I’ve read Joyce and Faulkner, but I’ve yet to tackle Proust, Pynchon, or Bukowski. The hardest thing I read this year was Dream of the Red Chamber. It’s a Chinese classic from the 1700s that’s over twice the length of War and Peace. Pretty dense stuff, but good. I’ve mostly focused on shorter works this year like Anna Edes, Confessions of a Mask, The Seagull, Demian, and some random other stuff. What’s your goodreads account? We could exchange some recommendations!
I’m currently reading “I am a Cat” by Natsume Soseki. It’s an early 20th century satire that’s quite amusing. This is my second Soseki novel after Kokoro. He’s often considered Japan’s greatest writer of the 20th century, although Akutagawa, Dazai, and Mishima are always in that discussion as well.

There were some really good parts that made up for the trash that was the chimera arc. But the fact that half the show was bad while still being a favorite says more about the current anime industry than it does about HxH.
