This has 60 episodes with an average length of 10 minutes, and this is fairly enough to introduce the background of the story. This donghua serves to be a good promotion for the novel, which is further proved by the cliffhanger in the last episode. As the novel has 2315 chapters, adapting them in its entirety seems almost impossible. So, I'd say this donghua at least lays out most of the background setting of the novel, if not the entire.

The story is about a teenager and an adult, and the romance genre mentioned in this anime page, may make you think that this is some huge age gap love story, & the ML is a pedo. But that is not the case.
For the basic plot of this anime, it'd be best if this anime page had the genre of Slice of Life instead of Romance.
