Excellent review on Daddy Long Legs. As someone who actually read the original book first I had a lot of similar thoughts as I was watching it. As wonderful as the animation and direction of the plot was there's no denying that the anime was plagued from the start due to the source material having that from the very beginning. I'm so happy to at least see someone else address that as an issue!

I think some of it comes down to the fact that if I like a show I'll actually take the time to add it here - there are probably 3x the number of shows listed that I watched the first couple episodes and then dropped, so I either didn't enjoy them or simply didn't watch enough to really give them a clear "ranking." All of my 10s I'd go to bat for as I think they are great shows and I loved them, though admittedly some are because I feel they are objectively amazing (Shirkobako) while others are mostly because I personally loved them even though I would still say they are great even if not amazing shows (Bonobono).

As for the odd combination of shows, I think I like a wide diversity of shows - I don't really have a "go to" genre that I watch more than others. I loved Ao Haru Ride as it was my first introduction to the writings of Io Sakisaka, and I've really enjoyed Strobe Edge by her and I'm looking forward to "Love me, Love me not" coming out as an anime (though I still have yet to read the manga). I can honestly say I enjoy shonen and seinen just as much as I love shojo and josei.

Maybe this clarifies, maybe not, but thanks for checking out my profile! I looked at yours and I think we are just going off of different scales (though I think you are also probably harder on shows than I would be). I might follow your lead and add "tags" so I can give a note as to why I like the shows that I do.
It’s time to ditch the text file.
