plays in a fantasy world where magic is the key to survive, great comedy moments and lots and lots of scorcery with interesting storyline to follow, both have a urge to do things of their own and NOT listen to their teammates, but in the end, they show everything they´ve got! and it got me into it

they both are conceived as an a long adventure at the research of something with an epic love story

Even though Orphen is rather light-hearted, while Utena is more on the psychological side, in both you’ll find action, fantasy, magic, blood-free violence despite the swords, and sometimes a weird sense of humor. There are at least two pairs of siblings, and some of the characters are quite similar: the tomboyish girl (Utena/Creao) who befriended the quiet meganekko with a traumatic childhood (Anthy/Lycoris), and the weird mascot who always follows them around (Chuchu/Reki & Pam). Lastly, the dramatic scenes in Orphen (mainly the Lycoris/Esperanza ones) are very similar to the ones in Utena, and these anime even have pretty akin endings. Orphen's second season is more comedy-centered than the first, and it has almost the same wacky, random, absurd feel of Excel Saga. Both have a blonde, energetic girl who carries her dog around. Also, both anime are by JC Staff.
