World Masterpiece Theatre is a Japanese TV anime staple that showcases an animated version of a different classical book or story each year. It originally aired from 1969 to 1997 and then resumed in 2007. WMT series were originally produced by Mushi Production and Zuiyo Eizo, and then by the latter's successor Nippon Animation, and originally air primarily on Fuji Television. This is a stack with anime that take place in different European countries, either completely or in several episodes when characters are traveling to these countries. Not all will be included otherwise ill have to make like 3 list These classic Nippon Animation series were usually adaptations of well-known literature by non-Japanese authors. Many ran for exactly one year as part of the well-known family-friendly program "World Masterpiece Theater". This is not include animes that has inspired by classic lit or mentions it, mainly this is on anime that adapts or loosely adapts on classic lit. (Note: I'll try and update as much as I can and add some obscure ones!) Anime series not so well known for their titles, some not necessarily underestimated, but easy to go unnoticed in the community. In these animes the protagonists (as a couple or individually) somehow take care of babies or young children. Collection of historical semi-realistic or realistic works that detail the historical events of Europe or daily life of people in European historical context. Adaptations, sequels, prequels and spin-offs of western films, TV shows and literature in anime format Anime that comes packaged with socio-political commentary. Sometimes as subtext or metaphor, sometimes screamed out loud with abandon. This collection of series, movies and shorts represent a specific mood, expressed within the anime media. Their pace is most likely slow, and are usually focused at the complex emotional web that surrounds the worlds and characters that are within them. |
