It's not really a question. More like an invite, would you like to join night societe. [It's a really small community separate on vgchartz that originated because of vgchartz] I believe you would like it since you share similar hobbies with many of our members. It's chat is what keeps it alive to be honest and the chat is active most of the day. Join us at nightsociete.forumotion.net/portal.htm

Fellow Gundam Seed DESTINY fan :)

I enjoyed it overall. I watched it with someone who grumbled the entire time so I may not have enjoyed it as much as I could have. It was very whacky and made liberal use of mecha hammerspace. The only truly annoying thing to me was that basically every problem in the series is solved by using a bigger drill and that got old very early on which, in turn, made all the battles boring.

As for the characters, I didn't really like most of them. Simon was meh. Yoko was for fanservice almost exclusively and did pretty much nothing noteworthy in the whole show. Kamina was great but he wasn't in most episodes. No major complaints with the rest... except for the clown guy who I believe had the soul purpose of mashing whatever giant "fire all missiles" button they put in front of him.

I saw Fafner years ago in the anime club. The show was very disappointing for me.

You have the world that's facing the evil aliens by itself while the island with the tech to fight them hides. Then when the world says "Damn it, help us!" the island says no. So on the global scale the islanders are arsehats. Then on the small scale, you have the islanders telling the children that they don't matter and only to make sure the robots come back. At this point the islanders are basically the arsehats of the show and the rest of the world is looking like the good guys so what do the writers do? The next episode the world attacks the island and the islanders are suddenly all hugs and smiles to the children.

That's basically what I remember from Fafner. Well that and Shouko's death in episode 2 or 3. I don't remember that death because it was memorable so much as the fact that they killed a character with no audience connection and then periodically went emo over it in the next 10 episodes left an impression.

Sorry, I'll stop now...

When I get into Gundam again I'll watch 00, Turn A, and a few others all at once. My thing is that I'm having a lot of fun watching all the non-gundam mecha shows like Gun X Sword, Godannar, Overman King Gainer, Zoids, Gaiking, and the like. My next mecha will probably be Great Dangaioh.

And my favorite GW characters were Duo and Zechs as well. The biggest nicety about Gundam Wing is that there are fewer emo moments. There are fewer "Wah wah, why do I have to fight you? Waaah!" moments in Gundam Wing. More so than most other Gundams I've seen, Wing pilots seem to accept their situations readily and handle them quickly.

The main characters of Gundam Wing aren't shallow, however they spend more time defining themselves through actions than introspection. Except for Treize, who contemplates his navel in every scene.

Plus if you watched the dubbed version you had to deal with Heero's emotionless VA'ing. Mark Hildreth is a good VA, but the studio made some bad choices with Heero's character. So instead of a young man acting on his emotions you ended up with robot-like assassin.

Oh right, we've been over this. Ah well... watch something new. ^_^
