I like robots. But don't be that guy who thinks I only like robots. Everyone always sounds so surprised to hear I like something without robots, but according to my list the longest series I've ever watched is Cardcaptor Sakura. I even drink my morning tea out of a kero-chan mug.

I also liked that stabby-stab show about the nice boat. Air made me cry. And then it made me hate myself for crying at a cartoon. I want to chew off my fingers when I watch a show like Bleach. Can't you just fight? Save the smack-talk for the basketball court, champs. I like Kamen No Maid Guy because it's not afraid to be obsessed with breasts in an age when Lolicon has infiltrated every corner of our animated entertainment.

Yoshiki Fukuyama (vocals for Fire Bomber) is now in JAM Project (along with other cool people like Hironbu Kageyama [CHA-LA! HEAD CHA-LA!], Masumi Okui (Rinbu -revolution-) and other people. Surely you like them? And for Fire Bomber--Planet Dance is not one of their best. Give Holy Lonely Light (duet ver.) or Try Again or Heart & Soul or Angel Song or some of the other songs on the soundtracks. If you hate all four of those, I will be honestly surprised. OGT | 08-06-08, 4:10 AM I started watching it about a month ago; it's quite good, but I'm not entirely sure it feels like a Macross, but as I generally say, there's nothing binding the Macross series together except the name, and anyway Kawamori shoehorned Plus into the Macross universe when he couldn't sell his OVA idea about fighter pilots to producers. I've only seen half of it, though, but I do want to say that Sharon Apple has the best non-Fire Bomber music in Macross ever. I can't find the soundtracks anywhere though :( Reply - Anime - Manga

OGT | 06-23-08, 8:13 AM Oh, no, I knew that you were quite enjoying it--"hate" was in quotes for a reason. I have seen people state that S1 was awesome and great and R2 is just terrible and bad. And they are making it up as they go along--every original Sunrise series is done this way, I'm convinced. It works sometimes (SEED, Mai-HiME, Code Geass), it fails miserably others (Destiny), and most of the time it just is. I was just pointing out that Code Geass R2 is every bit as ludicrous as the first season (because of aforementioned people who think that S1 is godly and R2 is crap), except that in the case of R2 they ratcheted everything up to 11 (and, yes, I am intending the Spinal Tap reference here). Most of my posts on R2 are analysis of real-world themes reflected in the series, partly because they're there (Goro always likes giving all sorts of fans a few bones, including those who love to over-analyze things) and partly because it's absolutely hilarious to do this (I loved the post I did on the first episode, because I took what was obviously intended to be "Look! Kallen in a bunny suit! Sexy!" and turned it into sociopolitical commentary, because I could). So, yeah. This is why Taniguchi Goro is awesome. Reply - Anime - Manga

I read the "Biggest Train-Wreck of the Season" bit, and then the Derailed by Darry post on same topic matter, and, while I don't really disagree with any of the points brought up, I don't really think the first and second seasons are all that different. R2 might possibly be over-compensating for fanboys (which I wouldn't put past Goro to do, because, he's Goro and he'll do whatever the hell he wants), but aside from that element being ratcheted up I don't really see a whole lot of difference between the two seasons. Then again, S1 aired almost two years ago, so maybe I (and everyone else) might have just forgotten the first season's nitty-gritty details in a wash of nostalgia and "those were the days". And also possibly (and this is the general case, not referring to you or anyone specifically) the explosion of popularity it enjoyed in the intervening time, since we all know there are people who like to hate popular things so that they can tell other people very loudly that they do not like <popular thing>.
