Trash rezero review man.

Haha, I agree, this MC is defo a child. And I am known amongst friends as a fairly patient and understanding person. Problem is, the best kind of plot to see this kind of character grow is one where he can't redo anything. And RZ is anything BUT the kind of plotline he needs to grow. When this guy has all his mistakes cement permanent woes that he cannot just force the world to forgive him for, he would grow. Yet, in a story like RZ where you can reset without limit, even if it hurts physically each time, there is no growth here for him. We would need a different kind of MC to see anything and the best this could have been is another obvious power fantasy.

And you are right that the reset mechanic should have limits. If it had limits and a smart strategic MC, this could have been epic. I know Lelouch given a similar power with limitations would have been a fantastic MC.

Even more mind boggling to me are the people telling me this is a deconstruction of isekai. I'd say isekai was properly deconstructed by Magic Knight Rayearth long before isekai as a subgenre of anime got popular... lol.

Yes I agree. Part of the problem is that the author started this MC off so blank I can't even say theres a general direction to grow in or an internal flaw that his deaths should correct, which makes his character stale by setup. The other issue is something the fanboi fags keep trying to deny: that he had time to at least improve his abilities but he spends any time he has flirting instead. Like, one easy thing he could do is grow his knowledge of the world he is summoned to, or, just ask Ram or Rem or even Emilia to educate him. This would probably help him stay out of unnecessary trouble a lot better than all the random flirting and cringey white-knighting that he's done. Or, instead of claiming to be better than a professional knight at swordsmanship, maybe take that chance to ask to get trained...but no, that's not what he does...

I think the problem is the show's actual setup. I don't think I am the only one who realized, that when your MC is effectively immortal via game save-point, you CAN'T also have tension. Anything that goes wrong, he can just redo. In case you are gonna keep watching S2 tho, I won't spoil it for you but I wrote a long review of it tonight. Let's just say I was most certainly not impressed, to say the least.

Lol, I bashed S1 pretty hard in my review which is under yours too. I finished S2 today and every week I've dreaded it. Its literally like Sailor Moon's monster-of-the-week except its kill-subaru-of-the-week in this case. I don't even feel there is a plot or that the motivations of anything that happened are relatable. Like, they effectively failed to make any intelligent point on partial par with what geass and deathnote are able to make. I can't even say its intellectually presented like in JoJo where the details of how shit happens is both funny and actually meticulous.

Hey there. Saw your Re0 S1 review. Just wanna say, I agree with a lot of it. I'm curious what you think of S2 if you bother with that at all. I'm currently watching it because I have an anime watching group and I'm their streamer so I don't even get the option to drop it lul.

Hi!
I love your Itazura na kiss review. Thank you for putting into words my exact feelings towards this show and its terrible characters. How can anyone call it a wholesome and cute romance anime is beyond me.
kaorinonomiya Feb 10, 2020 10:01 PM
Yeah jaja, not sure why not many others are wondering the same but rather focusing on "bully sandwich Xd". Hopefully by the end of the 12 episodes we get a better point of view.

It's been like 4 1/2 years, but having just finished the atrocity that was Itazura Kiss, I just want give you some kudos for your review. It was spot-on.

I actually purposely didn't read any of the other reviews before writing my own, and it's uncanny how similar our thoughts on the show were. Kotoko and Irie really are the worst.
It’s time to ditch the text file.
