Indeed, the Russian culture is very interesting. The classical Russian music like Mussorgski and Tschaikovski is also great.
To be honest I didn’t know that there was Russian animation aswell^^. Any recommendations?
I’m not really into poetry but I can see where you are coming from. I can enjoy some classical poetry but I really can’t stand the postmodern stuff. And for a foreigner it must be even worse. If I remember correctly there was a really funny and withering quote in The Prague Cemetery about German poetry. He called German poetry the most pretentious one or something like that.
But German prose is indeed really good. I read almost only German prose, actually. What authors do you like?

Oh, that sounds like a lot of TWISTS. I think I’d really hate Valvavre since Code Geass was already like the worst things ever for me.

Congratulations on passing your exams :) . I know how stressful studying for exams is – today I had an analysis exam and this Saturday I have to write an algebra exam (after that I'll have 3 months semester break).

Yes the Inferno Cop soundtrack was hilarious. The best part is where they translated “Inferno Cop” as “Inferno Cup” to “Inferno Glass” (and even that they did wrong :D). They probably just used google translator.
Was Valvavre as bad as I think it was ?

Yeah I’ve watched it – it was instantly one of my all time favourites. I knew that Tarkovsky is great but I still didn’t expect something so good.
The Russia of the 14th century seemed so extremely well presented, Andrei was such an interesting and multilayered character, the cinematography was just beautiful. It was really a great experience.

Translit menya prosto vyvodit iz terpenia, ya ne yverena pravilno li ya im polzuyus'. It's a shame that not many people like Arashi no Yoru and Sarai-ya Goyou. That wolf is awesome! And I think Sarai-ya Goyou is incredibly well done, I don't think I've ever seen an anime so well put together: the "acting", the directing, the drama.... it hit all the right buttons for me, Dennou Coil too, Densuke ---> ;__;

I hear things are more or less Ok now back there, we still have relatives in Russia.

And yeah, I can speak Russian well enough, although I avoid it on the net because I lack the Russian keyboard and don't use it often enough to put stickers.

Sort of! My parents left Soviet Union during perestroika.

Well, I do see Elfen Lied as one of those series that will turn a lot of people for good reason, but I wasn't one of those people. I simply believe it pulled off what it wanted to do very well, and that's being a dark and gritty romance. Normally I dislike media with excessive gore and death, but I felt Elfen Lied used it respectably and didn't treat it like nothing.

I watched these two movies last month. My personal favourite is Solaris. A friend has lent me Iwan's Childhood and Anrej Rubljow and I will watch them this or next week :) .

Yeah, i think German is a difficult language. I always have to giggle when I hear German in anime, haha.
I couldn't study linguistic^^. In school I was even overwhelmed by the "easy" languages like French and Italian.
But, even though I don't know you I'm confident that you'll pull it off :)

I once watched a russian movie called Zerkalo which was quite impressive. I don't know if you've seen it aswell but I'd definitely recommend it.
Yes I can speak German :). Did you learn it in school or do you have German origins?

Nope ^^. It was just the first nickname that came to my mind. It means mirror doesn't it?

About the instant messaging, I have just finished the movie and I'll write you my thoughts now, because as I mentioned yesterday a friend is coming over and with you being about halfway through he'll be there when you have finished and we'll be busy watching another anime ^^. We can try it with MSN or something on the next movie we'll watch together (if you want to do it again). Personally I'd have to say that I prefer forum or profile comments though, because it gives me the opportunity to take my time and calmly formulate all my thoughts about the movie in one coherent text, while instant messaging is a bit too hurried for me. But I've done it before and it also worked, it's just personal preference really. Anyway, here I go.

Hi, I'm sorry but I#ll haave to take a break now, because I totally forgot I still had to shop for groceries today and the store's are closing up and I wouldn't make it if I waited until the movie is finished. My mistake and I don't like it either, because I'm really into the movie right now. I'll make it back and finish the movie as fast as possible! Again sorry for the delay.

It’s time to ditch the text file.
