Classroom of the Elite is just as interesting as it is not.
None of the characters stand out, with exception of the MC. Boring dialogue, repeating what the viewer has already seen and heard at a redundant attempt to make sure the viewer isn't missing anything. All this accomplishes is making unrealistic, unrelatable characters that speak super unnaturally, taking away from the story. Maybe some people enjoy watching know-it-alls overexplain everything going on, but I find it nothing more than a pain and weak writing.

particularly useless to the rest of the characters in the story. Even his closest allies are unaware of his true motivations, and not one person is capable of detecting his next move. While Ayanokouji isn't a perfect character either, he at least makes the anime have purpose. I am particularly interested in how he uses the rest of the characters to perform his will. Everyone to him is a pawn. This isn't some innovative, new character type, but the way the writers have put him together is a little more interesting than it has been in other characters like him. Even the viewer isn't aware of his true abilities or motivations, which does bring a bit of the element of surprise to the story and make it interesting enough to continue watching.
Horikita is annoying, her whole tsundere vibe is overexaggerated and bland. Nothing about her is a redeemable quality. Her only use is being a cover for Ayanokouji's plans. She's a good front, as she stands out as a leader, but that's about it. Kushida is also annoying, but the entire point to her character is that she meddles with the leaders of Class D and gets in the way, and the writers do a decent job of making her out that way, with her playing this character of being empathetic and energetic. At least there's some sort of development going on with Kushida, whereas Horikita has remained the same boring character throughout the two seasons. The other characters, aside from Karuizawa, make no real moves that affect the viewer either.
The music isn't really any good, it just is what it is. While not terrible and still matching the pacing and feel of the story, there could be a much better score.
The standard, boring characters that have to act all big brain, stupid opening titles with quotes from some big brains, and...just everything to do with this anime, make it obvious what the writers are trying to do. They're trying to make another big brain anime, and it's not working. While I find this anime entertaining, I cannot look passed its juvenile writing, lack of character development, and overdone pacing. If it weren't for Ayanokouji, I would not be watching this.
That being said, I do still recommend giving it a watch, at least an attempt. It has a decent enough story, so it's worth it. I just think it's so lame seeing what the writers are trying to make the story out to be while putting no effort into the other characters.

People really think this is a 10/10?
The story is trivial, there's not much to say about it. The first couple of episodes is nothing but carnage. We do get to see the main characters becoming likeable, but it doesn't last very long in the arc as the most likeable character's turn to evil is the entire point of the anime.
The characters aren't all that likeable, the story isn't incredible by any means. This anime is just average. Well overrated.

much to say about her, maybe that she seemed very caring but got her head chopped off five minutes after we see any likeable qualities out of her.
The main villain is annoying, too, but not even annoying enough for you to focus on him. He never does anything exciting. He kind of just watches from a distance and causes pain for the main characters. Taking control over them with a stone, causing them to fight amongst each other, and avoiding an altercation with the one person powerful enough to fight him? Snoooooore.
Is this anime worth watching? Yeah, sure. I definitely was entertained enough to sit through all of it, but it's absolutely nothing to write home about. The entire point of me writing this review was just to express my befuddlement at the fact that it's so positively rated and all of the reviews are between a 7 and 10 rating. This anime really is nothing special. I came to watch from seeing a gif of the two MC's kissing, and that ended up being the most exciting part of the show. Even yuri couldn't save this anime from being boring.
So what's the takeaway from this review? 6/10, not enough yuri.

Wow, that was really bad.
I've heard people say it was an "amazing concept" but done horribly. I sort of get what they mean, because you're throwing a childhood friend whose close to the heart versus the dude's first love. While it is kind of cool to see some kind of change to the brain-battering harem genre, but this is not the way to do it. If you want to watch a good harem, watch the Quintessential Quintuplets.

It was hard to finish this anime, but I did it out of principle, and man did it suck. This is actually the lowest I've rated an anime (besides Ex-Arm lol).
Also, the post-credits scene in the final episode nearly gave me an aneurysm. How could you possibly make such a bad anime even worse? Where are they even going with this? Oh wait, I have a feeling I know exactly where they're going with it, because it's that damn predictable. "Let's throw the entire story out of the window and confuse the audience so they sit down for another season! More money!" No way. This garbage is not worth any more of my time.
The fact that this got about a 6.20 average rating sets a low bar for the "Fine" rating on anime. I have enjoyed a lot of anime that have had a 6.0+ rating, this is not one of them.
If you're a fan of watching failed anime, this one's for you. Otherwise, I would recommend not wasting your time here. Though, maybe you'll love it. In fact, I hope you do. Everybody has a different perspective.

I'm not a manga reader, but my understanding of the differences between Horimiya and Hori-san to Miyamura-kun is that they are from two different source material. Hori-san to Miyamura-kun is based off the web comic of the same name, and Horimiya is based off the manga that started just before the end of the run of said web comic. Described as I've read from some readers, Hori-san to Miyamura-kun seems to be more humor-focused and Horimiya focuses more heavily on the relationships.
Now, which do I think did it better? Honestly, my vote is Hori-san to Miyamura-kun. The pacing of Horimiya just doesn't feel right. Horimiya

skips a lot of (not super important, but story-changing) details and scenes and changes the story and dialogue in quite a few ways that makes me prefer Hori-san to Miyamura-kun. Also, Hori-san to Miyamura-kun puts the audience's eyes on the main relationship the most, while still including other relationships. I felt like Horimiya spent too much time segment-hopping to try to fit in development between other characters and in turn did not give Hori and Miyamura enough screen time.
I still think that Horimiya is the best new anime of the season, if not Wonder Egg, but that's simply because the other two anime I've considered don't have too much more to offer either, and Ex-Arm is, well, Ex-Arm. That, and the animation was pretty good here.
I think the rating is juiced and this anime doesn't deserve it, it's not even close to being one of the best anime, and I'm glad it didn't last any longer than 13 episodes. It would be best if they release a few OVA-one being the group trip talked about in episode 13-that capture some experiences between Hori and Miyamura from the manga, as well as Yuki and Tooru because, come on, that'd be cute. I don't see this anime getting a second season (they already graduated, what more would they even add), nor do I really want it.
Definitely worth the watch, but even a 7/10 is a pretty generous score.

I found the short film very interesting, and as somebody else put it in the "Episode 1 Discussion" forum thread for this anime, the story is very similar to that of an episode you would find in the original 1959 American TV series "The Twilight Zone".
The story was pretty good, but I could only really label it as good. It's pretty simple, something that doesn't take the greatest writer to think of, but still plenty good.

I missed the actual experience and do not wish to rate the version of the work I saw, but rather the version that the creators spent so much time on. Though, from what I could make of it, the art style looked good for the early 90's and the music and quality of voice acting were good too.
I did enjoy this anime, and being that it only took thirty minutes of my time, I felt that it was time well spent. I recommend this short film to anybody interested in older anime and obscure media, if you could even call this that.

As much as I realize that the overall score for this installment of OreGairu is very generous, more so than my personal rating, I believe that the top reviews are too negative. After seeing those reviews, I was ready for a really bad season with a terrible ending, but I didn't get that. I enjoyed this season. The problem(s) a majority of people have with this season is(are) really no different from other slice of life anime.
Let me start by saying that there is no doubt in my mind that this season, and the anime as a whole, is great. It's a silly slice of

life anime in a high school setting with brain-battering writing that is at times really annoying or really confusing. I quickly lost count of the number of times that the dialogue just didn't make sense to me, in every season, though it wasn't too bad. I still had a lot of fun with this story.
I accidentally watched the second season first, then the first, then the first and second OVA, then this season. I believe that if I had watched the first season before the rest, I still would have watched the series all the way through, but I do think it's fair to point out that, after watching the second season, the first season felt really stupid. It did clear up a lot of confusing things about the second season that I, obviously, would have already understood had I watched in the proper order.
I'm not a big fan of the first season, and I especially don't favor the first OVA, but the rest of the series never really disappointed me. The second and third season were the best of all, and the second OVA (between season two and three) was pretty entertaining, though simple. I felt like the first season didn't breathe the same air as the second season and didn't feel as fun, and the Hikki-hate felt too brutal having already seen how much season two had. The first OVA (between season one and two) just kinda sucked, I'll be honest. You're free to find my review for that OVA if you visit my profile.
The story is very good. It was always fun, though a lot of the time confusing and not telling the viewer exactly what's going on at first. I felt like the characters knew something I didn't whenever there was major conflict between them, because they all don't convey their feelings to each other and by extension don't convey them to the viewer. You learn sort of exactly what their feelings are at the very end, but there's still questions left unanswered. Though, I feel like questions being left unanswered and a lack of actual screen time for real romance is something I've run into with the majority of slice of life anime I've watched. On top of that, the title is My Teen Romantic Comedy Is Wrong, As I Expected. So expect a lack of romance, though the show is packed with comedy, which was sometimes really good and sometimes really great.
The art is pretty basic, especially for something coming out in 2020. I wasn't here for the art, though, and I have a feeling a lot of people who intend to watch aren't either. Better art definitely could've improved the show, but I don't think it would have changed my overall score.
The sound is, much like the art, very basic. Nothing special. The music does go with the show pretty well, but I promise you it will not be what's on your mind when you recall this anime.
I had to drop the characters down to good. Hachiman and Yukino are super anti-social and speak in terrible mannerisms, but Yui is just fucking awesome. I loved Yui the whole time, and even considered adding her to my favorite characters list, but then decided against it once I realized it might just be because she's a ray of sunlight that stands out against the two gloomy characters that Hachiman and Yukino are. I always loved Yui, though, she was really sweet and super selfless, though beating herself down and calling herself selfish and considering herself inconsiderate a lot. The other characters were really great additions to this anime, as well. Each one helped the story develop and definitely balanced out Yukino and Hachiman's shortcomings.
The enjoyment was very good. I did very much enjoy myself the entire time I watched, and I think you will too.
If you don't want any spoilers, please don't read below, as it's my personal summary of this show, or at least what I understood of it.
This is just a really a critical way to put it, in the end, this show was a love triangle between the three main characters and all the passive-aggressive and confusing and annoying interactions between them all that just ended up leading to Hachiman and Yukino becoming closer than friends, but not really dating. It was sad to watch as Yui had also kind of fallen in love with Hachiman, much earlier than Yukino in fact, just for her to have to come to terms with herself losing. It's okay though, because they're all still really close and she's still their best friend in the end, but it still sucked. Yui definitely deserved to get her love back more than Yukino did, as Yukino was simply cold throughout the entire show, whereas Yui was a really sweet, kindhearted girl who had the best interest of her friends the entire time. I can't say it was unexpected, though. Yukino and Hachiman were both really cold characters with very weak social skills and full of themselves, and it's almost like they were meant for each other. I still would have loved to see Yui get the man, but it's not like she didn't get what she wanted. The whole time, she wanted for the three to "be together forever," as fucking gross as that is.

This OVA wasn't necessarily a waste of time, it just didn't live up to expectations when compared to season one or two, which I watched both of prior. There isn't much going for it story wise, and when it ended, I found myself saying "that's all?"
There's hardly any build up of anything, and there certainly feels to be no resolution. The fact that this fairly mediocre OVA was (as far as I am aware) supposed to be a teaser for the second season, which was the complete opposite of boring, was a little weird to me. Being someone who despised anime and everything about it growing up, I'm very picky about my anime. If it's all boobs bouncing up and down with no story, I'm not going to enjoy it. If it's boring and repetitive, I am not going to watch it beyond the first season. If there is no story, I am not going to put it on my favorites list. This anime is none of those.
First of all, let me say, I find it weird how many people comment on how choppy the animation is. Yes, it's absolutely choppy and cheesy. We're talking about high speed racing and drifting

both drawn and computer generated from the late 90's. Popular mid to late 90's anime always looks great with choppy animation to make up for the lack of ability to animate enough frames per second as popular anime of today. That's just a fact we'll have to accept. Plus the animation gives off a retro vibe and makes it unique from all this unoriginal anime of today.
I always have been, though I lean towards trucks, a car guy. Started out liking American classics, began to eyeball American sports, had a bit of sub-average admiration for European super cars, never was a fan of the Bugatti, always have been and will be a fan of American muscle, in fact, the Hellcat will top my list for a long time, but the Japanese drifting scene is something you cannot overlook. (Update: Since writing this review, Japanese classics have become some of my most favorite cars, but the Hellcat is still my favorite car of all time.)
I'd already had a minor fascination for retro Japanese in-line sixes and understated four banger technology. And, I mean, everybody loves a Skyline, right? But this anime fueled that fascination much further. Being the birthplace of the fame for the 86, it was no surprise how much this show favors it, but it still gave a good look on other vehicles. Watching this show, I learned the terms FR and FF (FR gang) and what a hairpin turn is, and other terms, which was cool. But don't expect to learn anything about actual driving.
You won't learn how to drift from watching this, as everything the characters say is superficial crap, but that far from ruins the immersion and excitement. The fact that everything going on in the show is larger than life and beyond stretched truth without reaching levels of science fiction makes it far more entertaining. Every race is, of course, repetitive, because the show mostly centers around one single stage/track, but always introduces a challenge for our main character and keeps you on the edge of your seat. They also do an amazing job of keeping the races on screen for awhile, but not making it drawn out and boring. The writers must know exactly how to keep someone paying attention, because the transitions between episodes are perfect and will keep you pressing the "next episode" button.
So, to kind of summarize what I've said, short and sweet, the show is pretty great. It's very entertaining and will help you understand the fascination of Japanese sports cars and turn your attention to the drift scene of Japan's past. The races are a bit repetitive but not excessive, even though you pretty much always have no doubt that Takumi will win every single race despite how much the challenger throws at him.
This was an great anime, and now I'm going to sink my life into watching every season and special I can find.

I'm loving this anime.
First, let me say that I've always been the type to not really enjoy the extravagant anime intros because of how cheesy and the fact that they sometimes tend to indirectly spoil parts of the show, so seeing how great yet subtle this show's intro is, I got excited.
I'm also someone who hates the anime stereotypes. If the anime is incredibly stereotypical, it's going to be hard for me to focus on the show without a grip of disgust or irritation. It's a little harder to find these stereotypes in this show, which I'm happy to report.
Now, what you care about:
The story

is pretty great at the start of the show. They introduce the show and its main characters pretty well, and the progression of the story isn't extremely slow or too fast; it's pretty easy to grasp onto what's going on and apply it to what you already knew about the story.
The art is pretty much what you'd expect of an anime in 2019, but I gave it a score of 9 because they put a tiny bit more detail into objects that other artists typically don't in the animes I've seen, (i.e. cars.)
The music in the show is recycled, but done very well in my opinion. I find that these songs are very great for both people of Japan and the U.S, because they're sort of a mix of what you would hear from both countries (Though I'm severely uneducated, so take that with a grain of salt.) Some of these songs I could easily see being used as samples for rap songs when they're released for consumers in the future. Great job Yutaka Yamada, you never cease to impress.
The character development is very well done, especially in the main character.
Overall, this anime is pretty great and I definitely recommend it. You will enjoy yourself.
