I'd look out about her through MAL, one of the character who is a singer with blue hair, her name was Ruka Suirenji, I haven't watch the movie or read the manga, that's why I didn't know her lol

have you watch the anime 'K'? I wanted to try watching it but prefer to ask others' opinion first before decided on watching it..

I also liked the original one better
btw did you know the singer from the series, I'm quite lost about her
did she ever show in any of the series?

Genshiken, eh? That one takes a bit longer to get to full speed. It's constantly building the character personalities. And the things they each do seem to always play a part later because it references the past a lot.

But I wouldn't bother with the anime. It's not nearly as good. I gave it a 6, versus the manga's 10. My friends who have seen both have similar rating differences. The comedy just doesn't flow as well somehow. Like time is stopped in each manga panel, so you can read someones funny thoughts or snide under-their-breath remark as happening in real-time, but the anime has to do each piece one at a time, out loud, which makes for awkward pauses in the scenes.

You probably should finish Gurren Lagann. I think you'll gain respect for Kamina very shortly, and your opinion of Simon should change too.

Also, you don't even need to think of it as a 27 episode long series. Because it's like it's over halfway through. Like it's reached the pinnacle of epicness (a continuation of how each episode is so much broader in scope and significance than the last) by the climactic "end" halfway through. It seems over. It should be over. What can these last 13 or 14 episodes possibly be? And then it's like a whole new thing. You thought it couldn't be any more epic. But you'd be wrong. Mind blown. Like finding out you're in the Matrix or something... (but it's not that). So just finish to that midway part and then see if you want to take a break or continue.

Hontou?! Arigatou ne..
I would gladly accept your offer. Right now I'm trying to arrange my time so that I could finished my fully downloaded anime and maybe didn't had the time to watch anime for this season T^T

Anyway, could you list some if you had any download link for anime this season. Actually I'm quite desperate searching for it lol. I hope I did not cause you much trouble with it.
Timofmars Sep 20, 2012 11:18 PM
Did I come off as defensive? lol. No, you can say whatever you want. Trust me, I wouldn't take offense even if you bashed and ridiculed my tastes. And you did nothing of the sort.

You might be right about needing to enjoy the action/shounen aspects of baccano/durarara/DtB. I do get annoyed at all the over-the-top ridiculously exaggerated characters that have basically 1 personally trait or feature and that's all they are. I think part of the problem is that these shows take themselves so seriously, it just feels like it's trying to be cool and awesome, but all I see is pompous tough-guys with as much depth as a cardboard cutout.

Now, I did watch Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann, which had a slightly similar style of exaggerated characters and events, but it didn't take itself seriously. The exaggerated characters somehow fit nicely to the epic style of the show, and the characters were more dynamic and had flaws. So somehow, I actually enjoyed that show even though it looked like something I definitely shouldn't have liked.

As for manga, I read it on an iPhone app I downloaded. It's pretty convenient since it's all there to be searched and downloaded, and it opens right up where you left off, keeps you updated on new chapters. Reading on a laptop doesn't sound bad to me, though. I'd definitely read in bed with a laptop like you might do with any book.

I haven't read too much manga yet, but I definitely like it a lot more than I thought I would. I thought for sure anime would be better, but not anymore. I've gotten recommendations from people and I've used popularity ratings to find things to read, so that probably helped a lot to make sure I was reading something really good.

Looking at your anime list ratings, I'd highly recommend you try reading Girl Friends. It's my favorite and it seems to be a good fit to the romances you rated highly. It's yuri romance and comedy, btw. I was hooked by the 2nd chapter, if not the first.

Genshiken is also really good. It's hilarious with very well developed characters that seem really realistic so you can relate to them as being real people (real otakus, actually), not simply characters. I know I said our comedy tastes are different but this doesn't seem like any of the comedies we have in common.

Yokohama Kaidashi Kikou is a simple read. It's a slice of life thing that mostly pictures and not much dialogue or words. It gives a very nostalgic and relaxing feeling. I'm not sure you'll like it, but it's different. And it easy to see if you'll like it since there not really a need to read far in to get a feel for it, and you blow through chapters fast since you're just looking at pictures and only slow down to take them in and admire them.

I already knew you had different tastes in comedy. I keep that in mind whenever I'm looking at a comedy's stats page.

I didn't hate Myself;Yourself either. I gave it a 6. But now that I think about it, the romance wasn't really the problem I had with it. It was more about the lack of focus on everything, like I was wondering what the point of the show was even if some segments and characters were fun. It was more of a mystery than a romance, but the problem was that it didn't give me anything to anticipate and wonder about, and instead it just surprises you with a sudden dramatic moment, but then resolves that with an explanation just a minute later. (I've now removed that show from romance part of my profile, but leaving it for the "forced drama" part.)

Actually, that sounds a bit like my problem with baccano/durarara/darker than black. Instead of making me think, I feel like it just leaves me too much in the dark, and so it fails to give me something to care about or to root for. With a normal mystery, you know as much as the main characters do, so it's fine since you're seeing their story from their point of view. You think on their behalf. But these other ones I mention are told from an overhead, sort of omniscient way, except it feels like it's ONLY you who is being left in the dark and not really knowing anybody's full story. There's also less personal internal dialogue that would allow you to know someone's true thoughts and dilemmas, and instead you observe characters from a far-away 3rd person viewpoint.

Anyway, I know where you're coming from in your comments. It makes sense that you'd have such similar ratings for shows as I do. Have you ever tried any manga?
Timofmars Sep 18, 2012 7:40 PM
Yep, that's it. It was just a manga page screenshot before.
Timofmars Sep 18, 2012 5:32 PM
Ya like my new profile page?
plusminus88 Sep 13, 2012 2:28 AM
Well, I loved about how the story goes and how the plots develop, also the unexpected ending (where Kanade is actually human and the person that received Otonashi's heart) that gave me the interest to watch it until the end. But, it just that I don't like on how the story ends since it was going well throughout the story.

Sometimes I download those anime (when I got the time) and seldom streaming it online though. The reason that gave me the hard time is that I went to all places searching for it's dvd (since honestly I don't know where to download it lol)
plusminus88 Sep 7, 2012 4:45 AM
hey! still remember me?
thanx 4 the recommendation on Angels Beats, it took me quite some time to search for it
well, it was good (ended up rating it 8/10) and was hoping more of your recommendation in the future =)
Timofmars Sep 3, 2012 11:44 PM
Haha, you make it seem like it was complicated or something.

I'm not too talkative on here and mainly use it for tracking, but I also like having friends with similar tastes so that when I look at something I'm thinking about watching, I can click the "stats" page and it shows what all my friends rated it. That's a lot more helpful than the overall score.
