Absolutely incredible!
This anime is an explosion of action, comedy, and psychological drama
The combination leaves a jorney of a rollercoster of emotions that you'd never want to end

Like Yu Yu Hakusho (by the same creator) the first few episodes run quite slow, but once the story gets rolling it is unstoppable
HxH is still in keeping with YYH's style, but vastly improves on it
There's a much bigger focus on character developement, this gives more of a sense of watching the events that unfold thru the characters eyes and getting to know them on a more personal level rather than getting to know them and their story from ... a spectator's point of view

It also keeps surprising the audience with unique and imaginative battles

Gon Freaks is a young boy who lives peacefully on a rural island, until one day a mysterious man who calls himself a hunter brings him news that his father is still alive, and is also the greatest hunter of all time. With this new information, Gon is now determined to become a hunter and find his long lost father. First, however, he must pass the hunter exam, where he will make new friends to help him in his adventure.

The manga and this adaptation of Hunter x Hunter means a lot to me, really so there may be some bias here. It follows the story of Gon Freecss, a boy who aspires to become a hunter to meet his father Ging. This anime has beautiful storytelling and shot composure, OST, voice acting etc. It's everything you'd like about a show. It becomes a 10/10 at the Yorkshin City arc/Genei Ryodan which I thinks completely outshines the reboot in that aspect. If you want to get into this version there is a TV anime and three OVA's so enjoy! This is not your average shounen ... manga btw it feels like it bends the archeotypes of your average shounen (I still love stuff like Naruto and Dragon Ball don't get me wrong.

Hunter × Hunter est un shōnen manga écrit et dessiné par Yoshihiro Togashi. Il est pré-publié depuis mars 1998 dans l'hebdomadaire Weekly Shōnen Jump de l'éditeur Shūeisha, et a été compilé en trente-six tomes au 4 octobre 2018. En mai 2013, le manga s'est vendu à plus de 65 millions d'exemplaires au Japon. La version française est publiée aux éditions Kana, et trente-six tomes sont sortis au 3 mai 2019.

Voici le synopsis :
Gon Freecss a douze ans, et rêve de devenir hunter (chasseur en anglais). Les hunters sont des aventuriers d'élite qui peuvent être chasseurs de prime, chefs-cuisinier, archéologues, zoologues, ... justiciers ou consultants dans divers domaines. Son père, Ging Freecss, qu'il ne connaît pas directement, est considéré comme un des plus grands hunters de son temps. C'est aussi pour le retrouver que Gon veut devenir hunter.

Cependant l'examen de hunter, qui a lieu chaque année, est extrêmement difficile et périlleux. On dit qu'un candidat sur 10 000 arrive sur le lieu des épreuves et qu'un seul candidat tous les trois ans devient hunter à sa première tentative. Durant les épreuves, il n'est pas rare d'être blessé, voire tué par des monstres, des pièges ou même d'autres concurrents…

Au cours de cet examen, Gon va rencontrer différents personnages, aussi bien amis qu'ennemis : Kurapika, dont le seul objectif est de venger son clan, le clan Kuruta, assassiné par la Brigade fantôme et tenter de récupérer les yeux de son clan, les pupilles écarlates ; Léolio, dont le but avoué est d'acquérir de l'argent pour financer ses études de médecine ; Kirua, qui a le même âge que Gon, fils d'une famille d'assassin d'élite, la famille Zoldik, ne souhaitant pas poursuivre la voie de sa famille, qui participe à cet examen par simple amour du défi ; Hisoka, dont la grande passion est le combat contre des guerriers très puissants ; ainsi que beaucoup d'autres…

La force de Gon n'est pas que physique : son charisme, sa pureté, sa gentillesse, sa grande générosité et surtout son incroyable capacité à attirer la sympathie l'aident souvent à sortir des situations les plus périlleuses.

After writing one of thee classics piece of work Yu Yu Hakusho, it's clear Yoshihiro Togashi wanted to try something new in the genre he wrote in. Many people argue that Hunter is the definitive shonen must watch even for people who usually wouldn't enjoy it. They are not wrong, although at first glance it might look like a typicall weekly plot filled shonen, the story develops into something much bigger than Togashi himself imagined. It's typical for shounen animes to not have a clear ending or even and end to begin with, the stories are usually made with the feeling that the main character ... always has nothing to loose; Hunter isn't different in that way but that is not why it is so successfull. The success dosn't come from being 'different' than shounen tropes, rather it comes from mastering the art of what makes shounen great. Togashi fills the world with interesting characters that build the world into something that evolves into a great scope. He dosn't put any limits in the world, the conflicts are relatable to our situations and even directly insipred by them. Most of the side characters have their own stories that is perfectly blended in the two main character's decisions which makes the reader never be left out of excitement for them (Gon and Killua).

Although i very much like the 1999 version of the anime, it can't be argued against the greatness of the 2011 version. The never faulting animation quality and amazing sound track just wins over me over this version.

What an amazing series this was. Just as good as the newer version of Hunter x Hunter even though it has some similiar elements and subtle differences.

The sounds of this anime was amazing it had this dark and light hearted vibe to it if you get what I mean. The music really reminds of FMA and so if you liked the music in FMA then you will most certainly like it for this anime. The visuals weren't bad or good either. It didn't have that crisp sharp look to it and most of the fight scenes were not comparable to that of the 2011 version.

The ... story was really amazing I enjoyed it alot. It had the perfect pacing and good consistency mixed in with a great buildup of plot. Also they didn't feel us with too much dialogue or monoluging. Though the ending was kind of bittersweet for me since the series reached the manga it stopped producing any more eps. The characters were likable and were well written. They did an amazing job really taking their time and introducing us to the characters unlike the 2011 version and probably had better filler episdoes than the 2011 version.

Overall a very enjoyable series. "Poetic, Entertaining and Far Reaching".

The storyline is, personally, very touching. Although it's not quite riveting it's very nice, easy to follow, and keeps you entertained throughout every episode. Although the first few episodes are a bit slow to some, I find that it is necessary to help develop your thoughts on some of the characters and introduces a solid setting.

Because the anime is a little old the art isn't quite on par with today's animes but I find the art acceptable and don't mind it while I'm watching the series. Overall though, this is one of the best animes I have seen and highly recommend it to anyone ... who hasn't seen it.

I can summarize the entire show in 2 seconds. Don't step on an ant, human is bad. Go play enter the gungeon instead of watching mid x mid. This review isnt long enough so here is the first bar of Jake Park's intellectual work of art.

hunter x hunter is a really cool series which puts bravery and cowardness in one character(Gon). Gon joins an exam (the hunter exam) to be a hunter which is a person that can do lots of extraordinary things. On his journy Gon meets some new friends Killua, Korapica, and Lyorio. Gon wants to get the hunter's license so he can find his father which went missing after becoming a hunter, so Gon was raised by his aunt. Watching Hunter x Hunter is not a waste of time so watch it or you will regret it for the rest of your life.

Such a good anime. Good characters, development, is simply flawless. A pity that the manga does not have a consolidated end yet, but I have faith that one day the author will be able to finish his creation, despite his condition. Important to point out that the villains are extremely well built, as well as the protagonists. I really like Chrollo Lucilfer, although in the arc in which he appears in the anime he is not very well developed. Despite the fact that he is not well developed, he remains a great villain because of this because of this lack of development, because he shows ... himself a a mysterious character, and this contributes to his personality.

In summary: It is a great anime, there are amazing characters, but unfortunately it doesn’t have an ending, but despite not having an ending it is simply surprising.

One of the best animes in anime history. The anime is about a small village boy named Gon," who is searching for his father and wants to be a hunter just like him. His adventurous journey unfolds many twists and turns with super good action and story plot. Even the antagonists of this series are worth loving and rooting for. This is the second anime after Naruto that is so well thought out and really well made. Higly reccomended. The plot is intriguing and the character development is impressive. Fans of Naruto will definitely enjoy this anime.
