Saijaku Tamer wa Gomi Hiroi no Tabi wo Hajimemashita.

Born into a loving family, Femicia appears to have a bright future ahead of her. When she finally turns five, the time comes to go to the church to have her skills appraised. However, while she does receive a monster tamer skill, it turns out that Femicia has zero stars for that ability. To make matters worse, society considers those who have zero stars to be harbingers of misfortune; as a result, Femicia is shunned by everyone—including her family.

Soon enough, Femicia is chased out of her village and is constantly on the run. Fearing for her life, she decides to masquerade as a boy and change her name to Ivy. With a goal given to her by a fortune teller to reach the royal capital, Ivy meets and successfully tames a slime, starting an unlikely friendship that may provide a means to get the destiny she deserves.

This anime was super adorable and wholesome. It's just a young girl finding out that she can have friends and parental figures who do love her, despite her zero stars. Not to mention, Sora is adorable. You can't help but cheer for Sora and Ivy as soon as you meet them. I did like the first half of this series more, but the second half was still enjoyable. The isekai aspect of the plot made isn't super expanded on yet, other than Ivy's past life giving her ideas from the current world. The art and character designs were great. Highly recommend!

Mixed Feelings

Lighthearted Isekai, Disappointing Execution

Even when I finished the show, it still didn't feel like a true Isekai. The otherworldly "reborn into another world" plot was introduced at the beginning with a secret the protagonist, Ivy, was told to keep. There was also a mention of a deeper dive into this plot while recalling a bedtime story from her early childhood, but this thread was quickly dropped and only came up briefly with no real impact on the story. Essentially, if it weren't for the initial mention of being from another world, the story would play out the same. I'm guessing this aspect is explored further ... in the manga.

The main character, Ivy, has a tragic backstory. By the age of 5, she was expelled from her village after being branded cursed by the gods due to her 0-star taming skill. Hunted and wanted dead by the town leader, we later discover this leader was responsible for killing her friend and "teacher" and pinning the blame on Ivy.

I really enjoyed Ivy's story and following her growth throughout the series, from her unique design to how she deals with challenges.

However, the plot had some issues. Despite interesting characters, the focus seemed to be more on the journey to the capital than on character development. There was also a child trafficking ring crime mystery twist introduced in the town near the capital, which felt like a detour and dragged on for too long.

Another interesting mechanic was Sora, the slime, who could heal injuries by consuming potions and gain stats from them. This ability started out promising but wasn't explored further. Notably, the healing ability was overshadowed by Sora's "truth ability," which allowed it to detect if someone was good or bad. This plot point, used to identify watchmen involved in the trafficking ring, felt repetitive.

The story ends on a positive note with the town saved and Ivy and Sora continuing their journey. They've gained acceptance for who they are, and Ivy has found new friendships. However, the series concludes with a reminder of the cat monster she tamed at the beginning, a character who remained completely useless and only appeared sporadically. This reinforces the feeling of a story with interesting elements that weren't fully developed, creating a sense of wasted potential. Finally, if you watch the dub, be warned: the cat's voice acting is particularly grating.

I almost dropped it after the first episode and maybe I should have!!! I really despise these characters that feel sorry for themselves. Yes life is hard, yes life's not fair sometimes, but deal with it and move along!!! The "nobody loves me and I'm useless" line gets old real fast! Main character is NOT likeable at all, I did love SORA which basically disappears halfway in. The story overall is all over the place, like the creator had tons of ideas but didn't develop any in particular. It feels disjointed and poorly written. Also what is with the bags???...she has a magic one that can carry everything ... "item box" like.....so what is the purpose of the rest?!?!! I read some of the reviews describing good animation, but I felt the characters' movements other than the main one are stiff and amateurish. I'm not really sure what the purpose of this anime was by the time it ended. It wasn't really an  adventure and it wasn't really something with any purpose. Hope you find it more interesting than I did.
