I guess I might not be as enthusiastic as others when it comes to Angel Beats...
Story : So basically it is composed of wo parts, first one being the fight against angel and the SSS. I feel a bit upset that there are, in the end, two major story holes, and it affects my perception of the story : 7
Art : The eyes of the character are really beautiful, especially their color. The art is pretty much classic otherwise, 7.

Story : The first episodes are really exciting, as the universe of the anime is presented. I kinda got bored of the part about Yukine's wrongdoings , and maybe the final part was a bit short.
So, in a nutshell, I guess the rhythm was not adapted. 7 Art : Visually, I was pleased : it's a colorful anime, especially the "execution" scenes. It sometimes had over the top art, which imo blended well when used. Also, the fights were clear, something I consider really important in anime like these. 9 Sound : I don't really know what to think of it. I watched the dub version, and ...

This anime doesn't deserve that much hate, I think that it is a great anime to watch lightfully and not seriously.
Story : While the story seems kinda classic, it is still greatly told. The jokes are funny, even if they tend to repeat themselves (kinda gets old after the eighth episode). However, the "plot twist" around episode 8 "restarts" the story and that is what kept me going to the end of it. So I rate it 6. Art : Flashy colors and overall good animations. Some of the animation, by being exagerated, is really funny. That's a 9. Sound : I did not pay attention to ...

This episode basically recaps season 1. As, IMO, it targets people who hasn't seen season 1, I think it does a pretty good job at telling the main events.
The best soundtracks are here, the main characters are presented. However, there was few new animation (I guess it was even none). For people who have already seen season 1, it is a great reminder, and surely a quick one, while still being respectful of the best scenes from season 1. To conclude on all this : I think it is a pretty good episode to get yourself in the mood before watcing season 2. However, as it required ... |
