To sum up this story in the quickest way possible: it’s a jumbled mess of disjointed, irrelevant, and confusing events that offer no storyline, no likable characters, and seemingly no purpose.
Storyline? There isn’t one. You’re just presented with 6 nonsensical episodes of wacky animation that’s so exaggerated, it’s hard to even tell what’s happening at points. Characters? All flat as can be and have no background whatsoever. After watching, it was unclear the relationship between the main character and literally everyone else in the show. Not a single character is relatable, likable, or even enjoyable to watch. ... I also had no idea what was happening the entire time and wouldn’t be able to make sense of it if I tried. It feels like someone wrote this show while on drugs and they just decided to go ahead and make it anyway.
I had actually started this series a long time ago and dropped it after the first incomprehensible episode. Personally I don’t like dropping series so I came back to it years later and forced myself to finish it in hopes that it would somehow come together at the end and offer some sort of explicable plot, but it turns out dropping it was the better decision. With the lack of likable characters and a sensible plot, it was really difficult to enjoy this show (personally I didn’t like it at all).
The music was okay, though nothing memorable, and it was randomly thrown in throughout different episodes to highlight the obscurity and excitement of certain scenes. Most of the slapstick humor was sexually suggestive and disgusting, the pacing was rapid despite the non-existent plot, and the whole show lacked any bit of fluidity or clarity. One of the only redeeming factors of this show was the art style, though that wasn’t even consistent; the style would randomly change in the middle of an episode for no reason and immediately revert back to the loosely drawn scribbles.
Overall, this show is just a mess. I honestly tried hard to view the series from an open-minded and less-serious perspective to appreciate its uniqueness and unconventional methods of story-telling, but I still couldn’t find any bit of enjoyment in doing so. I’m not even sure what genre the series falls under or how I’d even begin to describe it to someone else. All I can say for sure is that if you’re looking for something really worth your time, skip this one.

This definitely wasn’t a bad movie but it had lots of room for improvement. The quickest way to describe it would be by comparing it to a Ghibli movie with the amount of fabricated fantasy-like elements and overall mystical tone of the movie. While it wasn’t bad, its biggest issue overall was the narrative and the way the plot was told. The main plot line was unique, though nothing unheard of, but had a lot more potential had they executed it better. It got confusing at a lot of points when reality started to merge with the main character’s dreams and you didn’t know if ... she was awake or asleep or what was actually happening or not.

I think they tried to go for a smooth transition between reality and the dreamland every time to steadily mesh it all together in order to add to the magic atmosphere of the film and blend the two worlds together, but it actually just ended up being really confusing. A few times I would just disregard everything happening as being “fake” (because it was part of the character’s dreams) but it would just carry on into the real world, making me wonder what the heck actually happened. And whatever was happening with the giant robots was extremely confusing to me, I couldn’t figure out what the counterpart of that was in the real world.

The movie started out with a pretty straightforward goal, but after halfway through the plot is just all over the place. The main goal of “stopping the bad guy” and “saving the dad” are still in progress, but the narrative becomes slurred; instead of making her own choices, the main character is just dragged from one mess into another at the end and it becomes unclear what she’s even trying to do anymore.

Another issue was that it was difficult to decipher the audience of the movie given that some parts were so childish and cliché yet most of of plot would go over a child’s head. I personally hate when films or series don’t have a clear audience and mix both childish humor and appeal into a more mature plot, which is what felt like what happened here. Granted, there was no mature content or anything inappropriate for a younger audience, and the mystical elements and visuals of the story would certainly appeal to a younger audience, but, as I mentioned earlier, they wouldn’t understand most of the movie or the actual plot line.

Visually the movie wasn’t bad at all. I rather liked the art style and the animation was pretty fluid throughout the whole thing. There were a few quick moments of awkward cgi that would’ve been better off having been fluent with the rest of the animation but nothing too bad overall. Some finishing touches on the animation such as shadowing and lighting and such on the characters were absent, leaving a little more room for improvement. However, detail in the film was very well done; there were many shots of the interior of a house or a building, their rooms having an incredible amount of detail and work put into them. The promo art for the movie is gorgeous, though, as I’ve seen many times before, turns out to be more promising than the actual film itself.

Characters were written well for the movie and all carried their roles just fine but that’s about it. They don’t have a ton of character development or any lasting impression on the viewer but in part that’s due to only getting a little over an hour of screen time; series always have more potential for their characters to grow due to the amount of time they get to flesh them out compared to movies so it wasn’t unexpected. The main character was pretty simple but fun to follow the story with. Overall none of the characters stand out more than others and you don’t really get to connect with any of them, just kind of watch them do their thing.

In conclusion, I’d give the movie a 6/10 due to the list of improvements it could make and elements it was lacking. It started out pretty enjoyable but felt dragged on and got really confusing by the end of it. It was visually appealing throughout its entirety but had no memorable aspects or anything to really impress. Better than average but still could use a lot of work.

This six minute short is one of the most emotional and beautiful pieces of work I have seen. With an amazing soundtrack, touching story and breath-taking animation, this short portrays a heartwarming yet simple tale that shows the impact of both love and solitude in only a matter of minutes. Keeping the narratives to a minimal, it relies on its beautiful visuals to portray its simple yet tear-jerking story and does so perfectly. The animation is some of the best I’ve ever seen, with a gorgeous combination of colors and contrasts, beautiful transitions and vivid imagery that makes it hard to look away from. It’s ... just so easy to watch and fun to look at that you want it to never end.

The story is clear and simple, yet evokes a feeling of sorrow mixed with bliss; it just leaves you wanting more. By the end of the video, it makes you really contemplate the effects that isolation has on a person and the human nature’s true desire for company even when it may seem irrelevant. And to wrap it all up, the gorgeous graphics are accompanied by a fantastic electronic mix that fits the theme perfectly and makes it all the more enjoyable. This bittersweet tale elaborates on important themes and touches the audience in such a heartfelt way that it's hard to overlook the emotional impact of this short. Overall, the quality of this animation is truly one of a kind and demands acknowledgment for its brilliant execution.

In all honesty, this has been one of the weirdest anime(s) I have watched to date and one of the most confusing that I’ve written a review for. I just don’t know exactly what to say about it. For starters, I guess I’ll point out that the humor in this show is absolutely crazy; you will see some of the weirdest stuff in this anime that you’ve never seen anywhere else. The biggest problem I found with that, however, is that it seems to be the key element of this anime and the only enjoyable part of it. Basically, if you don’t enjoy the sense ... of humor that’s used in this anime then you will find yourself utterly and dreadfully bored. Unfortunately it seems that that’s all this anime really has to offer which is fine but it’s really a make or break deal for who will enjoy it.

Because I didn’t personally find the humor funny, I struggled to enjoy the show since there was nothing else to really be entertained by. There were only a few moments where I really thought something was funny but most of the show just seemed dull and slow; it felt like it dragged on for too long. Half of the characters are all flat and aside from the last two episodes, have no personalities. If you’re not one of the three main characters then you’re completely forgettable and fall into being a background character who will most likely never show up again. That would be fine if the main cast was more entertaining but because of their lack of… anything, it’s just not fun to watch them.

The episodes/storylines are not in linear order and so much random stuff with varying degrees of actual importance to the plot happens at different times, which makes the whole thing pretty confusing to watch. Sometimes there will be an episode or two devoted to a strange event that’s actually semi-important to whatever the plot is and at other times, some of the stuff that happens is just for comedy’s sake; it’s just hard to tell what’s relevant and what’s not. Plus, none of the characters even have names (they’re just addressed by their job titles) which only adds to the confusion.

The truth is, I wish I enjoyed this show more. The pastel color scheme, cartoony style, lighthearted atmosphere and simplicity of it were all alluring elements but in the end, this anime just wasn’t for me. Even though that’s the case and I didn’t enjoy watching most of it, I do want to acknowledge it for some of the things it did well. The thing I appreciated the most was the show’s take on modern day problems and inefficiencies; basically most of the show was an allegory for what’s wrong with modern society. Definitely represented in the weirdest ways possible, the anime makes an effort to poke fun at real life problems and can be pretty funny at times. It also did a good job at combining cuteness with dark humor and the balance between them is what keeps the show running.

This anime is one that you should just watch to have fun watching rather than trying to analyze it or make sense of what’s going on (because, trust me, you will not be able to make sense of what’s going on). It’s more of a gag series rather than a serious one and therefore has a lot of over-the-top strangeness. Because of that, most of the episodes feel totally random and irrelevant to each other so you just have to keep an open mind when watching it and learn not to expect anything from it. If you put expectations in your head beforehand, then you will be completely confused by what’s to come. In conclusion, this anime solely focuses on dark humor, satire and complete randomness and that’s exactly what makes it so unique; in order to really enjoy it, you just have to put all expectations aside and stick through whatever ridiculous events happen in each episode. Overall, the main thing I’d point out for this anime is that its comedy is the real make-or-break deal for whether or not you’ll enjoy it.

It’s unfortunate when you come across a show of any kind that’s this jumbled and incomplete but it happens every now and then and Bloodivores happens to be high on that list of “wtf did I just watch?”. This show could use a lot more than just a bit of work. For starters, the first and most important thing to point out about this anime is that there’s no clear plot whatsoever; you just don’t know what’s happening the whole time. There’s no clear intentions, no story clarification and no objectives for the characters other than what the plot immediately forces upon them (like surviving ... a monster attack or escaping a room). Honestly I couldn’t explain this anime to someone if I tried. The story starts off in one place and really goes nowhere. You don’t know what the characters are trying to do, where they are, or what’s happening; they just seem to be wandering around the entire time and there are no story elements that tie anything together. I can’t even say there were plot holes in this anime since there isn’t even a plot. All the events feel unrelated to each other and insignificant, and the lack of any overarching story makes the whole thing boring to watch.

Moving onto the next factor: characters. There’s not one likable character in this show. No backstories, no motivation or goals, no endearing personalities and absolutely no character development. All of the characters just seem to exist for the sole purpose of carrying on the atrocious excuse for a “plot” which still goes nowhere. The character design is as bland as it gets as well; there are background characters in other anime who are more interesting than the entire main cast of this show combined. In fact, there are some characters who are completely useless and unnecessary to the entire show, the only piece of information you get about them being their name; they don’t even help to move the story along. There are so many smaller elements in the show that are brought up once and never touched on again; you get no explanation for them and they only seem to exist for the convenience of whatever the plot is supposed to be. Blowing through any possible potential for its plot and characters, you’d think that this show would at least have some impressive artwork/animation to show off, but in all honesty the quality of the visuals was just about as bad as the rest of it. The animation is below average and just cringey to watch. There were a few moments where the audio didn’t line up with the animation and far too many moments where there were just still frames without sound, making for a very boring watch. With crappy animation, no outstanding visuals and even a mediocre to poor soundtrack, this show also failed in displaying any impressive art.

In all honesty, the first impression I had when getting into this anime was that it’s a low budget show; poorly made and lacked any thought or hard work that could have been put into it. Any potential for any aspects of it actually being interesting was squandered by the lack of explanation for the heck what was going on the entire time. The whole thing was confusing and boring to watch. It was uneventful, unclear, unamusing, and just mundane. I forced myself to get through the whole thing in hopes of some phenomenal ending acting as salvation for the nightmare that I just watched but was also disappointed by a nonsensical and abrupt conclusion. Honestly, there’s not a single thing I can pinpoint about this show that was well done.

The first and most important thing to know about this series specifically is that it’s a continuation of Love, Chunibyo and Other Delusions so for anyone who’s unsure what to watch first, this is the next season and therefore should be watched second. It doesn’t fully delve back into characters’ backstories due to the fact that it’s assumed you’ve seen the first season. In fact, it picks up right where the first season left off and the pace starts flowing consistently from the get-go. While the first season left off in a nice place and didn’t necessarily need another one, this season is still true ... to the tone of the show and keeps some of the same underlying themes and messages present and relevant. Few new characters are introduced but all the same characters from the previous season return with the same amount of ridiculous comedy and silly shenanigans. It pretty much feels just like the first season; the writing is consistent and the plot flows smoothly.

Unlike many shows and other forms of entertainment, this season did a great job continuing the series without ruining the show; it’s still just as fun to watch and intriguing throughout its entirety. Alongside the comedy, things are kept interesting though the introduction of what could even be called a rival for the protagonist, moving the story along smoothly while also providing for more excellent character development opportunities. While the story is filled with drama, the writers know how to keep it at an appropriate level and alternate with the rest of the existing themes to keep the atmosphere both tense yet relaxing and just entertaining to watch. All that’s left to say is that if you enjoyed the first season, then you will surely enjoy this one.

Everyone seeks out shows that fall under the genres they most enjoy but every once in a while you’ll be pleasantly surprised if you delve into contrasting territories and see what they have to offer. Personally I’m not a huge fan of dramas and romance but Love, Chunibyo and Other Delusions is more than just that; it’s a thorough and balanced combination of the two, harmoniously mixed with comedy while combining the elements of both fantasy and slice of life. Basically it mixes a number of genres and does so fantastically. It does an amazing job of equally balancing both its silly comedy and heartfelt ... drama without one aspect drowning out the other and delivers its intended emotions to the audience. It’s a fun and engaging series that makes you both laugh and feel for its characters concerning their respective troubles and challenges. The theme of the anime is something to greatly appreciate for anyone out there who had what they look back on to be an embarrassing preadolescence. Almost everyone has something in their past that they look back on and wholeheartedly regret due to the full-fledged embarrassment it brought them, but this anime takes it to an extreme and follows the stories of those with “chunibyo” who lead an incredibly odd and otherworldly life. While the theme of personal childhood embarrassment isn’t common among entertainment, this series brings the subject to life and in the funniest ways possible.

While the series consistently displays ace comedy, there’s much more to this show than ridiculous fight scenes and high school teenage drama; look deeper and you’ll see that it really touches on more serious topics as well, such as discovering unique coping mechanisms, handling relationships with others, and fitting in with society and those around you. Serious topics don’t always mesh well with slapstick violence and exaggerated humor but this anime was able to combine the two adeptly and portray more somber tones when necessary while still having the show as a whole be engaging and enjoyable to watch. The anime gives you new perspectives on people who struggle with social anxiety and making friends and proves that everyone goes about common struggles in their own ways, no matter how ridiculous they may be. Furthermore, there are times when even more thought-provoking and pensive subjects such as self-acceptance and self-discovery become the show’s focal points and demonstrate the importance of identity, love and relationships.

That being said, one of the strongest points of this show is how relatable it is which allows it to connect with its audience on a personal level, albeit not as drastic; it relates to the viewers and only makes the show more understandable and hilarious. This series will most likely appeal to those who didn’t have an easy time socializing as a preadolescent or to those who felt out of place in public. While many may not understand the ridiculous shenanigans of the protagonist, the truth of her absurd and silly delusions is that it’s all an escape from reality; a method used to comfort oneself when they don’t fit in with the world. While the show is a comedy, it’s also thought-provoking and sincere, and almost comforting to watch for those who experienced similar struggles and dealt with them in a similar manner.

Comedy and themes aside, another aspect this series did well on is its graphics; it’s pleasing to the eye, showcasing a bright and vibrant color palette alongside gorgeous visuals and detailed backgrounds. The scenery is alluring, flashy and just well made; you can tell that lot of work was put into creating the settings for this show and it really pays off. The animation is top-quality as well, making the whole thing fun to watch and hard to look away from. Not to mention that the art style is just plain adorable.

Overall, this series was excellent; the plot flows smoothly and doesn’t force character development, which gradually occurs over the course of the series. The characters are exaggerated and fun to watch and stand out among a beautiful collection of visuals. The comedy is wonderful and entertaining and the themes and messages of the show are all relevant, relatable and deep. The writing of this show was done just perfectly and this is a great series to watch if you want a comedy or romance. If you’ve ever felt like you’ve had a pretty embarrassing past (and can look back on it and laugh) then you’ve got to watch this anime!

There are a number of classics that every anime fan should see and Gurren Lagann is at the top of the list. After rewatching this series for a fifth time, I figured it was finally time to add to the hundreds of existing reviews on it just to reinforce a simple statement: this anime is one of the best to ever exist. It’s become one of the most iconic anime(s) of all time and for good reason; everything about this show is perfect. It easily qualifies as one of the most emotional, passionate, heartfelt, captivating and overall well-made anime(s) in existence. In truth, a simple ... review can’t do Gurren Lagann justice; no amount of words can give this show the credit it deserves. For starters, the characters in the anime are memorable, likable, relatable and inspiring; each character is well developed and has something of their own to offer to the story. The character development in the show is top notch and some of the best you will ever see and the character design is truly one of a kind. However, what really stands out among the characters is the brotherhood shared between the two main characters; the faith they have in one another and impact on each other is one of the most influential and iconic relationships in anime of all time. Right after the characters, the plot follows suit as being crucial to ultimately create a good story and in this case, once again, does not fall short of the mark for Gurren Lagann. Unique, intriguing and increasingly intense, the plot gradually becomes more and more epic as it unfolds, ultimately leading to the show’s remarkable conclusion. The series also did an extraordinary job of keeping its themes and pacing consistent after a long time skip; everything still feels relevant but the story just continues to become more epic.

There’s just so much to say about this anime that was perfectly done: its exciting action sequences, epic mecha fights, apt comedy, intriguing story, memorable characters, consistent pace, flawless directing and its absolutely gorgeous soundtrack. The animation is fluent, lively, full of character and is much more fun to watch than that of many of today’s shows. The art style is unique and appealing and goes hand in hand with the excellent animation. The voice acting is spot on, full of energy and full of exaggeration. Overall, everything about this anime was done masterfully. Put everything else aside, however, and you come to the core of this anime and the reason it’s so powerful. The best thing about this show is its ability to push the limits of belief and its reoccurring theme of challenging the impossible. Every time you think the characters have reached their limit or can’t go any further, they do. And it’s astounding to watch. Every time it seems like they’ve lost, they push onward and overcome. And every time it seems like the end of the world, they rewrite their predestined future. It’s a show about breaking the boundaries of human comprehension and reaching unreachable heights. This show and its message are larger than life and will just leave you in awe after an inspiring journey of resolve, courage, and astounding faith. While the series may seem lighthearted at first, Gurren Lagann is really an incredible story about willpower, spirit, and believing in oneself. It uses every one of its elements to pull you in and make you emotionally invested in its breathtaking entirety. Perfectly written and perfectly executed, it’s hard to find anything wrong with this amazing series.

It’s near impossible to create original content nowadays and it takes a lot of talent and effort to make a recycled storyline interesting with all the different existing shows out there but it’s still possible; this anime, however, is the perfect example of how bland, cliché and generic a story can be if that effort isn’t put forward. This is by far the most standard isekai I have ever seen and I’m not sure why I bothered finishing it. Nothing about this show stands out in any way; in fact, the whole thing is so cliché and cringey that it’s hard to even get through ... any of it. I don’t usually try to put my own biased opinions into reviews but honestly, this anime feels like a rough draft fan fiction written by inexperienced pre-teens who have no talent for story-telling.

The characters are the most basic and underdeveloped characters you can think of; they’re just plain and boring and have no interesting characteristics or anything that makes them stand out. On top of this the main characters are, of course, overpowered, fulfilling one of the biggest clichés in this genre and making for a boring watch as they easily overcome obstacles and enemies without really even having to try. Anyone who’s not a main character is completely forgettable and still on of the bandwagon of being simple, uninteresting and boring. Basically no one’s likable or has anything to offer to the story, though it’s not like the story is any good either. Just think of the most basic isekai plot that you possibly can and *boom* you have Isekai Cheat Magician. It’s extraordinarily predictable, has no good plot twists, offers the most bland and underwhelming action scenes, lacks in any unique story elements and has the most generic and forgettable storyline. So what’s good about the plot then? Great question.

Aside from the horrid characters and plot, all the other elements of the anime are just average and boring; no good music, a standard art style, boring animation, poor dialogue, too many inconsistencies, horrible directing, and every cliché in the book. Maybe this would be an okay show to introduce to a 4-year old who you’re trying to start on anime but for anyone who’s ever seen a show before, it’s just laughable. Honestly I wonder why they even bothered putting the work into making this anime when it could have been spent elsewhere. Nothing is well written and the entirety of this show could be explained in one quick sentence without really missing anything. This whole show is just the kind of stuff that anyone can come up with in 5 minutes without having to put any thought into and I wouldn’t be surprised if that’s what happened when they made this. If you’re completely out of shows to watch and you’re just looking for something to waste your time, then look elsewhere because this is still not worth it.

Fanservice, fanservice, fanservice. Unfortunately that seems to be the main focus of the anime, but what do you expect- “hot springs” is literally in the title of the show, and they definitely waste no time showing just how perverted anime can get. In fact the plot pretty much exists just to have numerous opportunities to show off underaged girls’ skin; there’s not really any progression with the main character’s goal and the entire plot could’ve been changed without the actual anime being changed at all, since all you’re seeing the whole time is naked females. The characters are all stereotypical, common anime archetypes and the ... “misconception clichés” that happen between them take an all time high in this anime; basically the accidental groping and seeing your housemates naked happens in literally every episode. And it gets old. You’ll come across these types of scenes once or twice in most anime but this anime is pretty much just a compilation of them. Because of that, it’s obviously steered towards a certain audience but it’s still too repetitive and becomes boring after about 3 episodes of it.

This show is so focused on the fanservice that there’s nothing else really notable about it. Everything about it is average and the plot that could have had potential, had it been properly directed and executed, is completely drowned out by and excessive amount of boobs and butts. Literally every main female character in the show is depicted naked or half-naked at some point. Given the facts, I do understand that it’s an ecchi anime but I feel like there really was some potential with it that was ruined by the immoderate amount of fanservice. If they had focused more on plot and character development rather than just the characters’ exaggerated body parts then it would have been a lot more enjoyable. Even for someone who’s a fan of this stuff, I feel like it was too repetitive and predictable; there needed to be more diversity in the show.

Somehow, however, despite not being a fan of ecchi myself, I found the series to be fun to watch when it wasn’t humiliating and stripping down high school girls. The baseline for the plot was interesting (and could have been great) and there were some times where the interactions between the characters were pretty funny. Although they don’t change at all throughout the show, the characters still all have strong personalities and are likable and the animation is fluent. Some of the comedy is actually pretty good, art is consistent, and the vibrant atmosphere of the show makes it easy to watch.

Overall I’d say the anime is just average for fans of ecchi, considering that it does its job to bring you loads of fanservice but doesn’t stand out in any way among others of its genre; it’s just forgettable. If you don’t like ecchi, don’t watch this because it will probably soil your brain. Sticking to genres and types of anime that you like is the best option in this scenario because if you venture into harem/lewd/ecchi when you aren’t a fan of it, you will be sorely disappointed and most likely disgusted. Do some research about this show before you watch it; you’re either a fan of this stuff or you’re not and if you’re not, then I suggest you give it a pass.
