I read your Shin Kimagure Orange Road review and was surprised to see you're still active after all these years.

GOD, talk about lagging behind! I've only watched four shows from 2018, I believe hahahaha. That 2018 challenge didn't help either, since I had to watch a bunch of bizarre anime just to complete it. The only anime and manga that I'm forced to watch/read weekly are jojo and one piece. Some anime that I've seen recently that I could recommend (and that aren't on your list) are Black Lagoon, Higurashi no Naku Koro Ni, Violet Evergarden and Gundam 08th Ms Team (I see you're a fan of gundam, so maybe you'll like this one). Some other anime that I really love and I believe are not on your list are Mushishi, Shiki, Serial Experiments Lain and the Kizumonogatari movies, which are prequels so you don't really have to experience the other monogataris before. I hope this doesn't sound pretentious haha. Also, definitely jojo part 5 when it ends!

You haven't listed Plastic Memorys down seriously? One of Doga Kobos most watched animes and that is based in Singapore it's self. No joke, you'll recognise many places such a number of the shopping centres along with the Kim Hong complex and the area named Gardens by the bay and one of the main locations is on Handy Road (and no I am not and have never been to the country and have just looked them up) I think it wwill be worth checking out some time soon as well since it's a feels anime as well hence the name. Definately worth adding.

Sakamichi no Apollon is Josei that's one of the reasons it's (i expect it to be) bit more mature and complex. Something like with Shounen vs Seinen (Aimed at teens vs young adults) :)
I'm also glad for POV from guy, thx for confirming that for me :)
From what i managed to learn about anime, anime aimed at young adults are often much better maybe bc i'm still that young adult that they aim it at or those types of anime are just generally better haha :)

Ahoy Relon, love your take on old school anime! I noticed you're from Singapore and I was planning a visit this weekend for a bit and wanted some intel, like the best stores to purchase kawaii-o merchandise/manga/anime and the like. And maybe any cute (otaku friendly) activities you know which are going on between the 1st and the 9th of February?
Thank you so much ^^

Hi there fellow romance lover,
yeah I'm very glad that ppl try to help me to sort of collect more titles of my preferred genre.

El hazard - True i was thinking about watching it but stalled it for time and forgot about it. Maybe i should try it out sometime soon. I believe i read somewhere that main heroin was different character in OVA but i have yet to confirm that for myself. Anyway thank you for reminding it to me.

Indeed. Feel free to use my list to find more titles to your liking as well. I try to keep everything tagged.

Hello, Melon. It seems I placed a PSME video-track on your profile the year before. Yes.

As for your question, my apologies for the delayed response. Not as active or as interactive as I was in my more youthful days. It's kinda hard to give you good recs when you don't rate much, though...

Kokoro Connect is my favourite anime of recent years. (In fact, it's the only anime I've 9/10'd in years!) I thought, going into it, it'd be your conventional school girl moe rubbish, with a gender-switching twist. But it's actually HEAVILY reliant on dialogue and witty exchanges that explore the disturbed psychological states of a group of friends/wannabe lovers as they get closer to each other.

My second favourite recent anime would be Binbogami ga!with its hilarious parody humour, mixed with some tender moments.

THAT DN parody:

you're welcome

By the way, be sure not to comment on your own profile, instead of on someone else's. Thanking yourself helps no-one.

Hello, Melon. I remembered you because of your Summer's Beginning review, which I'd glanced over previously.

I've already watched the Battle Angel OVA. I've already dropped the Battle Angel manga. Refer to my list comments for more info, but the short of it is that only the content covered by the OVA got anything out of me; the rest being disjointed and all over the place.

The manga teaser / OVA you MUST watch after enjoying two of the more mature anime movies I've rated highly is Please Save My Earth. The only reason it's rated low, by MAL's standards, is because it's incomplete; requiring the manga to finish. You will not see better characterization, or a more interesting premise.

The long-arse manga/anime you NEED to read/watch is Maison Ikkoku. Unusually for the medium of school girl-filled Japan, the heroine is a 22-year-old widow. It's probably the best romance manga/anime has to offer. It's a must for someone misguided enough to have the shallow but fun KOR as their #1.

...By the way, why do you regard the TV series higher than the final movie when it's the second movie that fully resolves a story that went nowhere in the TV series?

PS: Blood+ is calling for you, Tsukihime fanboy. The Kara no Kyoukai movies if you've yet to see them, also.

Hi, good to see another Cyber Formula fan. I remember playing a really old school game long time ago, but I haven't had a chance to play any of the recent games.
