My very creative comment on the discussion threat is actually getting discussion on the profile; so that's cool. I don't see why common impulse is to call me out on my favorite shows with broken grammar, every time. It's always subjective ranting from the majority of the fanboys.

Yeah, seriously, blood and gore does not make the storyline good. I heard about how ingenious the ending was, I expected it to wrap itself up in an intelligent manner. I'm hoping that wasn't the "good ending".
I actually enjoyed Katanagatari immensely, mostly the witty dialogue. I didn't actually watch Bakemonogatari analytically, so I can't exactly comment on that, Nisemonogatari on the other hand, is turning out to be really great.
And yeah, people watch to be entertained, I do too, just not when the entertainment goes braindead.

=3, the mystery is still there, but the mystery would be so much more enjoyable if it was paired with GOOD ost, GOOD characters, and GOOD plot, rather than mediocre in all sections; it becomes negligible, people look past the positive and focus entirely on the overwhelming negative, such as this case.
There's plenty of intelligent writing, most of the time, the psuedo-intellect outweighs the stupidity. Take for instance the gatari's, there's not a lot of series that could compare with it in terms of intelligent dialogue.
But yeah, I do understand that the majority of people will watch whatever if there's a cute poster girl, in this case Mei.
And yeah those deaths, Another would be amazing if it was a horror- parody, rather than a genuine horror. The cliche deaths, the mediocre music, the melodramatic reactions, it has everything.
Let's break this into sections. I'll try to remain as objective as possible.
The characters are mediocre, I'll ignore this section though, I can't argue against human instinct, regardless on how illogical some of the actions are. Just saying that if Mei didn't exist as an attractive heroine with an alleged "mysterious" personality, then nobody would give a damn about the show. Anyhow, Let's skip to the main genre of this show, horror.
The horror is done in such a mediocre way.
The first few episodes was essentially still, nothing happened, just foreshadowing accompanied with sporadic, redundant flashes of dolls. Suddenly, people begin dying in some of the most retarded ways possible, and it's done on such a methodological formula on an episodic basis.
Every episode went exposition -> more background information -> sporadic, illogical death at the end. You could use the excuse that the "curse" doesn't need logic, but that's just a poor defense, just because it can doesn't mean it has to be. This cycle of events continued on to the most recent episode.
Attacking this was harder than I expected, memory of it blows even if I do type three pages of it weekly. Let's go onto the OST I guess.
Another insists on playing generic, melodramatic horror music at every possible instance. Regardless of how exciting the scenario is, if they get a clue, the music is cued, if someone dies, the music is cued, if he leaves the house alone, the music is cued, there isn't a clear line between when the music is being used appropriately, causing it to lose its effect after a while. At times, the mood of the show would have been better accentuated with silence, rather than cheesy music playing in the background.
