sort of problem that troubles the charming main charactes. My Melo is alot more comedic and tends to go for a more slice of life tone compared to CCS, but even without the action moments it's still a joy to watch for the comedy alone. CCS is more story focused, there's a sense of progression (albeit slow) and higher stakes with the "monster" of the week. (the clow card) Depending on who you are that may or may not turn  read more

Child like fun and girly aesthetic Both series were also made by the director, Moriwaki Makoto, making both shows have the same vibes and humor that I oh so love If it wasn't for My Melody I'm not sure if I would have given Pripara a chance (at the time I didn't like Idol anime due to love live bitterness) My Melo a show that is near and dear to my heart that helped me discover my favourite anime of all time and my waifu, Lala Manaka Watch em', they're fun, I like em'

both are about a little alien with superpowers that sometimes causes troubles and both about a teenager girl who have to protect that alien

Although the two are in different settings where My Melody is in modern day Japan and Fushigiboshi is on a made-up location being on a star, they share a similar aspect of fantasy components and magic throughout. There is good vs. bad at play between the two where the encounters they make through friendship are prevalent to their stories. Innocent romance between kids is also quite the factor between both shows too that play a bit on the plot but do not serve as the main purpose to the whole show in both.

They both have the same kind of romance and they both have a magical creature the difference is that in shugo chara the person there with gets to transform and the shugo chara is born from an egg

Both Sanrio. Very adorable and cute stories.

Both anime follow a similar formula: a character has some problems or is feeling down, then the bad guys steal his/her heart flower and turn him/her into a monster or try to make his dream come true which causes trouble for everyone and it's up to the heroines to defeat the bad guys and turn things back to normal.
