your picks may be wishful but partially not too unrealistic. Croatia and Belgium are indeed among the Top 4 teams so far in my opinion. We´ll see if they can keep it up once they play the traditionally big nations.

My favorite team has always been England since i was little and since a trip to Newcastle turned me into a football supporter in the first place so i´ve been rooting for them and even travelling to big events with some of their fans all my life. I am hopeful this year, they have been doing very well so far and they certainly cannot complain about the draw. Colombia is good but not great and then they get Switzerland or Sweden so a Semifinal looks possible for sure.

THE single best team so far is Croatia. Can´t wait to see their Quarterfinal clash with Spain, assuming none of them will stumble tomorrow.
My favorite surprise so far is obviously Japan surviving their group. It was quite ugly but they were heavy underdogs so it´s amazing they made it through. A certain interest in Japan has brought me and most of us here i guess so i´m really happy for them ^^
Another great surprise to me is that we only had a single 0-0 game so far. Football is getting more and more tactical so it is a huge thing. Also VAR is working quite well i´d say.

The worst surprise is obviously Germany. 6 winless games in preparation and now last place in their group. It is amazing how fast the former best team in the world can self destruct and i doubt anyone knows how the hell it happened. Another negative surprise is the performance of the african teams. None of them made the KO stage for the first time since 1978. Despite them getting more and more great players into big european leagues, they seem to get further and further away from the top instead of closer.

My predictions today were correct with France and Uruguay advancing.
Tomorrow i can see no way Croatia loses to Denmark and while i can see Russia upsetting Spain i do not think it´ll happen. It´ll be close though. Belgium will own Japan, Brazil will knock Mexico out in another interesting matchup, Switzerland will finally get into the Last 8 which is something they´ve been working on well for a decade now and England hopefully advance against Colombia ^^

I watched less anime too but still managed to watch more than i expected during the world cup like Land of the Lustrous and Ramen Daisuki Koizumi-san :)
