Nobunaga The Fool is a pleasant surprise of this season, a very curious yet enjoyable mix of many genres : Mecha, Sengoku Period, Sci-Fi, Fantasy & Romance, which may raise many brows given the unique sense of history of this anime, but that flamboyant extravagance has many charms, just like the main protagonist, Oda Nobunaga, a foolish and persistant man who aims to conquer heavens and earth as he is said to be the Savior-King by his allies, Jeanne d'Arc and Da Vinci. King Arthur and many other notable historical figures make their entrance, while the internal strife of the Oda clan is at its peak. Nobunaga The Fool shows us foolishness, determination, betrayal, sacrifices, hope, and love. It appeals to our emotions and keeps the suspens till the very end. The well executed overall presentation manages to catch our attention with an impredictable conquest, a rich cast of voice actors, a beautifully handled animation and a very memorable soundtrack. The fast paced story, the intense interactions between the characters, the epic battle scenes, and the subsequent plot twists make it an anime you look forward to where it would take you.

Phantom : Requiem of the Phantom is a beautifully told sad story. This is one dark anime that doesn't compromise, depicting the psychological state of mind of the main protagonists in a way you can feel their pain, their despair, their struggle. Kill or be killed. Instincts end up having the upper hand, and those who aren't able to kill anymore die invariably.

the infamous crime organization Inferno as the almighty Phantom, just to stay alive. Even under such circumstances, the main protagonists remain interesting. Their ability to adapt to hardships and their mutual interactions are conveyed in a way you can feel sympathy for them even though they are assassins. From denial to acceptance, they change, sometimes drastically, find their resolves, make promises and choose unexpected paths, which is accentuated with the time skips in the anime. Scheming, manipulation and betrayal are the main occupation of the supportive characters who happen to be the executives of Inferno. They control Phantom as would a puppet master handle his puppets, especially the calculating Claudio Mc Cunnen and the sly researcher Scythe Master.
The action scenes are enthralling and dramatic, complementing the emotional heaviness of Phantom : Requiem of the Phantom to reveal the full power of those widely known as the assassins of Inferno. The smoothness of the animation, the greatness of the voice acting cast and the mostly classical and fitting original sountrack make the show highly appealing. This anime is a poignant experience that changes something within your way of thinking.

This masterpiece is the adaption of City Hunter's manga, one of Weekly Shōnen Jump's best-selling series of all time, from the all-known popular hit by Hojo Tsukasa. City Hunter is the code name of the main character, Ryo Saeba, Tokyo's best sweeper, private detective and body guard, as well as the number one pervert in Japan.

moving with pinpoint accuracy, shoot through the same hole in a target many times, and draw, shoot then reload his gun faster than any opponent. Strongly feared in the underworld of Tokyo, he lives the way he sees fit, in a Carpe Diem way, and can be contacted by leaving a note with an "XYZ "on the bulletin board at Shinjuku Station.
Just as how he is an intelligent and ressourceful in the battlefield, Ryo can easily turn into a pervert when beautiful women are around. As for that matter, he accepts requests from women only, resulting in many comical "Mokkori" situations. Kaori Makimura is his self-proclaimed assistant, the sister of his late best friend and partner, and the only woman he doesn't seem to notice. Their gradually evolving teamwork, and their mysterious relationship make their missions all the more intriguing, with many unexpected turns of event. The supportive characters are quite appealing, with the beautiful and skilled Saeko Nogami, the ambitious police inspector who uses her charms to persuade Ryo to help her solve many cases, and Falcon/Umibozu, a good partner in many missions, and an equally good rival of Ryo. As the story unfolds, many old acquaintances make their appearence, and the hidden past of Ryo Saeba comes to light, dark and disturbing. Many hardships await the City Hunter team, and in times of crisis, Ryo and Kaori end up realizing their feelings for each other, but have yet to make decisions considering their line of work.
Through the four seasons of 140 episodes of City Hunter, the animation is vivid and pleasant, the voice actors cast brilliant, and the original soundtrack soulful and inspiring. The mind blowing action, the endearing comedy and the bittersweet romance make this anime a classic in the shounen genre, and certainly holds a special place in many hearts. As for the ending, you'll need to read to manga.
I highly recommand this anime. A 10 out of 10.

Kakumei Valvrave is a truly brilliant anime about revolution. High school students making their own country, which looks utterly unrealistic but somehow appealing. In a futuristic setting, the main plot is about war itself. Tactics, resolves, and feelings of main and supportive characters are explored, from L Elf, the one man army to Haruto, the frightened high school student who turns into a monster. about themselves and what they are fighting for. As one would expect from the author of Code Geass, this mecha anime is not only about mind blowing fights, brilliant tactics and aching hearts, it focuses on the definition of a monster which is highly controversial. Is it a non-human being or is it someone too brutal to be human ? The second question focuses on change and peace. What does it take to achieve peace ?
Through the two seasons of Kakumei Valvrave, the animation is flawless, the chara design impeccable. The opening and ending songs are brilliant and the soundtrack fitting. The voice actors cast is great, with a special mention to L Elf seiyuu.
I highly recommend this anime. A 10 out of 10.

Code Geass is a masterpiece you certainly don't want to miss. Addictive and intriguing, this anime manages to instigate a lasting impact with his appealing main character. The introduction of the Geass, the contract concluded with C.C, and the resulting schemes of Lelouch Lamperouge as he seeks to overthrow the Holy Britannian Empire steadily build up the tension and the emotional and moral depth of Code Geass. for ? As the story unfolds, we learn more about Lelouch's past, his motives and his resolve as he leads the Black Knights as Zero. Friendship, partnership and betrayal are themes evoqued and thoroughly explored by the main protagonists who happen to envision life differently. Every supportive cast characters has his own role to play in the story, which leads to many unexpected turns of event. The plot twists will undoubtly make you think and hope and laugh and scream and cry at times. The despair of Lelouch Lamperouge made him use his full potential to achieve his goal while accepting the consequences of his own acts.
This anime is my definition of a masterpiece, magnified with a beautifully handled animation, a great cast of voice actors and a truly inspiring soundtrack. This winning combination will keep you glued till the very end.
A 10 out of 10.
P.S : This review is about the two seasons of Code Geass, which are equally enjoyable.

This is a disturbingly brilliant anime, a masterpiece. Fascinating and addictive, you find yourself immersed in Psycho-Pass world in mere seconds. The tension is palpable, between a badass protagonist and an equally badass antagonist. You get the feeling you are going to watch an epic anime, and the anticipation keeps you glued to the screen till the very end.

the Sibyl System is used to find latent criminals, and judge them. The plot focuses on Shinya Kougami, an "enforcer" working under an inspector in Public Safety Bureau's Criminal Investigation Division. As the story unfolds, we learn more about his past and motives. His sharpness when it comes to finding leads and predicting the criminals moves, combined with his outstanding physical fitness catches the interest of the main antagonist who targets him. His superior, the newly assigned inspector Akane Tsunemori is confronted with many hardships, but proves to be an interesting protagonist with her inner strengh and ability to adapt quickly to any given situation. The supporting characters are very appealing, their interactions with the main protagonists, their past and resolves bring more depth to the story.
This is a dark psychological-action anime that doesn't have much room for humour, and as one would expect from the author Urobuchi Gen, the characters question justice, good and evil, human's value, anarchy, and many other interesting concepts.
The animation is an eye candy, with outstanding opening and ending themes that convey perfectly the character and essence of Psycho-Pass. The original soundtrack enhances the Psycho-Pass watching experience. The main theme is intense, and very fitting to the action packed scenes. The voice acting cast is great, making the characters vivid and believable, with a special mention to Tougami Shinya's seiyuu.
A 10 out of 10. This anime never disappoints.

Kaichou wa Maid-sama is certainly one of the best Shojo ever made. The plotline may look classic at the first glance, but the story captivates your attention without delay, and soon enough, you will realize the uniqueness of the story. Misaki is the president of her high school's council, and works in a maid cafe because of her family debts. She is a strong, capable and caring protagonist, but also a feminist that looks down on men. She has to meet Usui Takumi,

the handsome, popular and genius guy who looks utterly annoyed all the time, but who will take a special interest in her after finding out she works as a maid. Takumi is not your classic bishounen, he speaks his mind all the time, can say/do very weird things, but still looks adorable, and his chibi version is way too endearing. His nickname is the perverted alien, which is quite fitting. The tension between Misaki and Takumi keeps building with every passing day which makes the anime thrilling and heartwarming. The humour in Kaichou wa Maid-sama is terribly effective, the supporting characters are well portrayed, and the whole atmosphere of this masterpiece will make you smile often. The animation is beautiful, the voice actors are brilliant, especially Okamoto Nobuhiko, the soundtrack is sweet, and the second ending song absolutely addictive. A must see for every fan of Shojo animes.
