Steins;Gate Movie: Fuka Ryouiki no Déjà vu

As this is a review and people dont want to be tired by many words and long sentences i will try to be short!

I am a very big fan of the original Steins;Gate series and after finishing the 24 episodes and the epilogue(ep.25) i scored them with 8.

This particural movie wasnt of course the kind of movie which is a summary of all the episodes and is made only for purchasable purposes (as the series were good, everyone will buy and watch it)!!

But my excitement ended there!!
I Had a really great time watching the movie but i felt like it was another episode or should ... i say 5-6 episodes together with a plot after the end of the series!

The 90 minutes of the movie passed really quickly but after the end i felt like watching 5 episodes in a row.

There wasn't anything special for me and of course i cant compare it with the series!

Story : -6-
The story was nice but kind of repetitive for those who have watched the series! I cant tell more you have to watch it and realise it yourself.

Art : -7-
Nice effects, nice music, nice alter of colors and images! Typical Steins;Gate!

Sound : -8-
Opening and ending song are really great. As for the inside sound it is awsome too as i never felt like something was missing. The scenes were fulled properly with the correct music.

Character: -9-
Okarin, Kurisu, Mayuri.... Who can really be dissapointed by any of these protagonists' expressions and decisions...

Enjoyment : -7-
Comparing with Steins;Gate i cant go higher than -Good-
In the first place i wanted to put a -6- but it's Steins;Gate it can't be worse than -7-!


Summary : You will enjoy it but you will feel kind of weird and your excitement before you watch it will propably let you down!!

Ahh Steins;Gate... It was you who introduced me to MAL Top Anime list and again, it was you who made wonders after your masterfully played 24-episode anime. I mean for Merlin's Pants, just how perfect are you? (As an Anime, of course. I am not a maniac.)

Well well, here we are again, another piece of Steins;Gate heaven, presented to us in a most... delicious, shall I say? Now let's just dwell further to this review.

If you have watched the TV show before this movie -which if you didn't you wouldn't come to this page-, you know the art and sound quality. So I'm passing ... these, just noting that voice acting was really wonderful. I'd like to mention the development of characters in this review.

You remember the episodes, where Okabe was desperately trying to prevent the death of his (and of course, ours) lovely childhood friend Mayuri? How he was trying to keep his sanity, after watching her death over and over, feeling completely powerless, and keep going back in time just one more time save her, and couldn't talk about it to anyone?
Remember his loneliness? His pain?

Those episodes left a great impact on me, since Okabe Rintarou wasn't any other MC, he was Houovin Kyouma, mad scientist, who could take on CERN, destroy aliens, stop time and save the world. Not that he did any of those... maybe the time part. And the world. And CERN. -SERN-

In the animes I watch, I always want someone to acknowledge the MC's pain and loneliness, even if that person is holding his feelings back. I don't know. Maybe that's a feeling I have about personal life. Giving half of your weight to someone, I believe that's the biggest relief anyone can have. And this movie delivers that. It understands Okabe's loneliness, his past, his actions, his character, his pain, and voila! Lends him a hand.

Don't get me wrong. This movie's MC is Makise Kurisu, and while she does a great job about being a MC, I'll get to her in a minute.

What I want to say, is that Okabe's, -and everyone's- character development is improved, even if it seems impossible after that TV show. The last bit that tied me to the Okabe Rintarou %100 was his farewell to Kurisu with one word before his disappearence: "Forget." That one word alone says a lot about one's character, and makes his stand in the tier of MC's.
Ah Kyouma... you'll always be my favorite character, don't you worry. Now let's move onward to Kurisu.

She starts as a side-character, or at least, you get that feeling, before the movie's angle slowly turns to her. She doesn't remember the events of Okabe's past, since it was in a different time-line, she has these deja-vu's. Only for little things, such as a spoon and a fork. But these deja-vu's slowly build-up, and finally reaches a breaking point. We see their romance in a most beautiful way, between a love-immature couple, and her struggle to honor Okabe's wish for her, and to see him again.

I finally felt relieved after someone understood what Okabe went through after his days of time-jumping. Kurisu understands that pain, not being able to save the person you love, and being reminded of this fact everytime you try again, she strengthens her bond with Okabe after realizing his state of mind. I loved her character for that, it was something real, not pushed, not over-dramatic, not... well, bad. It was not bad. Her actions was completely justified and believable. I mean, even her blushing in front of Okabe. It's not some high-school romance, it's someone's real feelings who never experienced love or a kiss for that matter.

Mayuri... well, there's a lot of fire about this character. Let me just say, she is not stupid.
Let me say it again, not stupid. Yes, she is slow, and she doesn't have a high IQ, but she's not stupid. She's someone who... completes the lab. Someone who "finishes" the characters. She was a glue, or an important piece of brick. Her character is full of moe yes, but she is a deep character. Not in a wise-man deep way, but as far as emotions goes, she was the real deal. Maybe you would feel different about her character, but I felt that she was someone who couldn't be replaced.

About the rest of the side-characters along with Mayuri, they finish the movie, but -obviously- they don't get much screen time.

Overall, this movie was fantastic. I mean, it really way. Quite wonderful indeed.
Watch it. You're missing a lot. In fact, you lost a lot of time reading this review instead of watching the movie.

Successor to the largely popular series, Steins;Gate, Steins;Gate Fuka Ryouiki no Déjà vu is a full length movie aiming to bring viewers back one last time into the nutty, but at the same time ever so entertaining, world of the small lab in Akihabara. If one wishes to view the movie, it is heavily recommended that you watch the original 24 episode series, or else you face the risk of not properly understanding certain references to the original plot and overall missing out on the whole experience and enjoyment of the movie.

Story: 9/10
The plot behind the story is simple enough, but has a ... resonating tone as through Makise's self discovery and acknowledgement of the potential horrors of time travel and messing with world lines. There are constant references to the original plot, which is hardly a detriment considering the stellar plot the original series entertained. It is told mostly from the point of view of Makise Kurisu, which is a welcomed change of pace, and offers many enjoyable and humorous moments. Although admittedly predictable at times, I didn't find myself minding too much, as just being able to experience the great concept and environment of the movie overshadowed it.

Art: 9/10
You're going to get essentially the same art you did in the anime, but with a little bit more attention to detail since it is meant for the big screen. The character models generally stay true to the nature of the VN artwork, and it's definitely not a detriment or viewing displeasure.

Sound: 9/10
The soundtrack is very familiar to the anime, as some songs are reused or refurbished, refined and resent into the fray. Notably, there are a few variations of the famed song "Gate of Steiner" that can be noticed throughout the movie, as it often adds a suspenseful or sentimental tone to the scene it's used in. Overall, as stellar as it was in the anime.

Characters: 10/10
This is personal opinion, but the characters of the original anime were stellar, all with unique personalities, and there wasn't many characters that you came to hate (or didn't come to understand in the case for Kiryuu). That being said, being greeted with Mayuri's tuturu~~ and Faris' familiar nyan speech pattern was both nostalgic and very enjoyable. If you've watched the original series and enjoyed the characters, you're going to get a lot of the same in the movie, which in this case was definitely a good thing.

Enjoyment: 10/10
Definitely a movie that was worth watching. From beginning to the end, it kept me enticed and happy to be back in the life of the Mad Scientist, Hououin Kyouma and his perverted, genius, experiment loving assistant, Makise Kurisu. If you thoroughly enjoyed the main series as I did, then I'm sure you'll find something to enjoy greatly in the movie as well.

Steins;Gate: Fuka Ryouiki no Déjà vu is a movie aimed to treat fans to one last dosage of sci-fi drama and comedy, and it does this very well. From the first scene to the last, the charming characters spring out of the screen and welcome you into the world once more, and bid you farewell with plenty of closure at the end. Although a little predictable, the movie acts as a worthy and enjoyable end to one of the better sci-fi plots and environments created in anime. Watching this movie, is definitely the will of the Steins;Gate.

I really didn't think the movie would have been anywhere near the anime. But with this one I was gladly proven else wise. The movie fit perfectly with the original story. It's like the movie was staring in a mirror, was virtually the same thing, but on the other side of the mirror. Subtle differences and the Kurisu's point of view. This allowed the movie to add 'extra' onto 'ordinary'

To expand on Kurisu's point of view aspect, I've seldom seen an Anime in which the point of view is someone else other than what we've been used to throughout the main story. So when I ... realized this story was being told as through the eyes of Kurisu I was overjoyed to learn this. In doing such we got treated to something different. As well it allowed a bit more development for her Character and let us connect with her more.

Overall it was a thrill from start to finish, equal to the anime in my thoughts. Didn't give you too much more. And it didn't package the same thing with a new label and call it a new product. Why my personal choice to why Steins;Gate and it's ova movie are member one!

Sometimes, a series reaches its end, and there are many questions left to answer. Sometimes, these questions are never answered. Other times, these questions are answered through a second season, or an OVA, or a movie - just something to continue the plot, and help it reach a concise end.

And sometimes, a series reaches this conclusion on its own.

In the event of the latter, a continuation is a difficult thing. Not only does it have to overcome the hurdles of any normal sequel - staying consistent with the characters and the like - it also has a problem that is more or less unique ... to it: it needs to be relevant. In other words, it needs to overcome how unnecessary it is to be completely successful.

An example of an "unnecessary continuation" that succeeds in at least being relevant would be something like the third Madoka Magicka movie, Rebellion. Although it has problems of a very different sort, it succeeds in bringing in and addressing things that are new and relevant, leading the franchise in a different direction.

With that said, it is my personal opinion that Fuka Ryouiki no Déjà vu doesn't really clear this hurdle, or at least not in one piece.

First and foremost, its nice to see the Steins;Gate crew back together. All the characters are more or less how they should be, and that makes the movie enjoyable in and of itself.

Without going into too much detail, the movie introduces some aspect of the situation found in the original series that may have not been addressed, leading to some pretty severe fallout. But it is in the details of this that it sort've falls flat.

The situation, new as it is, is something that is more or less the same as the situation in the series, with different characters, and is solved in a similar - though far less convincing - way as well. Very little is accomplished, both in actual events and more subtle things such as character development, throughout the course of the film. If the events of the movie never occurred, the characters involved would likely be in the exact same place they are by the film's end.

That said, though, it's Steins;Gate! The central problem introduced in the movie is certainly an interesting topic, even if it doesn't realize its full potential, and as I said, the characters are fantastic as always. The film gets rather intense, much like the series; though I think if it was a little bit longer, and allowed the audience more time to process things more, it would have amplified the drama.

Overall, not a bad movie. Some untapped potential, feels pretty damn unnecessary, but still a lot of fun.

Steins Gate: Fuka Ryouiki no Déjà vu is about the side effect of main series. There is alot of room in time travelling and time paradox stories.So, this movie perfectly wraps up the concept of time paradox.h

Movie was amazing every bit as series. And it really was a good sequel.

Fuka Ryouiki no Déjà vu takes place after one year after main story in Steins gate time line. Okabe does not have to worry about anything more like time machines, unavoidable deaths but still messing with time will cost Okabe something. He experienced all time lines with help of Stiners help but now it ... has opposite effect on him. Now, he is trapped between multiple time lines and unable to differentiate between them as they are 99.9% similar. He disappears from Steins gate and move to other time line. Miraculously, Kurisu manages to remember Okabe's existence through deja vu - determined now to do everything she can to stop him from disappearing forever.

Kurisu's is playing role of protagonist, who is trying to keep Okabe in steins gate time line. In simple term, you can say roles have been switched. I will not go into details as it will be counted as spoiler. But Kurisu does what ever she can to make him stay in steins gate time line.

In first of half movie, Okabe is the main protagonist with his usual lab coat and mad scientist. So, Okabe's fans will not get disappointed.

The Visual quality is as good as TV series. So, you don't have to worry about Art.

In movie, Relationship between Obake and Kurisu has become more strong due to some pleasant factors. In end, love is between two people. It does not care about which time or what time you are in !!

This is quite a brilliant movie. It is able to compress strong feelings that come from watching the second half of Stines;Gate and cleverly put them into a single 90 minute movie. The plot of this and of the second half of Stines;Gate are very similar but the roles are switched. It was really cool to see a character face an incredibly hard and sad choice and then see that while the initial choice make sense, it was one that was impossible to live with. I'm sorry if that is spoiling to much, but because the movie is so plot heavy is really hard to ... talk about without discussing it. Basically watch the movie and be prepared to experience the core of Stines;Gate all over again.

The best part about this movie is that it isn't one of those crappy anime movies that squeeze 24+ episodes of a show into one big movie that's just a summary of the series. This movie actually continues where the last episode leaves off. And you notice that most of the time in those crappy movies, the plot is usually very cliche and predictable and well, downright lame? This movie isn't like that at all. You get all of the elements that made the Steins;Gate anime great. It has great comedy, romance, suspense that will leave you an unexpected tap on the back away from ... crapping your pants, and best of all, it has some of those mind blowing moments that makes you rethink your life. Also it ties up loose ends and explains some of the things left unexplained in the anime. This is a must watch for those who enjoyed the Steins;Gate series.

When i first watched Steins;Gate I was sure that it had the potential to be something great, and I'm glad to say that I was not mistaken.

Despite having it's flaws it truly was a wonderful show, filled with likeable and memorable characters as well as a great soundtrack and a fantastic art style. The concept of the show was simple, yet executed in a great way and the way the time travel mechanics were explained was in my opinion one of the best I have seen.
I rated the show and OVA a 9.3/10 and it instantly became one ... of my favourites.

Now for those who are unaware the movie "Steins;Gate: Fuka Ryouiki no Déjà vu" follows the events of the original show and OVA where Okabe finally finds himself a the Steins Gate time line; in this timeline the amount of time leaps made by Okabe causes his reading steiner to malfunction and thus our favourite mad scientist disappears from the world.
By having Okabe disappear this movie focuses a lot more on kurisu's character and her relationship with Okabe than in the actual story itself, and while I didn't dislike this choice I still felt like the story of this movie was executed poorly in some aspects.

Now let's get some things out of the way, both the soundtrack and animation aspects of this movie were great, I have no complaints in this regard. The art style is still as good as it was in the tv show and the animation, while not the best out there was smooth and consistent. The soundtrack was also pretty great with kanako Itou returning to sing the opening song for this movie and while it may not have been her best work it was definitely a nice touch.

Now this is the part of the review that actually matters:
The ending to the steins gate OVA was in my opinion a perfect ending to the series and while the OVA might seem unnecessary to a lot of people, it offered some closure that we the fans wanted to see.
The movie however was a completely unnecessary addition to the franchise and in the end added nothing but some really mild character development in kurisu, this movie felt like it was nothing more than a fan fiction of the show.
Now, don't get me wrong i love me some tsundere Kurisu-tina as much as the next guy and I really enjoyed watching all of these wonderful characters again, however that was not enough for me to call this movie a masterpiece like all of the other users in this site.

This movie does a good job at explaining some of the stuff that was not very clear in the original show and really apreciated that, however it also leaves some others un answered like how did Okabe's reading Steiner was so powerful in the first place?
Also the explanation given for why Okabe disappears seems out of place and a little unbelievable to be honest, which is a shame considering how the original show did such a good job at explaining things.

Kurisu is still a great and loveable character in this movie, as opposed to the main show she is the main character in this film and while i loved Okabe as the main character I was very pleased with this change. Watching kurisu come in terms with her emotions was an interesting experience, that being said I have some major complaints about some of the parts of the movie.(Minor spoilers ahead) In this movie Kurisu experiences some very unpleasant events and I thought those were executed poorly with some really weird pacing and insanely fast transitions in between events which is a shame because those could've been some fantastic scenes if done properly, which brings me to my next complaint about this film: the pacing.

The pacing in the first half of the original show was a huge problem for a lot of people, sadly the movie has quite the opposite effect; it was too short. The movie is about the average movie length (90 min.) and sadly this was not enough to cover everything that happened in this movie, some of the important events happen too fast and that just simply doesn't work for a show with an already stablished with a considerably slow pace.

In the end the Steins;Gate movie while entertaining, feels unnecessary. Think of this as a long bonus episode instead of a continuation to the show; it wasn't bad by any standards in fact it was a pretty fun watch, however it doesn't live to the standards of the original show and it doesn't bring much to the table.
You're not missing much if you don't watch this movie, but if you liked the show then why not? it's more Steins;Gate after all and that's never a bad thing.

Finally found a copy and it didn't disappoint, but at the same time I felt cheated of another season. It was a good movie, but at the same time it felt more like a continuation of the series, as if we were treated to a few more episodes all thrown together. The storyline was good, but to me the pacing could have been spread out into another season allowing for buildup and development of the plot. I understood what was going on and it tied into the previous series almost entirely, but I had to watch it twice to make sure I didn't miss anything. ... If you've just picked up this movie, make sure to S;G series first. The movie itself is a literal tie in with the show and you'll miss the point of the movie. I would liked to have given it a ten overall, but again it felt like we could have gotten more here.

Alright....what to say now? I just don't know. This was one of the most beautiful anime films I have ever seen.

I love short anime like Steins Gate but this time I am truly sad that I finished it. I saw the series some time ago and now finally I was able to watch the movie and all the emotions returned. This film was truly incredible.

Yeah it might seem like a filler, it's a film after all but it really touched my heart. Always wondered how Okarin became the mad scientist? Oh this revelation really got me. Anyway the film is in fact about the ... mess Okabe did with his own memories. Yeah, it's hard to stay in one reality after traveling through thousands of them. This time it's Kuristina's turn to save him.

Don't wanna spoil much but I can guarantee that if you liked the series, you'll love the film. It was very emotional and valuable piece.

As expected, this movie lived up to the anime.

Its been quite sometime since ive watched the anime, and as soon as I heard those characters voices, saw them in action once more, I wondered why I hadn't re watched much much more.

The movie is a good length and not once was I bored or unhappy with the plot. The characters get a nice boost, especially Kurisu, as she is much more true to her feelings, which if your like me and love some romance in the story, you will greatly enjoy.

There comes a time where you truly will wonder what will happen, and ... its made very real which will truly leave you wondering until the end.

If you loved this anime, I see no reason you wont feel the same way about the movie. The story is consistent, always moving, the characters are their fantastic selves and the animation and voice acting is great.

Now, if you haven't already, go and watch. You will wonder why its taken you so long. Its very very good. Dont want to hype it to much.

Steins;Gate: Fuka Ryouiki no Déjà vu will brings all those feelings of awesomeness that was present in the anime. My only comment in this movie is that it is only 90 minutes or, it's only a movie. The point is, it's too short. If only this can be made into 12-episode anime, it would probably be better, but that's purely my opinion. Before watching Steins;Gate: Fuka Ryouiki no Déjà vu, i recommend watching the anime or playing the VN first.

Story: 10/10
The story takes place one year after the anime, around 10 months after the OVA. Makise Kurisu returns to Japan because she has a conference ... or lecture in Japan. While doing so, she returns to the Future Gadget Lab. Nothing abnormal happens in Steins Gate worldline. Shiina Mayuri is alive, no SERN attacks, Kurisu is alive and both her and Okabe Rintarou is in a relationship right now. However, something weird happens to Okabe. All memories that he had from all world lines he traveled are coming back, and it gives him a bad headache. One day, while talking with Kurisu, he suddenly disappears. With no one to remembers, except Kurisu, who only vaguely remembers Okabe, can Kurisu bring Okabe back?

That is basically the summary of the story of what happen in Steins;Gate: Fuka Ryouiki no Déjà vu.Don't worry. I spoiled not even half of the story. The way they start from the OVA is not special, just normal, no tension at all. However, as time goes, the tension rises, and at a faster pace than the anime. This is probably due to the time restriction, 90 minutes. They end it in a way, as a Steins;Gate would expect, unbelievable and awesome and many more. Unlike the anime or the VN or the OVA, this movie does not relies on Okabe as the protagonist. Instead, it uses Kurisu.

While there is not much changes in the art from the anime or OVA, this movie does not differ much from them. It's not pretty, yet it's not bad. I give 10/10 because sometimes anime movie art differs from the original anime.

Sound:10/10
They still uses the original cast. However, unlike the anime, Mamoru Miyano, seiyuu of Okabe, plays much less voice acting in here. Asami Imai, seiyuu of Kurisu, steps into the protagonist here and her voice is much more the main voice. No difference from the anime or OVA. However, there are many scenes that shows the interaction of Okabe and Kurisu, and the seiyuus done the greatest job that only seiyuus can do, to let us imagine that we are living in the movie itself. Their voice interaction is amazing, almost as same as the VN, anime or OVA. But then again, because of time restriction, the numbers of interactions are limited.

The OP is Anata no Eranda Kono Toki o,by Kanako Ito, the one that produced the anime's OP, Hacking to the Gate. Again, she produced a great OP. Incomparable to the anime but not uglier. The ED is Itsumo Kono Basho de, by Ayane. As much as i hate to admit it, this is actually a bit better than the anime's ED. The sound effects used in the movie does not differ from the anime. They uses it in an effective way.

Character:10/10
The characters themselves does not differ much from the original VN, anime, OVA. Only this time, it shows much more sides of all other characters, with more focused on Kurisu and Mayuri, just like how in the anime, it explains the other side of Okabe, who displays the chuunibyou Hououin Kyouma side mostly. It also shows the difference between Okabe as a protagonist, and Kurisu as a protagonist. But to me, personally, the difference is caused because of the condition that happens/ed, not because of the character themselves. It also, to me, shows how important Okabe's life was to Mayuri. In the movie, there was a scene that Mayuri sounded and looked very sad because of Okabe, to the point of crying because of him. Daru himself is shown a bit differently due to the movie.

The supporting casts are still the way they were. Not many major changes in themself, except Amane Suzuha. Suzuha will appear again in the movie and this time, her role to the movie itself is much more important than the VN and the anime, not saying that her role is less important back in the VN or anime.

Enjoyment: 10/10
As one would expect, the enjoyment of playing the VN or watching the anime of Steins;Gate is that you would have a plot twist in the story. This time, the plot twist also exist, and it's amazing how it can be done amazingly with a 90-minute movie.

Overall: 10/10
Overall, it is the anime movie you must watch. However, as i said in the beginning, i recommend you play the VN or watch the anime first. This movie relies heavily on their predecessors and how well you relate to Okabe x Kurisu. Also, just like the anime, this movie will leave you many questions so you might want to use your head a bit. Don't worry, the questions has sense in it's answers.

To preface this, let me say that I liked the main series a lot, but I didn't really understand why everyone loved it so much. It just seemed like a really good anime, but nothing GOAT material.

Now, this movie is not better than the main series. Not by a long shot. It's so much more... anime? If you know what I mean? There are just a lot more anime tropes and stuff that make it feel more like a traditional anime than the original did. There are more macguffins and plot holes, more moe stuff, more happy endings. Also, all the time travel stuff doesn't ... make nearly as much sense as the main series and I don't even think that it could even work in the context of the rules that the main series set up.

However, after saying all this, I still liked this movie more than the main series. I think the main series is done better, but that is different from how much you enjoy something. For example, I know on an objective level that Schindler's list is a really good movie, but after watching it I would probably give it a 5 out of 10.

It is DEFINITELY worth watching this movie if you liked the main series! It expands a lot on the relationship between okabe and kurisu, and especially on kurisu as a character. All the things that I wanted to happen (like kurisu and okabe being together, her realizing he actually traveled through time so he has someone to talk about it with, etc.) happened in this movie! I also really enjoyed kurisu as the main character.

The visuals and music are basically the same as the main series, and it also has a good ending, or at least a happy one. In my opinion, this takes the originality and intrigue of the original series and combines it with the anime traits that we all enjoy, and it does this to great affect.

(Spoiler free review) This movie takes place right after steins;gate and it's almost as good as the show.
The movie answers very important questions that weren't answered in the original show.
It also brings back returning characters such as Okabe , Kruisu , Daru Etc.
The reading steiner is finally explained in great detail and characters are more expressive in the movie over the show and we get a whole new look at the character Kruisu. If I had to say one thing I like about this movie is the pacing of it every scene feels natural and nothing feels out of place. For how much I like ... this movie I still wouldn't say it's better than the show but it almost is. The ending is one of the best endings I've ever seen and wraps up the story nicely with a wholesome conclusion.



(Conclusion statement) Well I know I was kind of all over the place with this review but basically you need to watch this movie if you have seen the original show because it continues the story without ruining the show like most anime movies -_- but seriously I think this ending is alot better than the shows and it gives alot more context for the events that transpire in steins;gate.

Steins;Gate The Movie is a heartfelt send off to the "main timeline" in the original series. It tries its best to put a neat little bow on the series, and mostly, it succeeds. Where it doesn't succeed is when it defies established canon, such as bending and changing time travel mechanics or having characters act a bit heightened for the sake of the scene. The latter is a very small gripe and only happens in the beginning; the best example of this is Kurisu acting a lot more emotional from the get-go. Along the same lines, ... there were a couple of moments where characters just conveniently had certain objects on their person at a time or place where it didn't feel natural for them to have it - nothing too important for plot, usually just something to facilitate a cute moment. There are various scenes like this that are obvious nods to fans, and while I did find them pretty sweet, they did take me out of the story just a bit. Very small complaint for me, but your mileage may vary.

Now, the former might be a larger point of contention for fans: this movie did change up the mechanics from the show quite a bit. It's hard to discuss it without spoiling things, but this movie takes some concepts from the show and bends them to serve this new story. Specifically, the retention of vague memories across world lines (déjà vu) is expanded to accommodate the new main conflict, and other rules are changed or broken to support this as the new focal mechanic. Remember how in the anime, there could only be one active world line? Well, that gets throw out the window. Remember how the S;G world line was meant to be free of time travel? Yeah, well, out the window. Time leap limit? Divergence? Bah, who needs those? Out the window! Basically what I'm saying is that you're gonna have to go into this with the acceptance that it's not canon. Once you get past that though, you are in for a treat, because this is a love letter to Steins;Gate through and through.

The premise alone is quite good: Okabe struggles with derealization and can't seem accept the Steins;Gate world line as reality because of his conflicting memories from other world lines, causing him to disappear from reality. (Yes, I know that makes little sense according to the original mechanics, but trust me, just go with it.) Kurisu, much like Okabe in the original story, must use time travel to make him recognize the current world line as real so that he can exist in it again. That's pretty much all I can say without spoiling the plot. Things progress somewhat similarly to the anime, but with a focus on Kurisu. This allows us a more intimate look into her character than the series had time for, all while being faithful to her characterization there. Sure, I think some of her reactions were a little exaggerated, especially some comedic moments in the beginning, but they do fall in line with how she has acted at different points in the series. It was also just really nice to get some more of Kurisu x Okabe. While I think the series did their relationship justice, it was nice to indulge in something more focused on their romance, complete with callbacks that will make any fan smile from ear to ear. I don't think this would've fit well into the series, so I'm glad to see it here.

And that is more or less where I land with this movie - I don't think a lot of these things would fit organically into the series, but I'll be damned if I didn't enjoy the hell out of them here. The focus on romance, the fan nods, and even the sci-fi concepts--when viewed independently--were extremely enjoyable. If you are able to see this as an independent story from the main series, or can reconcile your headcanon, I think you'll enjoy it immensely. But if you are the kind of person that can't get past the changes, you are safe to skip this entirely. Much like the "Egoistic Poriomania" OVA, this is a non-canon addition for fans who want more, but it doesn't necessarily add much to the series. The series ended in a very satisfying manner, so some might also want to stay away to preserve their sense of finality. That said, I would definitely recommend this movie. It's a very solid movie on its own, but it is also a nice cherry on top if watched after the main series. This gets a solid 9/10 from me, only losing a point due to the breaking of existing rules.

This was indeed a very interesting ride, and even though it wasn´t as emotional wild and perfect ride as the original series then this was an sequel which did a very good job in being original and still very faithful to the original series!
And it needs praising of being a true sequel and not just being a somewhat spinoff, weird fanservice OVA or just summarize of the series itself.
And I must say that I love it for its new angle and being very philosophical especially about ethics and morale.

All the rainbow faeces of the Unicorn - the good things
- Being a true original sequel without ... being dumped down or anything, but being truthfully faithful.
- Kurisu Makise being the main protagonist which really gives us a chance to really get to know her in a different way than before.
- It is a great story with a interesting plotline, it might be a little bit slowpaced but not too much.
- Of course great animation and a different soundtrack but with somewhat the same feel to it.

All the hurtful.... cringe! - The cons
- This plot is good and original but still in some way not that deep which made it quite predictable where the original series was much more surprising.
- yeah that is pretty much it ^^

So yeah for every steins gate fans this is indeed so much recommended, I really don´t need to say that much, it is an great sequel! ^^

If you were to disappear would you be remembered. That's the overarching theme of Steins;Gate: Fuka Ryouiki no Déjà vu. An outstanding anime needs a great story supported my memorable characters that you can relate too. Steins;Gate as a series is known for that.

PLOT-

Steins;Gate: Fuka Ryouiki no Déjà vu is a continuation of the Steins;Gate, the series. As you know from the end of Steins;Gate ... Kurisu Makise had retained some memories of different timelines. So she more than anyone notices when Okabe disappears.

In order to keep the timeline unaltered Okabe needs to be forgotten. The jist of it is he'll be in a world all by himself, but everyone will be ok, and the changes he made will continue on.

Kurisu, who loves Okabe, wants to change the world line and save him, but Okabe goes all serious and tells her not to, and that it's just to painful.

OVERALL-

This continuation, and or movie, lived up to my ridiculously high expectations. Had it not lived up to the original series ..... Never mind.
So anyway Okabe isn't in this very much, and it's more sad then funny, but you get a larger amount of feeling and character connection.
Just like in the original, regardless of the line the characters personality's stayed the same, and that's to be loved, and the overall atmosphere that Steins;Gate had is still very present.
Steins;Gate: Fuka Ryouiki no Déjà vu tied up all the loose ends, and left a much more satisfying ending. Just like the original this one gets a 10/10.

"El Psy Kongroo" has finally returned for one last finale (this is the official end to the series) and boy was it worth the wait. As an absolute lover of Steins;Gate (I'm possibly biased), this was a very fulfilling and emotional conclusion to the series and really did a good job of tying up loose ends and plot holes that still existed. As the original Steins;Gate was a story about the journey, struggles and decisions of Okabe through time, this movie gives Makise (one of my favorite tsunderes) a turn to shine and really emphasizes the feelings and conflicts of love that the current Steins;Gate ... world-line Makise was facing that were only touched upon in the OVA.

The continued development of the romance and the true revealing of feelings between the two time-crossed lovers were a treat, and the creators were able to give a more in-depth explanation of the reading Steiner ability and deja vu effect. I and, more importantly, Makise could also finally understand the pain that the current Okabe was still going through even though he had "saved" everyone which was a critical development in my eyes. I also really liked the difficult struggle between the "scientist" Kurisu and the "woman" Kurisu on the decision of whether to risk saving Okabe against his "wishes". The movie could have maybe touched a bit more on the other characters, but in 90 minutes, the resolution of the story between Makise and Okabe is the most important thing to nail down (and they definitely accomplished that).

It starts a bit slow (as do all Steins;Gate related things) but the emotional pay-off is well worth it in the end. You definitely have to have seen the series and OVA in order to get any of this. I loved the movie and it's a must watch for anyone who has seen Steins;Gate. This is the end that we have all been waiting for so don't delay and watch this immediately. Here's to one final goodbye and "tuturuuuu".

How do you continue something that is so perfectly wrapped up, so beautifully ended? Many anime have tried to make an 'epilouge' to their already perfectly ended series, and botched it. Suffice to say, Steins;Gate: Fuka Ryouiki no Deja vu is not one of these. In fact, it does it far better then any before.

Set some time after the events of the Steins;Gate OVA, we see the culmination of Okabe and Kurisu's relationship, carried on from the end of the series and the OVA, and in conjunction with this, the effects of time leaping finally begin to shown on Okabe.

The story is not as ... epic in regards to time travel as it's parent series, but in all honestly, it's all the better for it; it feels more personal. The storyline between Kurisu and Okabe is deeply moving, and honestly made me feel like crying more then any other anime in recent memory.

The characters are all the same ones you grew to love in the original series; however, quite a few of them take a backseat to Kurisu and Okabe in this film, but it was a necessary concession; the characters seem so unique, so realistic, the chemistry between the two characters is something that is rarely seen in anime, at least on this level.

The art on Steins;Gate was always known to top-tier; the movie takes it to the next level, with truly beautiful art, character designs, and everything else between. I highly recommend watching this in as high a quality as possible; even last thing looks beautiful, I cannot recommend the art enough.

Some truly beautiful music tracks accompany this film, all of them fitting to each specific scene. The ending song is a particularly fitting end to the Steins;Gate saga. In addition this, the voice actors are still at the top of their game. If the voice actors weren't this good, I don't think the characters would honestly be this enthralling.

Steins;Gate: Fuka Ryouiki no Deja vu is the best possible ending to the story of Steins;Gate. With such deep, interesting characters, such beautiful animation and artwork, some of the best voice actors in the business, and a rousing score, this film will serve as one of the best examples of an epilogue in anime in general.
