Love Lab is fun as expected from him. One of the greatest animations this season surely

Love Lab was an awesome surprise. I love it!

Lanf | 07-06-13, 3:12 PM
I knew Love Lab's opening was too eerily similar to Minami-ke's to be a coincidence.

Masahiko Oota (or Ohta) is the Great Asian Hope for me in terms of comedic anime.
-"Miname-ke" was solid and thoroughly funny. It's good that he started getting recognition with this quality anime.
-"Mitsudomoe" (along with the Second Season) is ridiculous, wacky, and funny as well. Not as entirely satisfying as "Miname-ke", but is still good, zany fun.
-"Yuru Yuri" (and especially during the Second Season) is his magnum opus so far in my honest opinion. Comedy with cutesy, moe characters has never been done so right. My personal alternative to K-On and other moe-involving comedies. I adore the light, somewhat odd humor and the quirky, lesbian character humor doesn't become obnoxious and is actually likable. Its straightforward and is completely absent of heavy, annoying pretense. It knows what it is and does what it does well. Fresh, humorous, surprisingly wholly entertaining, and very enjoyable from start to finish.

-I honestly found Kotoura-san to be too heavy-handed in its dramatic approach, but at times, it was absorbing and funny. I hope he either goes back to just solely doing humor-based animes, or works on polishing and fine-tuning his storytelling and direction if he's going to go for drama again.

Either way, I'm definitely looking forward to Love Lab. Hopefully he still has his comedic touch and/or improves drama-wise.
