Hey guys and gals, the name's Ken or if you prefer the avatar...Oddball is fine too. I call the deep American South home. I'm a mid-age professional with a wife, two kids, and as of about 12 years ago, a renewed love of anime. I say renewed because one of my fav shows growing up was the original Starblazers: Space Battleship Yamato I watched syndicated on an independent network in the early-to-mid '80s. (That same network also blessed me with Ultraman and all the Godzilla movies that I still cherish today.) So why the renewed interest? Well, blame my daughter. She has always loved everything Japanese, growing up with Pokemon, Power Rangers, Sailor Moon, reading manga, etc. Today she's a really good sketch artist, and you can tell how much anime plays in her style. It took her more than a few years to get her dear ol' Dad interested again, but her persistence and my inner kid finally pulled me back in. :)

I also have to give credit to YouTube and those who've presented everything from the anime themselves to AMVs to critics to recommendations. About 10 years ago, I saw an amv for Black Lagoon and was instantly hooked. Not knowing you could find it for free online, I purchased blue-rays of both series and the OVA. So yes...Revy will always be my Best Girl. Next came a vid about the running "Kanna-gasms" gag from Saikawa from Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid, and suddenly everything anime was (and remains) awesome.

What anime genres do I like (I'm sure you're asking)? Action, horror, and psychological/thriller are my favs. Being a history nerd, I also love historical fiction. Libras such as myself are hopeless romantics, so bring on the rom-coms!! If it involves girls and guns...thank you, ma'am, may I have another? There's not much I won't watch or at least try, although I'm not much of a fan of magical girl and sports-related anime. I am, however, a sucker for slice-of-life and yuri. Whatever your tastes are, I don't judge or trash anyone's preferences. Anime & manga have something for everyone, I say. :)

If you've read down this far...thanks! I'm a laid back kinda guy that loves to met new peeps, so whatever your interests are I'd like to hear about them. Let's keep the drama in our anime, however. Not in any sense of the word am I an otaku (never mind all those Strike Witches figures, lol) so if you are one, then...teach me, Sensei!
