No problem! :D I'm probably going to do the same thing to you as well, I can't get enough of obscure anime! If you ever see any that are worthwhile, tell me, I'd be a glad listener! I'll always take recommendations! Even if I don't watch them immediately, I'll get there eventually, so always shoot 'em my way! :D
I also didn't enjoy NGE at first, but now I'm constantly impressed by its sheer genius and like it very much now! :) It's really in-depth and tons of cool (and depressing) things to think about after watching! What did you get out of it? Every person I've asked gives me a different answer, unsurprisingly! Man, Rose of Versailles is one of those things I know I should have watched a long time ago, though. Now that you bring it up, I'm going to make a note! And of course, remember to tell you how it is! What little I've seen of it reminds me a lot of RGU, which is 1000% my jam. Can't go wrong there!!
You're right about oldies being an squired taste. I used to watch anything from any time period as well, but there's just something so comforting and appealing about old anime that turned me into a retro baby pretty quick xD I love that word, "retro baby", its a perfect way to describe it!! I'm not immune to that nostalgia, but I've always felt like old animes are just a lot more genuine? Times were a lot simpler, so I feel like there's more of a human connection in older works. Its also more subtle in its dark themes as you discussed, which is really enjoyable and I entirely agree with! :D Modern anime often is not very subtle, in comparison, when something bad or dark happens, with all of the BWAAAH. Hopefully that makes sense.
Agh, sorry for taking so long to respond! I've been so freakin busy with college its unbelievable. And I'm moving houses this weekend! How have you been?

Ooh, those are great examples! Thanks for taking the time to look, it's pretty accurately to how I remember it, and a little better, even xD Man, that OST is such a jam! I'll do exactly what you suggested there and add the note. Nice idea, actually! If it gives me a chance to explain just another genius aspect about Big O, I'm all for it! I'm usually a little conservative with giving out high scores for anime, but Big O definitely deserves all its praise. From the world building to the characters and interesting psychological aspects, the entire thing is so thoughtful while also being enjoyable and endearing x) Its one of the rare anime that have stuck with me over the years... But nobody seems to know it! The fact it doesn't go full-on emotional turmoil might be a turn-off for some since a lot of anime nowadays are pretty edgy, but I really love the tone just as it is. I'm kind of a retro anime baby, so I know that my bias is also a factor here :'V

Ah! I made that interest stack originally as a stack to help people find a particular quiet 'vibe' in series, as if the silence was noticeable and tactful, but I agree that The Big O was one series I was a bit unsure about adding initially because the soundtrack is so recognizable and at times extremely loud x'D However, I feel like it also makes a great use of silence to capture emptiness especially for the latter half of the series, which is why I added it. I definitely see how it seems a bit out of place next to Boogiepop and Lain though, which are much more atmospheric. If you think that its unfitting I would not mind at all taking it off the stack! I guess when I remember the Big O, think of the feelings of emptiness and despair that the quiet scenes built for me. I also haven't watched it in a bit, so I'm probably exaggerating it in my head, haha. Anyway, I'm so glad to hear that you liked the Big O! I love it, despite how goofy it can sometimes be. I hope more people watch it, and I'm always glad to talk about it! Thanks for reaching out, I really appreciate it! x)

I don't come on here much so apologies if this is far too late. Pretty much episode 14, which pays off a subplot that it did set up between prior episodes , and then 15 and onwards it's continuous from there.
