Why do you think you became watching less anime in recent years?

hi, just passing by to ask. Who is the girl on your forum avatar? thanks.

Haha, seeing as I've already gone through over 22 episodes since I last touched my game is proof of that. I do have to beat that game twice too to get the good ending so there's that, but I hear it's nearly not as long since it's more of an expansion.

I'll have to check it out, but I feel obligated to finish FFX-2 since I already started it so it'll probably take a while haha.

Yeah, I think watching instead of playing is just a better fit. It works well when I'm eating, working out, and watching TV. It's also a nice way to decompress when I have the time. Much easier to go through a good series than a good game too, haha. The ratio of commitment/time to enjoyment scales better unlike most games XD.

I haven't put a whole lot of time to play games lately especially with my occasional anime binges, haha. Would you say a large amount of content would be missing if you didn't play the prequels up to Persona 5 or does it stand alone well on its own?
Nymphetamine2791 Jul 15, 2018 10:07 AM
I only played 7 through X, but I think my sister played all of them so that's how I came to learn more about the history. Yeah, as great as graphics have evolved over time, I haven't played a long RPG where I was really immersed into it in a while now.

Well, I said why I thought the story was good, but I'm extremely biased so take it with a grain of salt lol. Actually, I don't think you can say the sound track is really good for any FF game. Nobuo Uematsu is the genius behind all the music you and I both like from the series up to FFX. He composed almost all of that music during his time with Squaresoft, but when Squaresoft merged to become Square Enix in 2005 due to financial reasons he went freelance since the company relocated. It's a very controversial topic depending who you talk to, and I'm not very knowledgeable on it, but the quality in terms of both music and gameplay/story [arguably] dropped significantly following that transition. I think FFX was the last Squaresoft FF game made. Not to say the following games under Square Enix after X are bad, but they just don't compare to the established legacy and is just riding out the franchise name. Again, it's a debatable topic, but a passionate and heated one among the serious fan base (which I am not). I will say that I think FF7 remake is also being released in segments which I think is a total BS move to milk out more money so that speaks for itself with the current state.

I think people either hate it or love it. I really enjoyed it for its story. It has this parallel/flash back story thing going on and love and destiny is kind of the central theme behind it. The music is also really good; one of my all time favorite piano pieces I eventually learned how to play is from that game. I also replayed that game on Steam and used my controller- no modifications required. The game is more linear with not a lot of side quests. Combat isn't nearly as much fun as 7 since the whole Materia concept was fun/interesting, so really the only strong thing going for it is story lol.

Haha, nah, when I was in high school I was really looking forward to moving out and just being more independent and now that I'm older I'm here like, "wow, my problems back then were nothing". Yeah, I did replay FF7 especially since I was six when it came out and didn't really understand what was going on at the time. I went through and beat that hardest opponents and did all the side quests. If you do pick it up I would suggest getting it on PC. I modded the game for graphics/translation and it was well worth it. Unfortunately, I also had to map my controller to work with the joystick but once I got that out of the way it was all good. I replayed FF8 (my favorite) before 7 and now I'm playing the remastered X and X-2 for PS4 since it was $20 and I enjoyed it when I was in middle school.

Well, such is life... the best we can do is make the most out of what we know now :P. It's funny, when I was younger I wished I was older and now that I'm getting older I wish I could go back to being younger. It's as if I'm never happy where I am in the present haha. I've been good, thanks for asking. I've just been doing the same old. A lot of working, drinking, car stuff, and squeezing some anime in between. I've also been going over my past times revisiting some of the Final Fantasy games haha.

Aki! Good to hear from you, how have you been? Yeah, I really liked ReLIFE; I guess I can relate to wanting to go back with a fresh start knowing what I know now- and it's a good romance too haha. Thanks for the recommendation, I just finished watching it. I'm glad I finally got some closure from the original series. The marker on the hand scene was great and I'm happy she ultimately remembered in addition to Kaizaki paying the experience forward. I also do enjoy the whole "I'd fall in love with you all over again" thing. Reminded me of that popular movie, "Your Name"

I get the whole dense-headed protagonist thing, but Eren is seriously killing me here lol. I agree; when the story was unfolding and/or action was rolling the series had great momentum, but otherwise the drama muddied the waters.
It’s time to ditch the text file.
