About LukasROAR
Hello, I'm Luke, 20 years old, from Sheffield, England. Been a fan and admirer or anime/manga culture and work since i was 12. What drew me to it was the fact it was no holds barred, growing up it was unlikely anything animated showed violence or clever storylines that was english/american/canadian etc so japanese anime really hit me.
I'm at university studying Film and Media Production in my final year, i'm currently writing a comic book in manga style with my artist and good friend Cathy. I love films (Donnie Darko, Brick, Das Kabinett Des Dr Caligari) and music (Emmy the Great, Nirvana, Hit the Lights, Elliott Smith, UnderOath) of the alternate variety mainly but i listen and watch a wide range.
And i have a strange love of Ice Tea :)

Just read Brain333 post. He makes some very good anime suggestions. I don't know where I heard the detail on Trigun v Bebop. All I know is that I remember it coming from a reliable source and as far as I'm concerned it's true what I say. Not to say that Brian333 is wrong either.

Note to self: must watch Black Lagoon!

Dark_Ronin | 01-22-08, 4:04 AM
Hello thanks for the add Lukas :)

Calamity | 01-21-08, 3:48 PM
Yeah thanks for accepting me into the group. =D

I've actually never watched the anime. Not too much of a car guy myself either. I bet your father wouldn't be happy to hear you say that!! XD

What uni you going to and what are you studying?

I want college to get flooded haha. This course is so unorganised it's unreal. One tutor is a bit too harsh (with me and Alex mainly) and the other isn't strict enough with the rest of the group. It's ok apart from that. We're getting all the boring assignments first though, which sucks. =/

I noticed somewhere else through random browsing (forgot where) that you were asking if Black Lagoon is any good. It's amazing. My favourite anime. =D

Alex watched a few with me in college the other day and he wants to watch it too so you should definitely try and get a hold of it if you can. It's truly amazing. =]

When you back in uni?

Calamity | 01-21-08, 5:35 AM
Yeah he's like my college brother haha. He's the only other person in the group that appreciates Initial D music. Never really watched the anime but the music is amazing. XD

How's you?

Calamity | 01-21-08, 4:46 AM
Alex's brother!! XD

I think?

oh nonono, by the statement...

"Personally, though I didn't really enjoy either, season 1 and 2 of Black Lagoon are probably more similar to Cowboy Bebop than Trigun."

meant that I didn't enjoy season 1 or 2 of black lagoon. it wasn't refering to cowboy bebop or trigun.

personally, cowboy bebop is one of my favorites though it's not listed as one in my profile. I gave it a rating of 9 (which is technically the highest rating I give because I don't give 10s).

I watched it during the actual season it started so the hype didn't really effect me that much and I don't really mind something being episodic. it's just a different flavor compared to a plot that's more continuous.

Glad I could help.

Um, I just happened to stumble in here by coincidence and notice the comments about Trigun and Cowboy Bebop from Voddas.

I myself am no expert on either series (though I've seen both) but I just wanted to get let some things be known.

First, the two anime are the product of different studios and entirely different people (atleast in the important roles like director, character designer, art director, etc.). Also, if you look at the dates that they aired, they overlapped heavily (and Cowboy Bebop actually started airing first). So, I don't think it's right to say that Cowboy Bebop came from Trigun.

The two have some really loose similarities but the differences are much clearer than the similarities.

I suppose you don't really have many choices left if you're searching for similar stuff. I see you've already watched samurai champloo and outlaw star, the two closest fits to Cowboy Bebop in my book.

Personally, though I didn't really enjoy either, season 1 and 2 of Black Lagoon are probably more similar to Cowboy Bebop than Trigun.

I'd also recommend Baccano! though I've yet to finish the series myself.
