Spoiler
This anime had great action, and the music was awesome, But it was deeply flawed in its story, filled with antisemitic dogwhistles.

The plot is that Eldians - stand ins for Jews - live in ghettos and are regularly abused by the Marlians because their ancestors had enslaved them. So basically, the Eldians (Jews) brought the discrimination on themselves through their actions.

Except that there is a secret family of Eldians (Jews) that is actually controlling the Marlian empire. But they don't do anything to stop Marley from attacking a free population of Eldians, because they feel that Marley has a right to ...

Deatte 5-byou de Battle is a 'survival game' anime, a lot like Darwin game. It is a pretty straightforward shonen show, with a protagonist who has the super power of talking his enemies to death (to get his ability to work, he had to have a conversation with his enemies first)

Yet despite that, it was fun to watch. The side characters are well written and not just cardboard cutouts. they had their own flaws and motivations.

And the protagonist's solutions (mostly) made sense (though why his enemies gave him time to implement them makes no sense).

If you are looking for a light action show with good ...

Preliminary (45/? chp)
This manga is slow moving - there is action, but don't expect it to carry the plot. The writer uses this manga to critique society, and some of those are on point.

The basic premise is that the MC gets dumped into a fantasy world periodically, to complete quests. Each time, his party gets another companion. I say 'his party', but the MC only joins on the third quest.

over time, the characters get more and more powerful, but slowly. The quests are typically NOT solved by fighting, but by dealing with the underlying social issues that caused the problem in the first place.

This manga is fun ...

Deca-Dence (Anime) add
Spoiler
Yes, this review contains spoilers (DUH)

When watching "Sword Art Online: Alicization - War of Underworld", and Asuna waxes poetic over how great it is that her friends were willing to risk losing their avatars (which represent hours of work) to save the lives of AIs (basically, a newly minted sapient life form), and she effectively equates several hours of work with a human life, did you also feel like reaching through the monitor screen and punching her in the head?

If yes, this anime is for you.

Deca-dence is a reverse Isekai - it is the story of a post apocalyptic world, where the majority of surviving ...

Oy. Another Fantasy with an over-powered male protagonist and a Loli love interest (+ maybe a harem? There's always a harem in these things)

except, it doesn't suck.

The art on this manga is decent (it's a manga - you have to work really hard to f up the art), but what really surprised me was the character motivations. Ie they HAVE some.

(some mild spoilers)
The reason that Kufa is sent to verify that Angel has magical powers (and kill her if she doesn't) is because the the only way that she could have no magic is if her mother (a non-magical commoner that married up into the ...

Please note that I will mention spoilers in this review.

This story starts with three thieves entering int competition to see who can steal the most precious thing from the city, And the first season plays out as a fairly typical Shonen, as our protagonist gets involved in trying to solve the crime and get revenge for his father.

But season two is a complete mess, with new sub plots being added every episode, characters doing things for poorly explained reasons and NOTHING getting resolved.

But surprisingly, the show's not all bad. The two main characters are very well written, The male protagonist doesn't follow the typical ...

SSSS.Gridman (Anime) add
What to say about this show?

The plot is pretty good, if straightforward - Our amnesiac protagonist Yuuta Hibiki fights a monster of the week. The whole story is one huge homage to the tokusatsu and anime of the '70 and '80s From Ultraman to Gamera to the early Giant robot anime. It even used the over-saturated colors of the glossy anime magazines. Except the world makes no sense, and Yuuta is the only one who realizes it, until he clues in his friends. The story quickly moves from simple fights against Kaiju into the mystery of their reality.

But that's not what this anime is about ...

Sirius (Anime) add
This Anime is set in 1930's Japan and Russian Siberia. It does a good job of portraying the setting. It blends in the vampire and the werewolf elements nicely, creating a believable alternative history.

The place were this show really shines is the characters. Especially Ryouko, who is portrayed as a strong young woman, but still believable.

But the second half of the show freezes all the character development except for Mikhail, and then by the last two episodes, the show completely jumps the shark, going into a mystical feel-good mumbo-jumbo land.

So overall, I would recommend it, but don't expect too much from the last few ...

Beatless (Anime) add
Preliminary (16/20 eps)
The story that Beatless is trying to tell is AWESOME. Unfortunately, they keep stumbling over their feet, staggering from episode to episode.

What they are TRYING to do is explore in a serious fashion the role of AI in our society: Will AI fully integrate and dwell along side us us? Will it be malevolent and try to replace people? Or will people feel threatened and put limits on the AI?

The action takes place in a world where human looking androids are common, but almost all are linked to central AI that assists them in dealing with the incredibly complex creatures known as humans (So they ...

First of all, this is a Seinan Anime.

It's not about a kid training to be better at using a fighting robot, or about the MC secretly being more powerful than everybody else. It's about being responsible.

Kyouhei Kuga is a Tokyo college student who comes from a little village up in the mountains where the dominant families have magical robots. In the past, he had control of one as well, but he has given it up.

The story starts from a conflict between Kyouhei and his step brother brother Aki, a tough who was in prison for murder, and then spirals out as various people come from ...
