I actually agree with what you said about SAO. I watched the first episode and thought it had an amazing concept, so I had high expectations. It also seemed like a show that I would want to marathon so I put in on-hold. Since then I've heard mostly disappointing things about it, so my expectations have dropped a lot.

I do this with a lot of shows. O_O

On the ratings scale:

My starting point is usually about 7, unless a show starts off really terribly. The score moves up or down depending.

For me a 10 is completely amazing, and re-watchable. Great art, great story, great music and characters. And has something original about it.

I have no excuse for why Kamisama has a 7, I had given it a 4 and then the last episode entertained me. That goodwill has since faded and now I'm confused. It happens.

Code:Breaker I like, it has it's obvious issues - the character designs are clearly inspired off other manga/anime (even Sakura's parents), the plot makes no sense and has a lot of holes. But it makes up for these failings by being nice to look at and hilarious. Sakura can be annoying, but she's easy to ignore because she's young and idealistic. Even Ogami being some eye-liner away from being full-on emo is entertaining to me. The characters seem clearly designed to be idiots, which makes it impossible to take seriously.

Sukitte Inayo - The manga deals with some real issues and I give that a higher rating than the anime, which I keep putting lower and will probably end up a 2 if the continue spiralling.

I started watching Fate/ Zero cause it came so highly recommended, but the main character was an idiot and pissed me off, he was also terribly weak. The harem/ fanservice vibe annoyed me to. I liked Saber and Archer, they're the characters I remember and wish that it had just been about the fighting, since it reminded me of Soul Calibur (game)- which I really like. But it bored me which is the worst thing a show can do. I've since wondered if I should attempt a re-watch as it's been years and the new series seems to be doing well and I've become more tolerant to both harem and fanservice cliches. But even if the MC has gotten stronger it just seems more of the same. What is your opinion?

Baka to Test was fun for me. The most annoying character was the pink-haired girl, but she made up for it by being a bit of a psycho-stalker. It had some really good comedy and nice magical elements. Even though it was using the typical high school setting, with the typical character tropes, it did so in a way that was still fun and refreshing.

I'm curious as to what you didn't like about Slam Dunk?
