This hardly sets itself apart from the COUNTLESS titles of the same mediocre game HUD based isekai-esque drivel flooding anime since SAO.
MC: The same underdog story of dreg chaff being blessed with rule breaking special skills and plot armor.
Plot: The same mindless punching bags from all other isekais of the type. The same attractive and graceful Mary Sue’s, the same male supporting characters who are bland as sin.
Art and sound: The same baseline as literally any other comparable series.
Seriously, how does reach an 8? I could only imagine that it’s fan-boy inflation. SIGH.

As others had said, being weary of Chinese Anime, but seriously, this might change my opinion on their side of the industry. It has been a LONG time since I have seen a good investigative thriller like something of Death Note. Now add wonderful animation, good music, a solid plot, and boy - a great twist. What S1 brought to the table looks to be entirely absent at this point and has regressed into the same egregious tropes. While the entire product so far is mediocre, if you're into the brain numbing therapy that Isekai's have become, this is pretty vanilla stuff.
Anyhow, within minutes of episode one, you begin to see things unravel from the highs of season one. A character who has no story with Naofumi volunteers to be his slave - literally giving up free will for the idea of having power. The focus on the original side characters is lost and they simply become background noise to carry ...

Complexity doesn't make something better:
The problem is that against the original series and the first two movies - there was an emphasis not only on building a multilayered story, but also not forgetting to keep it grounded on the idea of even fictional realism and self established laws. To me, this was so distracting that it was hard to focus on the multifaceted philosophical plot they were trying to pitch. What a shame - that the artwork was so good, but it was wasted on such a sleazy plot.
Really, the idea of gender bender comes with so much potential to explore open waters of psychology, gender norms, and so on - and this basically becomes a shell story about the mangaka fantasizing about the topic of youth sex culture, 'barely' touching on gender norms much less. There's no story about the characters, thier ambitions, not even what they enjoy. But there's no shortage about self exploration and sexual fan-service. What makes Jin Rou a heavy hitter isn't its action scenes or signature body armor designs - it's its ability to deep dive into a immersive world with genuine characters.
It is like a bucket of cold water splashed on ones face while suffering in an humid atmosphere of stale anime. It comes with a sense of realism that comes from a director who intrinisically understands the grim enviornment of political turmoil and paramilitary involvement. He does this masterfully without the easily crossed axe-grinding that comes with people who cant contain thier own biases. In the sea of weak titles, DG doesn't do a lot to prove itself. In a long story short; the characteres are uninspired, the artwork is about as vanilla as it gets, and the plot is extremely flimsy. The greatest aspect abot it is that unlike many other shows, it manages to at least not be offensively weab'ish, some parts excluded.

It is a far cry from the precedent of the first season; mediocre in almost all aspects, and unfortunately the prequel short that preceded this set up a taste for this season.
The new characters are loli damsels in distress and two dimensional supporting henchmen - the twists are predictable, the CG is incredibly plain, and the animation is at times paltry. There is so little that changes things that the whole season is merely a stale rehash of the same dungeoneering tropes. How in the world does a story around a pedophile reincarnated into sheeps clothig get a 8 like this? I'm not sure whether I should be disappointed by the fact that such a premise is lauded by countless people, or that such resources where squandered on making a product like this. Beyond this rant heres why I give it a 3, something I dont often give;
