What I generally look for in an anime, story-wise:
- Strong or likeable characters
- Good life lessons
As I am quite the technical viewer, my ratings can seem absurd at times.
For example, even though the story may be so-so or crap,
I'll give higher ratings if the show is uncommonly good in:
- Accurate portrayal of working/politics/engineering/science/history.
- Realistic lighting techniques (caustics, Fresnel effect, bump mapping).
- Well choreographed, fluid fights.

I wouldn't have had a special move at all. Just had Hinata learn new routes like gaps and slides. Then maybe had their team run ACTUAL combinations (all of them hitting at the same time is something every volleyball team does), where hitters hit in odd spots. Here's an example of a real combination play called an X: https://youtu.be/VdL8AuAUjyU . Notice how the opposite (right side) comes and loops around the middle to hit a 2 ball. If Haikyuu! had incorporated some of those, that would've been dope.
Rem will still be a huge part of the story even when in coma. Subaru's goal will be to bring her back since he loves her.
Yes, I understand what you're trying to do but an extreme score like 1/10 won't get much attention and people won't take it serious.
It lets people think that you're one person who is just hating on the show because it's popular. So is my impression of most of the 1/10 reviews at least.
I hope that people will write good and reasonable reviews after the show is finished and not 1/10 or 10/10 reviews with only reasons like "I hate it" or" I love it".
The thing with Rem is really a shocker (she's also my fav character) but as long she will be brough back I think it's fine.
The end of arc 3 also shows the progression in the relationship between Subaru und Rem and Subaru's development as a character.
Subaru kills himself immediatly after seein Rem in coma. He wouldn't have done something like that before even if she was dead. But in this case he stabs a knife in his throat the moment he sees her "just" in a coma. That makes him a lot more likeable for me at least.
He used all the information he got in the previous loops to his advantage in a smart way.
He learned how to nagotiate with the royal candidates and offered them valuable information instead of begging for help.
This looks like a first step in a reasonable character development.
Yes you're right. His complete development will take quite some time since the story is very long and we're only 10-15%(anime) into the story.
Also, I'm not sure how much anime shows you've seen but a 1/10 is a really unfair score. Even if you don't relate to the MC you can clearly see how much effort the studio white fox and the voice actors are putting in this show.
The thing is that he's died several times for Emilia and he's afraid of losing her.
Emilia doesn't know that and therefor she doesn't understand how he feels. Subaru can't explain it to her since he's not allowed to talk about his powers and that frustrates him. They're both right in this case.
This part is for me atleast completely understandable.
His self-proclaimed knight status was a silly statement from him, I give you that. However, he's not the smartest and being jealous of the knight's is kinda understandable. The stuff he said was stupid, yes but people act like that then they have nothing to say. They start to say stupid shit. You should know that just by looking at people's behavior on the internet.
Don't you think that his unlikeable side is a great foundation for his development in the future?
Seeing characters who are perfect from the start is boring, for me atleast.
But I don't get it. If you're that smart then you should know how realistic people act in specific scenarios. You should understand Subaru's point of view and why he acts the way he does even if he's not as smart.
And one other thing : you should recognise all the plotholes, illogical exposition scenes and inconsistent personalities the shows I mentioned before have.
You'll eventually realise that OP maincharacters like Kirito, Onii-sama, Ayato who can do everything perfect and without problems are common, unrealistic, illogical.
