Since you haven't liked anything from this season, maybe check out Houseki no Kuni? It's my favorite anime of the year... I think. I gotta check and make a list but it is what comes to mind the most. That and Made in Abyss.

Exactly, it's literally the anime equivalent of sleeping pills. NOTHING of worth really happens. Anything slightly interesting that happens is smothered over by the stupidity the two main chibi characters convey with their actions and sayings. I really don't like the show. I don't really see the interest everyone has in it, I mean if it wasn't boring for sure, but holy hell is it boring.

The first Episodes and the following first Episodes can be quite average.
I know that it can be for many people. So maybe for you as well.

But it will improve a lot afterwards.

It is :) Aside from the Mushi/ Youkai/ spirits etc stuff, they're similar because they are character-driven stories, build their setting, and have an episodic structure that feel like their own little movies. I think the main difference is that Natsume is more of a "sweet" show, and despite the relatively slow pace (which I actually enjoy a lot), it still maintains its quality and gets better and better. I think these kinds of shows are better watched slowly rather than binging them
