I know. I replied to him on Twitter but he didn't reply. What's up?

Hearing all those things about Seed makes me wonder what side of the fence I would fall on rating-wise. Guess I'll give that one a shot after I finish Wing, though I'll probably tackle a few different things before that. My watching mood can be very sporadic at times :P Still, thanks for all the Gundam info. For whatever reason, I never really thought about it much before, but I'm very much interested now thanks to you :3

Regardless, drawing all those different parts from all angles with added shine and shadow on every frame has got to be a huge pain in the ass. I really admire the whole crew behind those series, they work hard. Granted the same can be said for any anime crew, but you know what I mean.

I'm definitely getting more curious about Gundam as a whole story after hearing you talk about this stuff. While I want to go down the canon route, other ones seem to catch my eye. Now the one I feel like checking out next is Gundam Seed, which I guess is another spin-off. Did you like that one? Either way, I'll have them all under my belt eventually :P

Okay I'm glad I didn't miss something there, especially given how evident it was that it was forced. I was half-expecting a scenario where she actually knew about Heero through her father or something like that, but didn't reveal it until the end for a twist. I think the multiple political factions aspect is interesting in various ways. Like you said, you have the opportunity to view all sides and see where everyone's values lie. Ultimately, it comes down to who the better fighters are and whose convictions are strongest, which makes for a good watch more often than not. Wing feels like it won't be the strongest entry, but it's still good, and I'm sure there's various other ones that nail it.

I wonder if maybe they do the initial scenes in crude CG, then draw over that and add effects? It would make sense, but I could also see those designers might just sketch out all the parts as well (for use in model sheets too). I don't think you could pull something like that off unless you had professional designers backing you. That's quite the nickname Tomino's landed for himself, guess I'll have to see for myself just what his stories are like. From some things I read, it seems like he might have softened up his writing style a bit after a decent amount of Gundam series? You'd know more than I would.

Wing has been good so far. I had no idea what to expect, but warring military factions with a third party caught in the middle certainly makes for an interesting time. The only thing I might say is that the main female lead has zero motivation to feel romantic towards Heero. He tries to kill her twice, but for whatever reason, she's into him? Just seems a bit silly, but that aside, I do like her well enough. I think I'll probably enjoy the rest of it at this rate, but I'll hold my complete thoughts until the end.

I see, that's a pretty underhanded system, especially given a lot of otaku will be diehard collectors and spend until they get what they want. Thankfully those games are at least decent enough to make things fair. Hopefully most people would be able to see how those systems operate and avoid them, but if they're like the US, microtransactions will affect them just as badly...

I mean it's basically the same thing more or less :P I think that's a good approach to it. It can be fun to watch a long-running franchise evolve as the art and animation get better with the times. I still don't know how they manage to animate all these complicated mech parts and still have it looking so good and consistent. Does Tomino like twists in his stories, or does he do like DRRR and jump around the narrative a lot? I'm guessing by worst characters, you mean getting the common figures from the gacha system over and over?

I liked Ann a decent amount until I watched her relationship arc, where she's portrayed as much more of an airhead than the main story makes her out to be. I do still like her, but not nearly as much as Ryuji. You're sure knowledgeable about Gundam, interesting that they split into different directions like that. Guess I should stick to those categories once I do get into it more, Wing excluded as an entry point. I guess that makes sense, I almost never play mobile games, so it's something I'm not quite used to. As far as payment goes, I'm those companies worst enemy. They always push for buying items or exp to make you stronger faster or so you can clear the game quicker, but as a regular with JRPGs, I embrace the grind lol
axel333 Aug 25, 2017 4:34 AM
I actually really like Ryuji, I just couldn't help but notice his antics, so I took it to an extreme :P I think Ann was the character I liked the least truthfully. That's surprising, I figured most of the Gundam entries were all separate from one another, but then again I don't know much about it. I guess Wing is as good a place to start as any then. That's fine, I never drop anything and give a series its full run time before reviewing it. I'll give it a fair watch, and I'll definitely tell you what I think of it after I get to it :) I actually downloaded the game the other day to my iPod and tried it out. Seems pretty standard fare for a rhythm game, but I'll probably like it, though all the menu options and branching activities has me a bit overwhelmed atm lol
axel333 Aug 22, 2017 5:15 PM
I'm surprised that a modern series like that managed to pass through with really bad writing. You'd think someone would have told them, but I'm sure the watchers and critics did that for them :P I'd still like to give it a shot though, if for nothing more than to have as a discussion point and to say I've seen it.

Sorry to hear things have been a bit rough, keep hanging in there :) Oh cool, I'm glad you enjoyed that one! It was the main thing I kept thinking about while playing the game, so I just decided to make a joke about it, and seems a lot of people agree haha. Seems you're quite the Gundam veteran (and currently the only person I know that's actually seen any of them in general). I'd always intended to check them out, but I kept forgetting or getting distracted by other stuff. Recently, a site I buy from a lot just announced a limited edition box set of Gundam Wing coming out in a few months, and I thought about watching it to see if I should buy it :P
axel333 Aug 19, 2017 4:59 AM
That's fine, but it isn't guaranteed that she'll actually catch the message :P Did you watch it then? A horror parody could be fun if done the right way, or a good wrong way.

You're good, the box is still sitting here next to me on my desk, so it's hangin' in there. I don't mind though, I'll leave it to you whenever things come together on your end :) I've been good though, somewhat of a work-a-holic now. I head to my overnight job, then come home and work on art, so my sleep schedule is pretty odd. My animation is starting to get a bit of traction online though, so that's pretty cool. Hoping to make that my full-time job in the near future, but still gotta keep grinding. What've you been up to?

I gave up on Aesthetica, the fanservice was way too few and far between for a Testament rehash plot and the colours were washed out and the animation was poor - it basically wasn't very fun to watch, a poor man's Testament. owo
Spinnerweb Oct 28, 2016 9:12 AM
I downloaded To LoveRu toonafter watching the popsicle scene XD gotta watch it
Spinnerweb Oct 28, 2016 7:15 AM
I'm still watching Aesthetica and KissxSis is on my hard drive but unwatched as of yet - I started it in 2015 but stopped because the sisters' too-young appearance grossed me out aye - I'll give it another try.

Gimme recs den m8 ;3
Spinnerweb Oct 28, 2016 5:27 AM
I have to tell you, even I was grossed out when he made those girls group-pee.

Love the other fanservice tho.
