Honestly one of the best stories I have ever seen in any media.
The story is about a mysterious event that happens in a small town called hinamizawa that would result in the death of every single person in the village. The strange thing is it is happening over and over again at the same time period.
As events unfold the show will leave you asking, WTF is happening in this place?
The show will confuse you with multiple possible explanation as to what is happening with different possible ways that would lead to the death of everyone. Each time everyone dies, more and more
...
of the story is explained with many red herrings added into the mix.
When the story is finally explained in season 2 you realize how tragic and sad the story really is. As if the all the death and blood was not bad enough, the story reveals who the true victim is.
This may be a horror, mystery, and supernatural thriller, but it is also inspiring in its explanation of the word perseverance and the concept of an endless hell. It explores the meaning of hope in a very refined way and it warms the heart when their hard work finally pays off.
In addition, this show made excellent use of materials to improve the story. They used blood and gore to intensify moments and to really show how terrible things are. The use of red herring is genius, misleading me who guesses story lines for breakfast. The use of lovable characters to show how nice everything is before everything collapses.
I strongly recommend this show for those people that likes to think, mysteries, and battle of wits, and don't mind blood and gore, psycho moments, or being confused for an entire season.

First off, I am not going to rate this show for the entire season 1. Instead this review will be only about the SAO arc which I would like to think of as the real season 1 and that Alfheim was season 1 bonus episodes or maybe even OVAs.
Season 1 of SAO was great. Since I am a pretty pro gamer (meaning in the games I play my KD ratio is very high and my ELO is always in the 2000s and I BETA test like Kirito and I play in tournaments), I can empathize with Kirito a lot and even started to
...
make references to Kirito about myself. The story and the concepts kept me interested throughout. The show managed to catch my attention from the very first episode and the use of video archetypes kept me constantly amused. With a good mix of action and romance, the show quickly moved up in my list of top anime.
The characters, I felt, was lovable too. As I have said, I can emphasize with Kirito and want to actually be someone like Kirito. He is awesome. Asuna is lovable too. She would make a perfect wife for a gamer being beautiful, kind, hard working, gamer, a good cook, and did I mention she can make really good sandwiches? The part with Yui is so cute. They would make a beautiful family.
I loved the ending also. I felt like I got still got the kick from an ending where the main character dies like in Elfen Lied but just when I started to wish it was a happy ending It was all good again. I thought they ended it beautifully with Kazuto searching for Asuna in the end.
Im not gonna bother reviewing the bonus episodes because then this show wouldn't deserve a 10 and I want to give the show a 10 so badly. Bonus episodes I'll rate it as maybe a 7 or an 8.

This anime is a lot of fun. The only word that I can think of to describe the story of Gurren Lagann is epic.Everything in this anime is epic.
The setting takes place in a apocalyptic future from a small hole in the ground, to the wasteland on the surface, to capital cities, to space, to entire galaxies, to dimensional rift in the galaxy that would serve as the battle ground for the final battle because the universe itself is not big enough to hold the final battle.
The story has a lot of things incorporated into it. So much action and epic fights and
...
moments with a lot of thought provoking concepts to match. I see so much understanding of theoretical philosophy and science in the story that I love it. The story gets pretty ridiculous as the story progresses (and it makes me laugh sometimes) but generally it makes it better. That is due in my opinion so many philosophical and scientific concepts are being added into this story I can't help but get excited and say" holy sh&t this is f^%king epic! what are they going to add next to this show?" because you feel like nothing is too big to add to this show. A lot of people say that this show gets so ridiculous it makes no sense. The show makes sense to me in almost way (my personal rule never say 100% sure unless Im trying to be epic). I think I can understand and explain almost anything that happens in the show and would take on that challenge if I have to.
The main characters are extremely likable and epic. Kamina is so manly and dumb that he is one of my favorite characters in an epic and awesome way. The rest of the characters would later all share his attitude including Simon who becomes like a clone of him.
(Yoko is one of my favorite anime girls so a short description of her)
There is also Yoko. Only fan service to some but to me she is the perfect woman. In the exterior, she is a war hardened soldier. She knows what must be done and what is most important which makes her a fine soldier mentally and she is a capable sniper physically making her the only human that can take down a gunman without another gunman (besides from Lord Genome who can take one out with his fist). On the inside I see a sweet, fragile, and shy little girl that is willing to make sacrifices and leans more to the intellectual side than her surface suggests. She won't show it much as a good soldier won't show their true self but in moments where she let her guard down it is pretty evident. She is loyal as hell, not getting married and even devoting her life to be a teacher to for fill Kamina's wish to protect children. Cute face, long red hair, and a killer body she is an ideal woman. Don't say she is a slut because of her outfit. In their setting clothe could be hard to get. Look at how much clothing simon and kamina wears and she wears what fits the situation. She actually prefers less skin evident in her swimsuit and teacher outfit. Also her loyalty to Kamina proves her to be the opposite to the meaning of slut. (I could go on but I ranted too long)

When this anime first came out, I read the synopsis for it and thought this is probably only going to be a meh anime. I wasn't going to watch it at first but 3 month after I first heard of it I decided to check it out on one boring school day with nothing to do but to play with my phone. I fell in love with this anime the first episode.
The thing that caught my eye about this anime is the main character and the concepts of the story. The main character is just....awesome. He is strong, smart, understanding, confident, relaxed, funny, fun, perverted,
...
open minded, serious, honorable and most important of all selfless. Analyzing him makes it pretty epic. He is like the title suggests a rogue hero, and a true hero like the anime suggests. All he wants to do is to make people happy and protect innocence (which i feel is represented by girls in here) from everything that dare make it unhappy. He doesn't need gratitude. He gladly shoulders this burden to protect innocence knowing he will have to make great sacrifices (suffering others pain to help them, taking on all the problems by himself, physical injuries etc.) and the only reward he will get is happiness of others. His goal is realistic understanding that he is only a man doing only as much as he can physically do but still always testing his limits to improve himself so he can do more. Rules or laws do not stop him. He knows what is more important and must be done. He is my hero now. He is everything that I always try to be so I guess that is why he appeals to me so much when I watched this show.
The setting is pretty awesome. Its society has both magic and technology. The structure of government is uniquely built with a feeling that babel is has all the power. It also includes other dimensions which are medieval by appearance and has their own government. The dimensions seem to know of each other's existence which I thought is interesting to see how they would interact. The concept leaves much to wonder on and therefore a lot of mystery and potential. This is still only season 1 and I can't wait for season 2.
The story itself is quite entertaining. The story has a lot of little everyday events that you can relate too. I found them funny yet surprisingly on topic. The story topic is suppose to be about the aesthetics of a rogue hero, or the appreciation of the concept of a "rogue hero" and from the 12 episodes I feel I had great appreciation of what a rogue hero is. The only thing that could be better is if they move the main plot along a little faster but it is too hard to tell at this point to know if they are or not. Need to know how relevant the information they are showing in season 1 are to the plot to know for sure.

Genre: drama, tragedy, emotional
Lots of blood and gore. I find the entire anime to be vey emotional. In the beginning, the story was kinda slow but once you get a grasp of what is going on, the show can get very emotional. I had a lot of empathy for the characters in this anime. They suffered so much pain and loss from living in such a cruel world. Yet what is nice about this anime is the amount of hope the characters still have to achieve happiness and what they would have to sacrifice to enjoy even a drop of that goal. It get you
...
thinking about how cruel fate can be and the human struggle against that fate.
For such a short anime, I feel there is a lot to this anime. I don't think I covered everything and I'm upset that I couldn't.
