I have watched many Chinese movies/ donghua and same as others this as well has a strong relation to their traditions. Without a doubt this is one of the movies I would recommend for anyone without hesitation. It shows the struggle of life, poverty, bullying and also how it will give one strength to fight through it all. The characters were likable and the story was easy to follow as well.

Although initially the poster and the anime itself gives a feeling that it is going to be historical it was not completely what you expect it to be on a good note. "Shouwa Genroku Rakugo Shinijuu" is definitively one of the best I have come across which in my opinion leaves you with anticipation as to what will come next, guessing and expecting for twists and turns.
Story 10/10 : The story itself revolves around Rakugo; a Japanese comedic storytelling and the closest instance I would say to it in the present would be Stand up; although Rakugo in my opinion seems much more reserved, much ...

If your are thinking if you have to watch this or not; if this will be good and keep checking reviews without being able to make up your mind, I would say I was there for months before I finally decided to give this movie a try.
I have watched almost all the studio Ghibli movies and this was one of the movies I loved so much after a few minute into it.
