I think that I have a unique taste for anime. Been watching series from 80s-current. Wasn't born that long ago but I'm more of an old school anime fan. Send a message if you share the same likes as mine (especially the score 8 and up anime. Really really love those) or if you want some personal recommendations.
Starting to be really interested in writing reviews again, probably will start writing them a lot more. Do give me pointers on how to write better reviews or if you like them.
And also, I need more recommendations! If you think there's an interesting anime (before 2009) or a really good new anime (2009 and later) that you think I'd like, please let me know!
Hello, Melon. It seems I placed a PSME video-track on your profile the year before. Yes.
As for your question, my apologies for the delayed response. Not as active or as interactive as I was in my more youthful days. It's kinda hard to give you good recs when you don't rate much, though...
Kokoro Connect is my favourite anime of recent years. (In fact, it's the only anime I've 9/10'd in years!) I thought, going into it, it'd be your conventional school girl moe rubbish, with a gender-switching twist. But it's actually HEAVILY reliant on dialogue and witty exchanges that explore the disturbed psychological states of a group of friends/wannabe lovers as they get closer to each other.
My second favourite recent anime would be Binbogami ga!with its hilarious parody humour, mixed with some tender moments.
Hello, Melon. I remembered you because of your Summer's Beginning review, which I'd glanced over previously.
I've already watched the Battle Angel OVA. I've already dropped the Battle Angel manga. Refer to my list comments for more info, but the short of it is that only the content covered by the OVA got anything out of me; the rest being disjointed and all over the place.
The manga teaser / OVA you MUST watch after enjoying two of the more mature anime movies I've rated highly is Please Save My Earth. The only reason it's rated low, by MAL's standards, is because it's incomplete; requiring the manga to finish. You will not see better characterization, or a more interesting premise.
The long-arse manga/anime you NEED to read/watch is Maison Ikkoku. Unusually for the medium of school girl-filled Japan, the heroine is a 22-year-old widow. It's probably the best romance manga/anime has to offer. It's a must for someone misguided enough to have the shallow but fun KOR as their #1.
...By the way, why do you regard the TV series higher than the final movie when it's the second movie that fully resolves a story that went nowhere in the TV series?
PS: Blood+ is calling for you, Tsukihime fanboy. The Kara no Kyoukai movies if you've yet to see them, also.
Hi, good to see another Cyber Formula fan. I remember playing a really old school game long time ago, but I haven't had a chance to play any of the recent games.
