I watched the Aa! Megami-sama! movie yesterday and it was my first exposure to that series. I had been interested in giving the TV adaption a try due to my initial attraction to the art many years ago and never got around to it. After seeing the film, I plan on actually watching the show at some point when I feel motivated to do so. For now I’m satisfied with the experience the movie gave me which introduced me to that universe.

I was happy to have found something that felt similar to Aria in a way, yet contributed positively in each category (story, art, character, sound, enjoyment) in its own unique way. It’s worth noting that it aired in 2000, which explains why it also made me feel nostalgia for Inuyasha which aired the same year. Despite having no prior knowledge about the world presented to me in the movie, I was able to follow the story with ease. I have high hopes for the rest of the installments I’ve yet to watch. The racing aspect of the show came as a pleasant surprise. It’s hard for me to pick a favorite character. Even harder for me to find a reason to dislike the film even if it was considerably flawed in the eyes of a veteran fan of the series. I cherish anime that inspire gratitude and appreciation for life and all of the beauty it has to offer, while also managing to leave you feeling hopeful and calm. The Aa! Megami-sama! movie accomplished this, and for that I consider it to be a timeless gem.

If I had to pick on one aspect of it however, I would have loved a redemption arc for Celestine as he was probably the most intriguing character to me in the film, and his change of heart was briefly touched on. It saddened me to discover he has no appearance outside of the film in anime nor in the manga. The bonding between Celestine and Belldandy as she grew from trusting child to vulnerable adult was a key factor into why the events that took place afterward made me feel more emotionally engaged in the plot as well as a strong desire for the best outcome possible for everyone. Although Celestine came to his senses by the end, I was hoping for more thorough coverage of his backstory outside of the film.

As you’re a long-time fan of Urd, I must add that I see why you like her so much. Another silver-haired baddass like your Clannad waifu Tomoyo. Smart, cool-headed and protective in perfect measure.

I submitted character entries for Hiro and Ruby which both got approved. There are no official published Lunar manga featuring Luna, Alex and Nall yet, so sadly I can’t submit entries for them. :( Maybe one day there will be a manga or anime covering the Silver Star Story events. I’m also still hoping for a Mana Khemia anime.

There are a few published Lunar manga, none of which are based on the Silver Star Story events.

Yo, this Akira Toriyama manga is getting a movie adaption. I recognized his art style right away. Haven’t read the manga, but because of my love for Chrono Trigger and your love for DB I think this will be a cool watch for both of us. :D

It looks great! I went with Applejack for a chill theme. I’ve been in a farm vibes mood lately being back home haha. That and catching up from where I left off in MLP:FiM inspired my new layout. I’m going to tidy up my lists and check out the Summer season chart.

Oh hey, I wasn't expecting anyone to notice that post lol. Can confirm Monster Musume is a lot of fun. I bought it on a whim but now I definitely plan to get the next volume. The goal is to complete all of these series eventually, but I'm trying to pace myself--the price adds up quickly! Do you ever get physical manga?
