To love ru is more famous because A. it has made more money B. it has more ecchi
personally i think both are good and 1 doesnt surpass the other cuz first 2 season of dxd is better than the first season of to love ru but to love ru darkness is probably the best piece of ecchi anime out there (currently rewatching it from the beginning)
Surpassing it would mean that Dxd would need more seasons than to love ru....to love ru is going on its 4th season this summer while dxd is almost done with season 3

yup i love harems i currently have watched 50 out of maybe 162 harems out there soo im on my way lol
