I've been watching cartoons ever since I was a kid.
Now I'm still watching cartoons, but cartoons for big kids!... <sigh>
Haha but no really, if it weren't for anime, I'd probably be bored right now. It's what I do whenever I have those "there's nothing to do" moments... well that and raiding the fridge. Both never cease to entertain me xP. Anyways, I love discussing anime/manga so feel free to comment/message.
As for my rating system, I usually end up giving most everything a 7 or an 8 out of laziness. If you want to know the specifics of my opinion on a certain anime/manga, ask!
When I started watching anime, there were many companies releasing titles here in the States. A D Vision, Funimation, Bandai, Geneon USA, CPM, Nozomi/Rightstuf, Anime Works, AnimeGo were all busy, and there were a few very small companies like Manga Entertainment. A D Vision is now reincarnated as Sentai. There is Studio 23, NIS America, Nozomi is still around as is Funimation. But, all Geneon titles are now released here under Funimation. Sentai isn't 10% the size of A D Vision. Bandai rarely releases here now. So, the big bully is now Funimation. I really hate to ditz them, but these days if a title is licensed by them, I will avoid it. Perhaps it's my age, but what they put out isn't what I want in my Anime. Titles like Usagi Drop, Aria, Chihayafuru, Bokura ga Ita, Nana, etc, is what I am looking for these days. So, all the ecchi/fanservice/harem stuff Funi puts out has no appeal to me. They still do release a good title once in awhile, so they haven't totally forgotten the mature viewer. They are very agressive in getting a title. I know they grabbed Eureka 7 AO, for streaming rights, so it's just a matter of time before they get the home video license as well. Too bad, that storyline was a top Bandai franchise. That is what I meant with the "only game in town" comment. Nuf said, I won't bother you with any more Funi comments.
Yeah, it gets pretty awesome! You could probably pick up with the manga where the show left off if you don't want to read what you already watched! I am pretty sure nothing was left out of the show, even though some events happened in the incorrect order...
Gunslinger Girl is a series that is cute, dark, emotional and just plain good. It is underrated, IMO. I have always enjoyed it. It is a Funnymation title from when they were doing some good work. These days Funny has lost it! I guess when you are virtually the only game in town, you can put out trash. They need to go back to work like Fruits Basket, Kodocha, this one and some others. They just grabbed another bunch of old ADV titles this month, so I guess they can pander to the people who want crap and want good anime. I'll get off my soap box now. LOL
I accidentally hit the wrong button on your Gunslinger Girl review. I meant to hit Helpful. Not that it really matters as I have watched it many times. We both rate it an 8. I see you have not watched GG:Il Teatrino yet. I felt that it was even better. Still good character development with more action.
Hi there! it's been such a long while isn't it? well I see you finally made it to watch Steins;Gate so what do you think??? I thought it was extremely well made, the plot was very interesting, the characters are awesome (specially Okabe and Kurisu-tina lolz) and it had it's fair share of light and tense moments.
Thank you for saying so, mate! Sometimes I feel a little disillusioned with anime blogging, but getting a comment like this just lets me know that it's worth persevering with :)
Hey man, I've been wondering about something...is Guilty Crown good enough?? I saw the first episode and it was kinda promising, but many ppl say that I shouldn't get fooled by the music and nice animation, that the story gets messed up soon enough...so I want to hear your thought on it so maybe I can make up my mind (I really don't wanna waste time watching something that would turn out to be bad...)
