Both are the same story, it is about D'artagnan and the 3 musketeers, the difference is that in Anime Sanjuushi the characters are people and in Wanwan Sanjuushi the characters are animals. Wanwan Sanjuushi is more childish and innocent, on the other hand Anime Sanjuushi has a bigger human touch and toys with your emotions a little bit more. Wanwan Sanjuushi is 26 episodes because it only toys with the musketeers rivalry against the Richelieu guards, while Anime Sanjuushi has 52 episodes, the first part is about that feud and the second part is about the king twins. Both series were adapted from classic swashbuckler novels (three musketeers vs Zorro). The heroes face the challenging schemes of the powerful villains (Cardinal Richelieu vs Commander Raymond). Both feature young sidekicks (Jean vs Bernard), blonde romantic interests (Constance vs Lolita), and god-tier horse mounts (Rosiante vs Viento).

A guy of noble origin, but poor becomes a fighter for justice. He finds friends, and a love interest. One major enemy is conspiring to take over the country, and various episodes are dedicated to the protagonist's fight against the antagonist. Various mechanical items are featured. Some serve as weapons, and there are even flying machines, which would have been quite a sensation in their time. If you are looking for light hearted adventures in a historical setting with some fantastical elements, I recommend these titles.

Besides the historical reference there is a striking similarity between the characters of Aramis (Anime Sanjushi) and Oscar (Rose of Versailles). Anime Sanjushi however gears on a light-hearted and melo-dramatic road than ROV's tragic landscape. Both anime are also focused in serving the royalties.
