A tragedy about orphans with a very deep emotional bound. After the tragedy they want to take vengeance for the loss. Both have a certain amount of military settings.

Both fight supernatural enemies and both are set in the same time period, the Taishō era.

Beautiful men in a military setting, both shoujo, both about historical Japan mixed with fantasy.

Donten ni Warau and FMA are both character driven, brother-centered shows about fighting for strength and the ones you love. I highly enjoyed both; in fact, they're two of my favorite Animes. They are emotionally engaging, and connect you deeply with the characters. Both have plenty of action and a little supernatural (FMA has alchemy and DnW has the Orochi, Omnyoji and the Shinobi--ninjas). Between the three brothers in DnW, I'm not sure who would most parallel Ed and Al. Both have lost their parents from the beginning, though Ed and Al have left and the 'Three Cloud Brothers' remain at the Kumou shrine. FMA is based  read more

The villains are snake-y. Pretty action-based. Happy smiley protags. And face it... If you still like Naruto, you need new anime.

Amazing shows with immense character development. The good characters of the shows try to uncover the mystery of a huge powerful dragon and a way to defeat it.

Both series take place in some historical era. The problems center around a supernatural force which places the young protagonist under the protection of an older main characters.

these Anime's know the way of the samurai. if you love historical anime with ninjas and samurai warriors then this is for you. the fighting skills and spirit of the warriors within these anime's are very similar and unique; the only difference being sengoku musou does not have a supernatural element to it like donten ni waru.

Fantasy series with action taking place in historical Japan ( in Dororo it is Sengoku period, in Donten ni Warau it is Meiji period). In both animes main characters come from samurai families. Supernatural elements are based on shinto and japanese folklore. But Dororo is much darker and more action focused. Donten ni Warau is softer and focused on family and relationships between characters.

Both have some historical value about Japanese myth, demograpghic, and similar ending. Something that makes different is Hiro no Kakera's romance is going straight and foward, but Donten ni Warau have almost zero romance despite it's genre (shoujo). Then Hiiro no Kakera packed in reverse-harem trope (one girl is surrounded by many bishoujos) and Donten ni Warau is fly toward shounen tropes

Both anime has a non-human evil god like character that is like a enemy of the entire humanity that resurrects in every certain era. Both also has a group that has a sole duty to defeat the evil when it resurrects.

I get the same feeling from this two--the family and comedy atmosphere. I think, if you like any of the two, I can guarantee that you'll like the other one as well. One is slice-of-life, while the other is fantasy-historical genre.

While Laughing Under the Clouds is a lot more intense and full of action than My Neighbor Totoro, one of the most important themes in each movie is family. The Kumoh brothers, much like the Kusakabe family, are very close to each other, and their actions are driven by wanting to help their family members. They also both have a supernatural aspect

Have you ever wondered how Donten ni Warau would have turned out, if insted of Orochi, aliens would have been the main antagonists? And what if Donten ni Warau would have been more of a gag anime? Donten ni Warau may then have turned out more like Gintama, since Gintama takes place during the same era as Donten ni Warau, but with another dilemma; aliens invading Edo. The three Kumô brothers are a bit like the Yorozuya of Gintama, as they help people that are in need of help, with Tenka Kumô resembling Gintoki Sakata in a way. They both hide their thoughts and worries behind  read more

Both have a stong feeling of family. Both have that one character that represents the sun. They are both beautiful and tear jerkers. If you like one, you will definitely like the other.

Stories about out-of-the-ordinary brothers with a strong connection to Japanese folklore. Both convey a message about goofiness and joy trough dramatic events.

1. Anime are similar in genre. Both have sword battles. Both are mystic and detective. Heroes are people with superpowers. 2. Heroes struggle with something monstrous and incomprehensible. 3. The main characters are similar in appearance and character. They are cheerful, strong, like alcohol. They have lived far away from most people for some time. 4. The main characters had unusual abilities, were a member of power organizations, were strong, have shown promise. But they suffered and one a day became outlawed. 5. The main characters have a complicated relationship with a former school friend. Which is misinterpreted by one of them.

Donten ni Warau and Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann both involve the threat of incoming antagonists as an overarching plot. Both start off grounded in reality but then take a turn for over the top action, especially in the second half. The main characters while being unique to each series have similar relationships among themselves. Tenka and Kamina act as the older brother - mentor type, they're both heavily involved in the plot in the latter half of the series. Soramaru and Simon wish to be independent and strong without the help of their brother or 'bro', respectively. And finally, both convey and build the message that family  read more

~ 12-episode long anime~ ~ They both have many same genres, samurai/assassin, super power, historical, etc.~ ~ Good vs Evil~ It's kind of hard to set what's exactly so alike witch this two anime, the story are kind of alike and also the characters.
